Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We only stayed overnight and originally booked a double room. Unfortunately I have some Mobilty issues so the owner very kindly put us in a more accessible room. Our room was large and comfortable, large en-suite and everything was spotless. The owners explained that they were in the middle of a big refurbishment so the outside of the building is not very appealing, but I’m sure when it’s finished it will look great. Parking is an issue, but that’s true of many town centre hotels. We managed to get a spot outside. We didn’t mind the breakfast, we knew what to expect, so it was fine. Compared to other places in Cornwall I felt that it was good value for money. The only reason I didn’t score 5 is because the outside needs to be completed, I’m sure when it’s finished it would be a 5.

Wow! This BnB is rustic and cosy. My partner is working in camelford and after seeing pictures of his room I decided to come with him and I’m so glad I did. The pub/restaurant downstairs is closed for renovations but this didn’t effect our stay in any way. Carol was a friendly and welcoming host she really couldn’t do enough for any of the guests. You have a microwave, fridge, and toaster just outside the room and cereal, yogurts, fruit, bread, butter, jams, pain au chocolats and milk is left you also have tea coffee and kettle in the room. At one point the WiFi went down but carol put a booster outside in the hallway and this was sorted immediately. The town is very quiet with not much to do but the people are extremely friendly & Newquay is only a 15 minute drive away. I would 💯 recommend a stay at the Darlington inn and would most definitely come back. The photos don’t do the room justice it has original beams and brickwork. Perfect for a quiet weekend away with a pub across the road for dinner and also take seats within 2 minutes of walking.

Originally written for Booking.com - We only used the room to sleep, in fairness it was clean, so did not let it ruin the Holiday!   Liked · The location was very good as it allowed easy travel to various attractions ,beaches etc.. Disliked · I accept it is a very old building, however there was no mention of the uneven floors or the awful access into the building. The room was very dark and in need of an update. Breakfast consisted of a basket left at the door with Muffins, Banana and croissants and a small fridge that was at the end of a corridor with milk etc.. would have been sufficient, however as the week progressed they became stale. We asked for clean towels as there was no where to hang wet ones, however they were replaced by damp towels covered in make-up !! We were afraid to mention this to the host as we had overheard an argument between the host and another guest, which was not very pleasant. In fairness when we did mention the Towels being covered in make up and being damp, they were changed again. No parking, it was suggested to use a carpark further up the village or to use a fee paying carpark in the opposite direction. Following our review, which was honest I received a direct text from the owner stating: Hi there, just received a very odd review from you suggesting you overheard an argument between hosts and a guest - not occurred, that parking was different to what was advertised, and that the building had uneven floors - it's 800 years old! In addition, we only serve fresh croissants each day - my son and other half eat anything left over and we do not intentionally hand out make up stained towels. We do request that guests give us the opportunity to rectify anything during their stay instead of leaving our very small business, public and damaging reviews. I've just looked on booking. Com. The cheapest place for 2 adults and a child near us for one night, not including breakfast is £269 and that is in a pre-pitched tent on a campsite! You didn't do too badly really did you? Many thanks Got to say that this is fantastic customer service! Would not recommend staying here unless you are prepared not to give an honest review.

We stayed here recently. Unfortunately everything feels well used and slightly dirty/smelly. Many problems with the room but owners do not care. The included breakfast was okay and the local pub is nice enough but that is about it. Older reviews are not accurate as apparently it has been taken over. Would definitely recommend staying elsewhere.

I was in Darlington Inn in May end 2021 and stayed in the hotel for 4 night during my leisure trip to Cornwall with my family. While writing this review, The following are the pros and Cons: PROS: 1. It is in promixmity to the main street shops 2. The landowner is cordial and prompt within the boudaries of her limitations. I appreciate that. 3. The breakfast was decent and was served at the room due to covid concerns. CONS: 1. It's a 300 old building shabbily refurbished into an inn. Checkin happened through WhatsApp . There was no actual reception area. 2. Parking was a serious issue. Only 2 makeshift parking place. Out of my 4 days of stay, I got lucky only once. Alternatively we needed to park up the hill in an alleyway. 3. Our room was bizarrely slanting towards the bedside. So when we got up, there is a tendency to fall. It is one of the bizarre experience I ever had. 4. The wifi hardly worked. The wifi was placed in the ground floor and it rarely reached the 1st floor due to the lack of a repeater on the floor. 5. There is no mobile phone signal on the floor which was bizarre. 6. The floors made heavy creaking sound which was disturbing. 7. There was just a tiny mirror in the room. 8. We had to do our own dishes ( Dont expect this to be your typical " Hotel") 9. There was an option to replace the towels. But bed sheets were never changed. In case you are required to change your bed sheets, you will need to pay an additional £35 for the same. This was inconvenient.

Hi we stayed a night in August then again on 25th October. We love this quirky quaint hotel. Rooms were warm comfortable spotless clean ..The couple that own it have gone to great lengths to adhere to Covid-19 regulations. But still it has a personal touch .we were made very welcome. Highly recommend. We will definitely return .well situated in a lovely little town Camelford we find it very central for other parts of Cornwall we visit

My husband booked this place for my 50th birthday after having a very difficult few weeks with bad news about my mums health, unfortunately this place is very run down with 2 very steep steps at the back of pub to get to the room with no safety rails which they do need, wearing our masks because of covid we went to our room, room 2 with bathroom with shower, but we had no hot water in sink for our 2 night stay which is very poor due to covid, there was blinds on window that still let light through all night no curtains so we kept waking up,no breakfast served but we knew that and understand because of covid, but i am sorry to say we will not be back, the place needs a total revamp of the whole place.

All sinks have hot running water but with an 800 year old building I'm afraid it may not be instant. The steps are forewarned about in your check in email.

No, none of our advertisements in anyway say there's a lift. None of our adverts anywhere say that we are a pub or Inn. On booking. Com we call ourselves the Darlington and do not say we serve any food or that we are a pub.

Stayed here for 3 nights. The rooms were very clean and tidy on arrival, very comfortable beds, we had a shared shower room that was cleaned every day and halls being hoovered and cleaned . I brought my dog, there was a lovely a river walk just down the road I took her on each morning. Great location for car journeys, roughly 20 mins for most locations I visited, just a bit disappointed the pub downstairs wasn’t open down below due to maintenance.. I would recommend, decent value for money
