The Old Manor House is at the very opposite end of a continuum from cheerless corporate chains such as Travelodge. It’s a ‘boutique’ hotel before they invented boutique. We loved it: from the warm greeting on entry to the goodbye wave when we left. The hospitality was excellent. The lounge had a real family feel to it and was fascinatingly quirky (in a good way!). We had an excellent bedroom, with a genuine 16th century uneven and creaky floor. Our breakfast was homely and tasty. We would particularly recommend the Old Manor House to foreign visitors seeking a flavour of genuine and traditional English hospitality. 100%!

Amazing stay! Warmest welcome from Tom and Fran and their adorable family. The room was clean and charming and the bed was so comfy! Great full English in the morning too. Can't recommend this B&B enough. We also went to a lovely pub just 5min drive away by the river as recommended by Tom and Fran.

What a find!, this place is beautiful and quirky, full of history.
A warm welcome on arrival by Tom and Fran, our room was beautiful and overlooked the large garden. The room was spotlessly clean and had everything needed for a comfortable stay. The bed was so comfortable, I dont ever remember sleeping so well when away from home!
Lovely, peaceful location and perfect for our trip to Thorpe park, which was only 10 minutes away.
Breakfast in the morning was delicious and there was plenty of it.
Couldn't fault this lovely place and we will definitely be back!
Thanks Tom and Fran x

Tom and Fran are delightful. They couldn’t be more helpful.
This place is steeped in history.
The room we stayed in was “The King’s Room”. Full of character and with a very comfy bed and great shower.
Breakfast was lovely and plentiful.
I would highly recommend this place and will definitely return!

Unspoilt by the years and utterly amazing, like stepping back in time over 400 years ago, this is a rare find. The owners are delightful and breakfast was perfect for me. Will definitely stay again.

Unfortunately we can not confirm the other good ratings. This was the poorest B&B we have seen in many years visiting GB. The house is poorly maintained. Floors are worn off, windows are broken and poorly repaired with plastic foil. Furniture was damaged, closet without doors, the upper drawers dusty.
The garden could be nice, but is also not tended, beside the lawn.
By night the noise from the street is quite loud.
In every corner you can see that there is a lot of history in that house, but most artefacts a in a poor condition, proofing that the owner only wants to pull some more money out of it.
The host himself, who is not the owner gave a warm welcome. But we were astonished that we had to pay the full amount upfront. This was the first time during all our GB trips. We can confirm the pictures posted by GV-Hohenstein proofing the situation.
The breakfast was acceptable, but nothing extraordinary. We had to choose the breakfast the day before and event he cerials did not provide a big selection. The marmelade/jam jars were filled up every day, so I wonder how old the bottom layers were....

me my gf and a couple of friends stayed here for the recording of Russell Howard, it was the closest place to stay and it looked great on the website.
On arrival it looked a nice manor house with character, when we went it the place was true to what a old manor should be like, it had all the old decor and has great history.
We were greeted by the owners who were very pleasant, then we were shown our rooms.
I had the kings room, where we were told royals had stayed. The room was very clean and a very good size!
The bedding was nice a clean, thick quilts that were very warm and a comfy bed!
The only thing I did notice was a few gaps in the window where abit of draft came through, but these do seem to be the original style windows.
We had a good night's sleep, in the morning we had full English breakfast that we had ordered on arrival. The food was great and coffee was promptly available upon request.
It's was a great place and would recommend it to anybody.

A wonderful little jewel right next door to Shepperton studios, the Old Manor House is full of charm and history. A great place to explore Hampton Court, Teddington and Kingston. We were warmly welcomed by Cath who showed us to our room (Anne's Room), which was warm and cosy with the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in!

Dating back to the Elizabethan period, the house is full of photographs and wonderful paintings depicting its heritage, with a wonderful garden stretching out at the back. An excellent Breakfast is served around the big table in the dining room which overlooks the garden and I could have happily sat there all morning taking in the view.

So thank you very much Cath for your wonderful hospitality and lovely chats. We both hope to see you again.

We undertook a driving holiday, mainly of Scotland, from Heathrow airport, where we landed and hired a car, up as far north as the Orkney Islands and back again. We stayed primarily at bed & breakfasts found over the internet, checked out via Tripadvisor where possible.

This was an interesting place. It dates back to the reign of King Henry VII, and we stayed in the King’s Room - so called because King William IV actually spent the night in the bedroom. The house is accordingly very old, and is full of old paintings and furniture dating back over the centuries. Having breakfast was like dining in a National Trust House. The wooden floors creak, and ours (the floor in the King’s Room, on the first floor) actually sloped. The King’s Room was quite large, with an ensuite.

It is set in huge grounds, and we heard foxes calling to each other early in the night. Morag gave us a very friendly welcome. It was an easy drive to Windsor Castle.

The bathroom was stock-standard small, with a bath and hand-shower attachment but with heated towel rails. There’s coffee and tea and a flatscreen TV (though with dodgy reception). Breakfast was the usual choice of cereals and a cooked English breakfast. There’s plenty of off-street parking.

Interestingly, it’s across the road from Shepperton Studios, and the local pub, The Harrow, (a relatively long but not unpleasant walk) has seen the likes of Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, Peter O’Toole, Peter Sellars and Alfred Hitchcock.

This B & B was fine for a short time - but be warned, although it has character, it is old, and it shows (compare, for example, Fiddleback Farm, which I have reviewed too – it dates back to 1709, but has been modernised inside).

I spent 3 weeks at the manor house and i was genuinely sorry to leave. The house is wonderful and the grounds are delightful. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean and well maintained. The service is excellent Doug and Kath are the perfect hosts.Waking up to find fox cubs playing on the lawn only enhanced a very enjoyable stay.
