B&B is opposite Saddleworth Moor and has spectacular views. Alice was very helpful and friendly. Our room and bathroom were spotless and beautifully furnished. Great size shower and plenty of towels. The bed was large and really comfortable. Breakfast room was light and airy and breakfast was freshly cooked and delicious. You can also book a chalet with hot tub here too. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend staying here.

We couldn't have asked for a more wonderful stay in the middle of the gorgeous English countryside. The newly built 2020 chalets were absolutely stunning and to top off our trip the host Alice and her family were extremely welcoming and helpful. This was my first trip to England with my boyfriend and did not disappoint. Flying over from the US we really didn't know what to expect and could not have asked for a better experience with more genuinely lovely hosts and accommodation. We almost couldn't believe how beautiful the chalet's were when we stepped inside. Fully decked out with modern furniture, a very comfortable double bed and all the little touches that made us feel instantly at home. I even asked Alice where she purchased the sheets they were that good! There really wasn't anything missing, WiFi, Bluetooth speakers, a huge TV, candles and throw blankets on the brand new couches. The location was perfect for a weekend getaway, beautiful scenery and within walking distance to a number of cafe's, restaurants and bars. We would highly recommend stopping by "the bank" for dinner, amazing food less than a 10 minute scenic walk away. The Chalets will be our top recommendation to all our friends and family heading over to England looking for the perfect trip away.

Emma, I have just realised I did not officially respond to your wonderful review. Thank you so much for travelling here and for taking the time to enjoy our Chalets. You were one of the last guests we were able to host before our dreaded lockdown....It's a strange time. Anyway Emma, We opened again in July and I am sure glowing reviews on trip advisor like yours helped u to get noticed so thank you once again for taking the time. It would be lovely to see you again and travel willing, lets hope in 2021. Take care, keep safe and enjoy Nebraska! Gwen & Alice

We stayed over night at The Shippon B&B. We were greeted by Alice and shown to our room promptly. We decided to stay at TSB&B as it was located close to a wedding venue that we were guest at. The location was spot on. Alice helped us organise transport to the venue. The room was fit for purpose; neat and spotless. Breakfast the next morning was superb, fresh hot and delicious. Thank you Alice for a lovely stay.

We had a very enjoyable stay at The Shippon while on a family visit to Manchester. It proved a peaceful haven, away from the noise and bustle of the city but not too far off the beaten track to make travelling to and fro a massive chore. It’s set in the lovely Saddleworth countryside, while Delph is nearby in the valley below. Parking isn’t a problem and a great deal of thought, careful planning and good taste has been applied to the buildings and their contents. Our room was spotlessly clean, cosy and attractive with a well-sized bathroom. The breakfast room is neatly arranged, light and relaxing. Alice provided us with an excellent breakfast each morning and was a friendly but professional hostess while always maintaining an unobtrusive presence.
We would definitely return and are happy to recommend The Shippon to anyone else looking for a place to stay in the Saddleworth area.

We looked for a relaxing stay for my pregnant wife in the idyllic Saddleworth area and came across this absolute gem. Brand new for 2020, The Shippon has added two self-catering luxury chalets which we decided to give a try, and we were not disappointed.

As soon as you arrive you will meet the lovely host, Alice, and her equally lovely family, who have been running the Shippon for over 13 years. They knew we were expecting our first child so were kind enough to leave some cans of lemonade instead of a little bottle of wine, which was a lovely touch!

When we got the keys to the chalet and stepped inside, it was clear there has been no expense spared and every detail was covered. The open plan kitchen and living room is beautifully decorated in contemporary decor with all modern comforts. From bluetooth speakers built into the ceiling, really strong WiFi and a wide-screen TV, to a kitchen island filled with every glass you could ever need and modern comfy sofa with animal print luxury throws.

Being the middle of January, it was just above zero outside but with the electric fires and radiators on, it was already cosy warm when we arrived!

Most importantly, the double bed was super comfy, with super soft white bed linen which was perfect after a day of adventure in the local area. There's plenty to do nearby, but make sure you head to Grandpa Green's for breakfast in their outdoor igloos. An unexpected but really enjoyable idea!

Top tip: Just ask the hosts for the WiFi code as there is your own setup for the chalet which is really strong and perfect for a Netflix binge!

Thank you Alice and family, for a perfect pregnancy pamper weekend at your lovely chalets. I'm in the good books now!

I stayed for 2 nights in the lower chalet with friends, looking for a relaxing retreat. The chalet and outdoor fire pit area were decorated beautifully, full of little touches by Gwen, Alice and family that made our stay extra special and reflected how much thought, time and care goes into making each stay perfect for every guest!

The location was stunning, nestled in the peaceful village of Delph surround by beautiful views and an abundance of routes for hiking. On our last day we had a steady walk to Uppermill where there were various eateries and bars - not that it was necessary with everything needed in the Chalet.

The only downside was having to leave.. we are looking forward to another visit soon!

Seriously cannot recommend this place enough - Gwen, Mark and Alice were so helpful and accommodating, always at the end of a Text or Phone call if needed but not intrusive at all, left in absolute peace. The accommodation itself was modern, cosy and really well equipped and really clean. The little gifts were really nice and welcoming to arrive to, a lovely touch!

The Hot Tub is great - don't expect to rock up and turn it on straight away as it is a wood fired one, so you will need to start heating it up 3 hours or so before you want to use it but it is honestly worth the wait.. the view on a night time is fantastic from the hot tub, accompanied with the smell of the fire burning in the open air is fantastic.

The local village is very pretty, Delph, at the time of travel they were in Tier 3 which means all the Bars/Pubs were closed but some of them looked very traditional and cosy. There is a local Co-op about a 2 minute drive away which has everything required, but there is also a Tesco in Greenfield which is about 10 minutes so there are plenty of options locally.

My Girlfriend and I went on a walk in Glossop which is about a 45 minute drive away, to see the B29 Overexposed crash site just off Snake Pass, which is a really good walk, but there are plenty of lovely scenic walks locally to do also, as it is just off from Saddleworth on the M62.

Huge thank you again to Mark, Gwen and Alice and I will undoubtedly be back again soon!

The new chalets are a fantastic addition to The Shippon. Located next to the B&B perched on the side of the valley overlooking the village of Diggle in Saddleworth.
We stayed for 9 nights over Christmas - it was ideal, a real home from home.
Stylishly decorated and furnished the open plan sitting area and kitchen made entertaining family for Christmas lunch perfect.
The location makes access around the North easy with the M62 minutes away and of course the Saddleworth villages and moors are all on the doorstep

Thank you for taking the time to review our new chalets. I am so glad you enjoyed your stay, sorry I haven't responded until now but I haven't been looking at the reviews recently as we haven't had any guests since March. I do hope we will see you again in the not to distant future. I hope you have both stayed well during this very difficult time. We are re- opening for business from the 4th July, 2020

What can I say. Arrived to a friendly welcome. Beautiful spotless accommodation would definitely come back and recommend it to friends. The surrounding area is stunning ideal for walks, cycling although I would need an electric bike for the lovely hills.

Off to an evening wedding reception in Lydgate,so booked a night here. We were in the ground floor suitable for people with limited mobility. A lovely spacious bathroom and bedroom with the furnishings of very good quality. The breakfast was superb and plentiful with options other than a full English. The lady owner friendly and charity. The views from the guest house are stunning, Would recommend and return !
