Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Had a relaxing two-night stay at the Mad Hatter. Pauline was very friendly & chatty, bed & pillows were super comfy, choice of bath or shower, super cooked breakfast plus fresh fruit, cereal & yogurt, fab location - opposite the estuary & bus stop right outside. Lovely cake too! Pauline was very accommodating & I recommend staying here.

Visited Cornwall this weekend for the first time and went for some breakfast at the mad hatter. Wow THE BEST BREAKFAST I’ve ever had. I must say I am very fussy with foods and the lady who made it was so lovely and didnt disappoint atall!

Overall our experience was 10/10. We brought our puppy with us and the staff was so accommodating bringing him water over and giving him lots of attention.

We sat outside in their lovely garden.

I highly recommend!!

I would like to thank the staff for such lovely service

Spent 4 days at the Mad Hatter and the owner Pauline is friendly, welcoming, has high standards for hygiene, and feeds you up at breakfast !! On the first day, my son and myself ordered a full English on a giant crumpet. If that wasn't enough, Pauline offered us an extra sausage each !
Day 2 we ordered bacon sandwich and asked for horseradish which we got. We repeated this for the remaining days and horseradish duly arrived without us having to ask. Best complement is "things just happen at the Mad Hatter, allowing you to do one thing only. Relax !!". Not easy in Covid times, but made easy here. Well done !!

The host seemed to have no idea as to how to make guests feel welcome. She made jokes at our expense, was rude and insensitive. Our room was cramped and cluttered and did not reflect the price paid. The food was satisfactory but I was so ill at ease I could not enjoy it. Fortunately it was just for the one night and I shall not be going back.

If you feel like being mothered then pauline will definitely fit the bill. Arrived at 11pm . finished work at 9 went for food and fished the sea to unwind a little. Attitude for the late arrival was shocking. Bare in mind we travel and stay all over the uk and are usually contacted prior to our arrival by the owner's. 12pm loud music playing from next door. Very weird decor . shared shower facilities. Would definitely not recommended this place. Also no parking. And would be nice to have breakfast in peace.

Pauline, Mark and staff are lovely and make you feel really at ease. A choice of breakfasts. Excellent home cooked food. Bedrooms really comfortable. Tea and coffee in bedroom too. Magical Madhatter themed tearoom. There's a courtyard where you can sit and have an afternoon tea if you want to sit outside. Lovely clean place. They really do go the extra mile. Would recommend. Thankyou Pauline and Mark for a really lovely stay. Jean and Mick.

We stayed in the Mad Hatter bed & breakfast / tearooms for 2 nights. My 2 daughters had a room & me & the wife another. All rooms were perfectly clean and beds very comfy. Toilets and bathrooms were lovely at all times. We took our dog Marley along who was made very welcome. Pauline gave him a sausage each morning which he loved. The breakfasts were fantastic too. Full English / cereal etc. I would recommend staying here. All guests we talked to enjoyed their stays. I had some porridge with honey on day 2, was gorgeous! There is a nice theme to the place of the mad hatters tea party, my daughter Isla liked this alot.

Thanks to Pauline and everybody at Mad Hatters!

We stumbled across the mad hatter whilst walking around Hayle. Lovely cream tea whilst sat in the garden at the rear having a chat with the host. Nice place and would recommend a visit. All well controlled from a COVID point of view.

We really enjoyed our cream teas here. Love the fact the scones were really warm and homemade. Lovely welcoming, dog friendly, courtyard garden to sit in to enjoy it too. Very friendly owners. Would definitely recommend.
