Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I’m not sure where to start. The hotel is gorgeous and the location unrivalled. We did have a little hiccup at the start of our stay but the amazing guest relations team headed up by Daniel, and the truly wonderful Cat brought it around right away and made our stay, which was an early birthday celebration, absolutely incredible. Our room was amazing, with the most beautiful views out to sea. Waking up to the sound of waves crashing was perfect. We were warned there might be some sound from the nearby building works but I heard one bang and that was it, it really didn’t impact our stay (you can see the scaffolding from the hotel, especially the hot tub though, but no big deal, there’s plenty of view left unobstructed). It’s an adults only hotel, which we loved as we are parents and didn’t want other people’s kids around when we didn’t have our own, it does make the stay that much more relaxing too, we find. We went in the spa both days and loved how unique it was, and the views again were gorgeous. The sauna on the cliff side was a personal favourite, along with the private hot tub (this is bookable and chargeable, unless you have it included in a package as we did). We didn’t have dinner as we ate at Stable Pizza before arriving, but the food looked amazing. We did have breakfast which was absolutely incredible. The waffles were the best I’ve ever eaten and again, lovely views across to sea whilst eating. I want to thank Daniel, Cat and the rest of the team once again for such a perfect stay. We will definitely be back as soon as we can get another child free break!

This hotel simply is stunning and it feels more like a five star. They really go the extra mile to make you feel special. Spectacular views excellent food and service. We booked a cliff top hot tub and massages and the copper bath. Would strongly recommend.the breakfast served to the room is such a good perk. Staff are attentive and friendly. The only thing I could fault was we had to wait a while to be checked in we arrived at 1pm and had to wait until 4pm. They do explain they try to accommodate your arrival time but this is never guaranteed, 4pm does seem a bit late. But regardless, we enjoyed our stay very much and will definitely return. Strongly recommend this hotel, one of the best places I have stayed.

This was a return trip to The Scarlet Hotel and it didn't disapoint. The first thing that strikes you upon arrival is the breathtaking beauty of the surroundings. The architecture seamlessly blends with the natural environment, creating a harmonious and peaceful atmosphere that instantly transports you to a state of blissful serenity. Upon entering the hotel, we were greeted with warm smiles and impeccable service that sets the tone for the entire stay. A big thank you to Daniel Nowak who personally took the time to check in with us throughout our stay and ensured all of our needs were met. Nothing short of perfect. We enjoyed dining at the in-house restaurant on two evenings, the food was incredible! Equally matched by the team who are incredibly attentive while creating a very relaxed environment. Breakfast at the Scarlet is perfect. Views of sea, an incredible offering of dishes (Granola is incredible!) and the most friendly team looking after you. The spa has fantastic amenities on offer including a wide range of treatments. We both had treatments which were first class. Thank you Daniel and the full Scarlet team. We will be back soon!

The Scarlet Hotel in Mawgan Porth is simply one of my favourite places to stay in the world. This adult only hotel is perched on the cliff top in Mawgan Porth with direct access to the South West Coast Path. Every room in the hotel has views over the bay and there are a number of lounge areas in the hotel with spectacular views. The hotel restaurant is top quality, cooking with local produce and inventive menus. The breakfast is plentiful, with lots of choice and you can order as much as you like- we did not need lunch after breakfast. Breakfast is made to order and served to your table so the food is much fresher than a buffet. There is a fabulous spa with indoor and outdoor pools, treatments, complimentary wellness classes, and relaxation areas. There is a sauna and hot tubs in the garden with views over the bay (there is an extra charge for these). There are lots of places to sit in the garden and watch the waves. With direct access to the coast path from the garden, it is a 5-10 min walk directly onto the beach but not at high tide! The hotel has a number of dog friendly rooms. Dogs are not allowed in the restaurant but are allowed in most other parts of the hotel. Guest with dogs are served breakfast in the bar area. Service was great. Overall, the hotel has a marvellous relaxed, calm feel and the views are simply breathtaking.

Spent a couple of days at the Scarlet, enjoyed the constantly changing sea/sky vistas viewed from our sea facing room, and the mighty roar of the Atlantic ocean. A very special adults only hotel at my favourite location of Mawgan Porth.

A wonderful, generous hotel in a crazily good location. We rebooked before leaving. The spa is fabulous, the staff and service across the board welcoming, kind and expert, glorious Mawgan Porth beach, food and drink first rate.

I love this place! Came here 2 years ago and it is just as good/better this time . The atmosphere is so calm, the staff are efficient, friendly but discreet. The rooms are beautiful and relaxing and the food is fresh and delicious. We bought our dog this time (she stayed in the room, didn’t come into the restaurant) who was well catered for. We had a half hour booked in a cliff top hot tub, drinking Prosecco which was so gorgeous; even in the rain! Apparently Cate Blanchett is building a huge house next door and we were warned about the noise but really didn’t notice any. The place somehow works magic; it is in such a stunning location whose views are mesmerising. Thank you Scarlet!

I used to visit the Scarlet each year before the pandemic. I wasn't sure about coming back in case it had changed. Thankfully, it hasn't changed. The team is friendly and helpful. The room was perfect with amazing views and the spa is exceptional. I had a wonderful relaxing 4 day stay. My advice to anyone staying is to ensure you take advantage of all the facilities and spoil yourself in the spa. The relaxation areas and pools add to the experience.

We had been to the sister Hotel Bedruthan which we loved so wanted to try the Scarlet for a special occasion. We came for my 50th Birthday for the 3day Scarlet Signature Experience. The staff were exceptional at making my 50th a magical experience. Taking into account many people come here for a special occasion, they managed to make us feel very special. I would definitely recommend the 3day Experience as for all it offers was really good value. Excellent Service, Ambience ,Location, Spa, Nature, Views, Food, Drinks….everything you need for a special celebration.

If you want a really special treat this is the spa hotel to go to. Never been to a spa hotel before but it was a lot of fun hot tubs overlooking the sea, sauna cabin, Rahul (never heard of that )freezing natural spring for the really brave good food comfy beds and lots of different treatments. Costs a lot so but very special if you want to be pampered. View over the sea and opens directly onto coastal path. We caught the train and then caught a taxi from didcot parkwayso did not have to drive. Weather was dreadful but you can’t have everything in March
