Property's Favourite Review
We can not fault anything about our stay at the Sun Haven, Mawgan Porth. We had a fantastic week and pretty decent weather to! Staff were amazing and any "very minor" issue we had it was sorted immediately! Rooms were very clean, we had a dog friendly one and you wouldn't know as it had no dog smells at all. I think its the first place we have stayed that everything worked as it should and haven't had to call for maintenance. Was very cosy and comfortable, heating was great for the cooler days! If I could, I would have bought the pillows home as they were lovely! The walk through the woods to the beach was a pleasure and (for Cornwall) a flat walk! We loved our stay so much and didn't want to come home! The locals were friendly, always happy to stop and chat. The beach, what can I say, it was amazing! Sandy, with a lovely fresh water stream running through it which was great for the dogs. Shout out to RNLI as well who were there daily looking out for the swimmers and surfers making you feel safe in the sea. We had such fun in the sea with the body boards as the waves were big! We will definitely be back and recommending to friends

What a fabulous site. Despite significant nerves over Covid, we were made to feel very relaxed and welcome from the outset. Spotlessly clean with excellent Covid policies and ways of doing things. Really friendly and helpful staff with a really big pitch and great location. This is a small site so it’s not crowded and it means access to the showers is no problem. There is a very nice family bathroom, laundry and all the normal bits and pieces. Large playground for the kids and a bug hotel for them to look at. 20 minute walk to the beach and pub, along a really beautiful woodland walk, with a pretty stream. Mawgan Porth itself has all the necessaries in a small village. Selection of food sources, a deli and a few shops. Beach is gorgeous and not overly crowded and it’s a short drive to other surf locations. Walk 5 minutes the other way to a completely different drinking spot known as Rettorick Mill. Lovely again and really different. Overall, the perfect campsite, perfect size, ultra friendly and helpful, really well organised and spotlessly clean, in a fab location.

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
We stayed at the site many times when the previous owners ran it we haven't stayed for 8 years. The site is now owned by Lovat and has been upgraded quite a bit. Lots of new caravans and one part large privately owned lodges. The camp site looked the same size as the last time we stayed.
We booked a 3 bed caravan, which was fitted with all mod cons, it had good wifi, a smart TV, a good powerful shower and modern kitchen it also had a small decking area to the front. The caravan is advertised as 8 berth, but personally I think 4 is ample. I would not like to be staying in one with another 7 people. There is facilities to wash wetsuits and the dog after being on the beach which was very useful. The site is very dog friendly which we liked and there were many well behaved dogs on site and as far as we could tell all with responsible owners.
We had some takeaway food from the Cornish Maid takeaway and it was delicious, but not cheap. £9.50 for a large burger. But hey ho we are on holiday.
The walk to the beach is about a mile through a lovely wooded area, which is great as no worries about parking charges or even trying to find a parking space.
The staff on site were very friendly and helpful.
We really enjoyed our stay and will visit again.
My only thing which I was not keen on is not being able to park the car by the caravan, it had to be parked in the car park which to be honest was only a short walk. But I like the car by us for security, as this site does not have any access barriers anymore and anyone can drive in without being checked.
Only a small criticism and it won't stop us going back to a very well run and well maintained site.

We have stayed here happily 3 times before Lovat Holiday Parks took over.
Potentially a great site and location if the issues below are sorted long term :-
Appalling water pressure meant ladies showers unusable ie water trickles down wall and hair washing not possible.
Bathroom blocks - no dry area in shower cubicles, only overdoor hooks too high for people & youngsters under 5ft. Needed a flip down seat. No privacy cubicles for washes/ tooth brushing for campers so hand basins being used for everything including hair washing.
Poorly designed waste water area for caravanners who could use their own facilities ie too far from far end of site, surface looked nice but wheels got stuck in the design and no ramp so heavy grey water containers had to be lifted up to empty. Incorrect labelling ( should be grey water and Elson point not water & grey water) No hand washing facility or sanitizer for use after emptying.
Rules and regulations not made clear or enforced - drinking water tap used for pots, hand washing & tooth brushing, young children not accompanied to toilets and playground, noise after 10pm. (Kept awake as late as 1pm from noisy adults)
Safety regulations regarding distance between pitches contravened by allowing more than 1 vehicle per pitch
Priced as a luxury site, we paid £65 per night but apart from the lack of washing facilities etc there was no TV signal & wifi charged at £20 was too poor to use for which people were re embursed. 'Off grid' is fine if weathers good but should be reflected in the cost.
We expected site in August post pandemic to be busy but the cleaners and
facilities couldn't keep up with the demand.
There were some new good features such as playground, dog & wet suit showers, food vendors in the evening and breakfast cafe so the overall experience was disappointing especially as the warden was not a presence and many of these issues have been raised before eg water pressure review in 2020

