I came here for a few days just to try and clear my head following a few tough breaks. And, if I'm honest, if I needed to do it again at this particular PI, then I wouldn't hesitate doing so.

The staff were absolutely spot on with all aspects. James, Julie, Sally (or was it Sarah? Sandy? There was someone there beginning with an S, I'm sure), Janice... all the FOH (front of house) staff were bang on and understanding with everything I may have ever needed.

The room itself was also spot on as well. Comfortable room throughout, and everything worked as it should have done.

Even if you were coming to Barnsley to stay and visit friends and family, come and see a show, or explore the town's historical sites - please do make use of this PI as it's close to most amenities and transport routes by bus and by train. Plenty of shops and eateries nearby for all tastes, too.

Stayed overnight. Self service check in which is self explanatory, but made easier for us as the receptionist was there when we checked in. Good social distancing arrangements. Parking is in the car park underneath the building, £5 for 24hrs....Premier Inn customers parking on 1st and 2nd floor to access lift or stairs. Comfortable bedroom, bathroom with shower and bath, complimentary soaps in dispensers. Tea coffee and milk, never enough, but plenty more given as well as extra pillows as only 1 each on the bed. Fairly large TV on the wall with Free view channels, not all available though. Port at the back for USB if you have any films downloaded. Volume quite poor.
Bed comfortable enough, but have slept in better. Unable to open the window even a crack. Wall switch which operates the fan, 20 degrees is the lowest setting. I personally could do with it a tad cooler so we didn't use it.
Dinner and breakfast can be taken at the Table Table restaurant The Glass House attached. Note tho, if you want breakfast you need to book. The receptionist didn't tell us that, and we were very lucky to get a table at all. Same goes for dinner.
Would stay again if in the area.

We’d planned a family weekend away due to my many other fantastic stays in premier inns I chose this hotel. The location is fantastic with fairly cheap nearby parking and some fairly decent views.

We arrived before the check in time so thought we’d try and check in early expecting to be told that rooms weren’t ready. However the very friendly receptionist called around and found two rooms that we could check into immediately. This was greatly appreciated after a long drive through storm Dennis!

After we’d been up to our rooms we decided to have a look around the local area. Not having a clue where to go we asked the same receptionist how to get into the town etc. She was very knowledgeable with the local area and parking which was handy as we weren’t sure how much it’d cost. She booked us in for dinner in the adjacent restaurant at the same time.

The rooms were the usual premier inn layout. These were however a little dated compared to other sites that I have stayed in. This didn’t affect our quality of sleep or stay though with the Hypnos bed living up to its name again!

If you’ve read any of my other reviews you’ll know that I always put minor things at the end so that premier inn can rectify them before someone complains and leaves a 1 star review! however these didn’t affect our stay at all.

Room number 312

The air conditioning at this particular site kept switching itself off at seemingly random times. It also reset itself to heat to 24c early in the morning which was a little annoying as I have to have a cool room to sleep in. However this was easy to reset.

There was a small amount of mould at the bottom of my window.

The bathroom floor was beginning to come up and the shower head was slightly dirty.

I’ll attach some pictures however this isn’t the usual premier inn standard and I’m sure this will be sorted so don’t let it put you off staying!

Overall I’d recommend this hotel and would stay here again.

Would stay clear. Front desk have no clue what they are doing. Someone else checked into our room. I received some bank account details of the other person in the email receipt. Was then offered the room for free when they finally found us a room then after going for a meal the reception then told us we had to pay as the person who made the mistake couldn't authorise a free room. Offered free breakfast the day after but was told this a 8am when I was checking out. Seriously consider staying somewhere else!

We have been staying at this Hotel for a few years now and always get a great welcome. The Hotel is in an ideal location for visitors, business, and leisure visitors. Very comfortable beds and clean rooms. We have had Dinner and Lunches on an regular basis and find the food is freshly prepared at a reasonable for Hotel prices.

