Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a truly wonderful hotel. It has a calm atmosphere, all of the staff are friendly and highly efficient. The property has been beautifully decorated with a combination of original features and renovations in keeping. The bedrooms are immaculate and very comfortable. The food is freshly cooked and piping hot. The gardens are attractive and views amazing. Huge car park.

Stone Manor is a beautiful building, with up to date decor in beautiful grounds. It's not cheap, but the comfort in the rooms is great and under floor heating in the bathrooms is very welcome in the winter. The plumbing does vibrate in some areas of the hotel, so you might be woken by the noise of the first person to have a shower in the morning. The breakfast is cooked to order which is lovely, but recommend you avoid the "Orchard Farm scrambled eggs". They are tasteless and have the colour and consistency of powdered eggs. Breakfast coffee is caffetiere served which is ok, however the caffetiere does not filter out all the grounds so don't drink the last gulp in the cup. Overall, a great hotel, which could be exceptional with a few minor changes.

Be aware how private bookings appear to be held in low esteem by all the reception staff. Corporate clients and wedding party guests seem to be the priority. The service was surly on all four days of our stay – not one ever so much as smiled. When we reported some minor defects in our room (simply for entry on the maintenance log) this was apparently regarded as a personal affront. A large noisy extractor fan close to our room made sleeping difficult for the first night, and we were assured it would be turned off when the bar closed (it wasn’t). It WAS for the 2nd night, but was then back on again for the remainder of our stay. The hotel prides itself on superb service, and entreats its guests to ‘shout from the rooftops’ – or contact them if any complaints. We duly completed a room questionnaire and handed it in on checkout. There were looks of loathing. No response to our concerns was ever received. We won’t be going back. But the breakfasts were good, with a wide choice and wonderful waitresses happy to help.

My husband and I attended an afternoon tea for my sister’s 75th birthday in a private room at Stone Manor. It was organised by my brother-in-law which is why I didn’t raise my issues at the time. The afternoon tea bore no resemblance to the tea described on their web site; “too divine to resist”, “hand crafted menu” , “dainty little fancies”, “afternoon tea worthy of royalty”. We were told to share each tray between 3, except vegetarians who had their own tray. The sandwiches were not exceptional; meat eaters said they couldn’t taste what meat it was. The scones were ok. The “dainty little fancies” did not exist!! That’s right, we had no cakes at all! I was shocked when my brother-in-law told me how much they had paid for it. I have had far superior afternoon tea at a local garden centre and other, lesser known, hotels! My positive comments are the lovely room and the attentiveness of the staff. Other than that it was shocking!!

Excellent hotel, its smaller side makes it intimate. Quality of service is fantastic, great attention and finer details. Lovely interior furnishings makes it more interesting than the bigger chains. It doesn’t have a pool but in the summer the lovely grounds are a delight. Superb business event catering including the best BBQ - Chef put original ideas into this - buffet lunches even better than Handpicked hotels - great effort with vegetarian options! Now a firm favourite with our business, our team members really love this place and the sister hotel in Solihull (easier access for long distance travellers).

I can’t remember last time I gave a 5 star review but this one deserves it ! Room magnificent, service second to none. Price outstanding so really not much more to say but definitely do not pass this gem by! The crowning glory however was the service at reception and the OUTSTANDING Joanne ! A credit to the hotel 🏨

We booked my Mums 80th birthday meal and the staff & the service we received was fantastic, we would just like to thank every staff member ( especially Ethan in the restaurant, very polite & courteous young man) who went above & beyond to ensure our needs were met and every aspect was a positive delightful experience, & of course a special memory for my Mum! Thank you all

Love the ambiance of the Stone Manor both the lounge area and in the restaurant dining room. Food size portions could be larger and the vegetables need more cooking they are very hard. Wine is overpriced a lot especially when bought by the glass. Staff are pleasant.

Visited Stone Manor on Boxing Day 2023 (7.00pm) expecting a nice relaxing meal just myself and my husband after hosting Christmas for all of our family. Upon arrival we were informed the menu was not as advertised but limited (very limited in my opinion) as they had been so busy at lunch time. Ordered two soda waters & lime and a bottle of sparkling water, only one soda water arrived and no sparkling water, had to ask for the second soda water. Ordered the salmon terrine, so disappointing, very small portion just slapped on the plate, no salad or bread/toast (who has terrine without bread/toast?) had to ask for bread. I ordered lamb shank, when it arrived i asked for mint sauce only to be told they had none, i fail to understand how a restaurant can run out of mint sauce. I have never before complained about anything but felt so annoyed i had to. The Restaurant Manager apologised and said he would reduce the bill, which he did, but it is an experience i never want to repeat so probably will not visit again. Such a disappointment, the Stone Manor is such a lovely place.

22 had dinner in a private room, the Nest. The food was superb and staff were friendly and helpful. 6 of us stayed over. The bedrooms were great value for money compared to the hotel we usually stay at costing twice as much! We so enjoyed our stay with you and will definitely be back.
