Four of us went to a themed dinner at this lovely rural pub/ Restaurent. The theme was Italian food and consisted of 5 courses each with a different Italian wine. It was a very jolly evening. They worked very hard, the Maitre'D gave a talk before each course explaining about the food and wine, which was illuminating and entertaining. The...

My friends and I booked into Crown & Garter for a 2-night stay over New Year's Eve, 2016 - our stay included 3 rooms and dinner. The rooms were great - comfortable and warm - the food was great, all made with local produce - but the most stand out feature of Crown & Garter was the super friendly staff....

Popped in on my cycle route to try one of your famous mince pies and Americano. I was disappointed in the quality of the pastry (very soft & fell apart easily) and the coffee was weak in taste. I do hope this is a one off as this coffee shop was recommended to me by a fellow cyclist group.

A great find. We wanted somewhere to meet friends halfway, walk our dogs and have some lunch. This was perfect. The pub website gives a fabulous circular walk of just over an hour. The pub lunch was excellent. Wonderful venison hotspot and a superb apple crumble. The staff couldn't have been more helpful both with the initial telephone booking and...

Our annual Hennessy Gold Cup trip with friends to Newbury races and we opt for this little gem. A small pub, in what feels like the middle of no-where when you come off the motorway, but stick with it, it's worth it. Rooms booked for Saturday evening but the group was due to meet for the taxi at 1030, Imagine...

A wonderful find, as long as you have SatNav. Beautiful old Inn which has been modernised. Staff are a delight. The food is all sourced locally and is outstanding. Dinner and Breakfast were delicious. The menus are not vast but this ensures that the very best food is served. The small amount of bedrooms are arranged around a garden courtyard....

I first stayed at the C&G 14 years ago and was impressed, even though in those days there was no wifi and no hairdryer! Both are there now... 😉. Being a business traveller I've been booked into other more central hotels since then when in the area but luckily for me I got double booked elsewhere and had to move....

Just enjoyed another excellent visit. On a very cold day, the fire was a welcome sight and we enjoyed the usual warm and comfortable surroundings and delicious cooking. We were there for lunch this time which was as good as the dinners we have enjoyed before. Service was as excellent as ever, and the perfect combination of friendly and discreet....

We stayed for one night, staff lovely, room wonderfully clean, modern and very comfortable. Hotel, bar, restaurant loved it all, but I personally was very disappointed with breakfast. My husband loved his cooked breakfast, which looked really nice, well cooked and with quality ingredients. I'm not a fan of cooked breakfast, but really enjoy a nice fresh, continental style. This...