A special mention to the reception Staff as usual were very helpful and po.ite when seeking assistance. We look forward to our next visit in a few weeks time.

We stayed Saturday night into Sunday and were disappointed with our stay. Upon arrival, there was no receptionist. We were left to check in using a machine that was complicated to first time users and when we were confused and looking for staff, we couldn’t find any. When we finally reached our room, we discovered we were placed at the very end of the long corridor, opposite a loud bar, even though the hotel appeared to be very quiet. In the room, we found our bathroom light to be broken and then we realised there was no telephone in the room for us to call reception. When we googled the hotels number, we could only find a number that charges to call. We went down to reception to report our broken light and again couldn’t see any staff members. Later on when there was finally a receptionist, we asked if we could have some fresh milk to take to the room. The staff member told us if we wanted fresh milk then we would need to go the shop. We have never experienced this in a hotel before as this is such a common request. Over night, there were loud guests above us which appeared as though they were running on the corridors. We rang reception to report this, using the number that charges to call, for reception to not answer the phone.
Overall we are very unhappy with our stay. We usually have such a pleasant experience at premier Inns but this was the worst we’ve had.

We stayed in Barnsley visiting friends in the area. The team are helpful and happy at work. We were waiting in reception for a food delivery but after ringing the takeaway we were told there was a delay. James on reception was very helpful and told us to go back up to our room and he would bring our food up to us. He brought us plates, napkins, knives and forks up to our room when he brought the food. When we were sat in reception he was chatty with us even though we were drunk. Really nice lad.
The hotel is central enough not to need a taxi from the centre but not located in the middle of the busy town centre meaning it was quiet at night.

Booked 2 rooms for family. One was booked as a disabled access. Booked online. When we finally found the hotel and only then found out we had to pay £5 a day for parking, we were told one room was on floor one the other on floor four. Spoke with the receptionist who was rude and abrupt. She moved my disabled son to the same floor as the rest of the family. She said his room was disabled access. It was a standard family room. My son had problems manovering his wheelchair in the room and was unable to use the bathroom. We were not asked if we needed help in the event the hotel had to be evacuated. Other hotels have always shown us this curtesy.

We stayed here for 1 night after needing to travel for a family function.
We stayed in room 104. I dont think the elephant in the room above us had a good night's sleep. I could here them walking back and forth from the sofa to the bed for hours. And the man next door could well have had covid from the amount he was coughing. It was an adjoining room and you could hear everything through that door.
The fire alarm went off twice during the night, not ideal when you're travelling with a child. I went to find out what was going on to be told it was the council building next door as they shared the same fire alarm system. I ended up with 4 hours broken sleep.
The sausages were overdone during breakfast and my "black" coffee was watery brown sludge. I informed the woman my coffee didn't look right, she made another 2 cups before I had to inform her the machine said it was out of beans. Even when she refilled it, it looked foul.
We had some bar food the evening before which was nice so it was just breakfast that was a let down.
All in all, I would not stay here again. And yes, I did complain twice while we were there.

Actually I slept very well, the bed was comfortable and the air con was perfect in the warm UK weather but the hotel itself is ready for a facelift. I booked a few weeks ago and the cheapest room was 108GBP much higher than I have ever paid before. It looks as if not much maintenance has been done since we last stayed.
The rooms are a good size, and appeared clean apart from the mugs which had ingrained rings. A lot of the features seem to be missing, like tissues, and the bog roll is more like tissue paper.
There was an HDMI socket under the TV but no USB charging. The wifi was diabolical, think 3G/dial up.
It was a bed for the night, the staff seemed pleasant, and the Tipsy Cow just round the corner was a great find, but at that price I was expecting more.
Also in the courtyard parents were letting their children run around screaming, not great for people wanting to sleep, or those in the flats, so perhaps ask for a room away from the courtyard if you are there to sleep.
Parking is in a separate facility 5GBP for 24 hours, not bad, and had a lift to get to reception.