The location of this site is perfect, it is very clean and safe and the amenities are top notch and great for a few nights or longer. There was a pop up pizza stand on Saturday which was great for all the kids staying at the site, there is a great pub walkable in the village for the adults. This site has everything you need, in the current climate there were no causes for concern whatsoever, a special mention to Jason who was very helpful and the staff member ( mature gent West Ham fan) he never stopped cleaning. Highly recommended we will be back.

Sun Haven has a great location - just 20 minutes through pleasant woodland to the Mawgan Porth and the beach so no parking charges! It's £5 if you do want to park the car.
We were in the touring area which is flat and peaceful and separate from the statics which are on a steep slope. More lodges are being put in so at times there is some noise from the construction work but it's not too disruptive.
The toilets and showers are SO clean. I wouldn't object to eating in here! They are cleaned every hour by a great young guy called Daryl and someone else in the evening. Whatever time of day I went in, they looked as if they had never been used. Soap and toilet paper was always in good supply. There are hairdryers and even straighteners.
The showers could really benefit with a shelf to put a wash bag on and lower hooks on the doors for shorties like myself - but that's a minor irritation and was solved by taking everything in a carrier bag so it didn't get wet on the floor.
The dishwashing area was always clean and the site was very well maintained. The flowers were gorgeous and the gardener obviously puts in a lot of hours. All staff were helpful and although it is part of Lovat Parks, it hasn't lost that small and friendly personal touch which we feel is important.
Hand sanitiser is everywhere - even in the recycling area....what a great idea!
There's a great outdoor dining cafe called Off the Path just outside the entrance.
What really impressed us was that as we were packing up, a member of staff drove round and asked if we had enjoyed our stay and if we had any suggestions for improvements. That's never happened anywhere else before.
High Five Sun Haven!

Booked into Sun Haven on a recommendation from a local caravan park.. I was impressed straight away by the lady I spoke to, making me feel very valued
We were fortunate to be able to have one of the latest luxury caravans and wow were we impressed!
Sanitary sealed on arrival ,it was spotless. The sight is very well laid out and private and very pretty just a 5 min drive form the beach and Mawgan Porth village, or a pleasant walk .
Great pubs nearby and the lovely Japanese Gardens and tea shop in beautiful village of St Mawgan.
Twin bedrooms a bit snug but that's not unusual for caravans so I slept out in the lounge which was fine .
Our only niggle was that the patio door in lounge had sadly dropped and was unlockable during our stay (another reason for my sleeping in lounge!) but as it was very quiet everywhere and we had no valuables that we left in van,it wasn't a real problem to us, maybe if it had been busier??
Nothing was too much trouble and all the staff were lovely, so thank you. We will return and soon !!

Love this site it's position is fabulous with only 15 min walk to the beach
The staff are maintaining the cleanliness exceptionally well.
We have the perfect pitch in full sun all day and currently on day 2 sat outside our tent in the peace and quiet at 7am listening to the birds.
Only moan we have is the showers. Sounds like others feel the same as it's the topic of conversation in the ladies. They are newly built so lovely and clean but the shower heads are fixed and too close to the wall... quite literally have my nose or bum pressed against the wall to catch the water. There is also only 2 mirrors in the toilet side of the ladies and none around the sinks. If these issues were rectified this site is most definately a 10/10.
Most certainly value for money and we are already planning to revisit.

We stayed at Sun haven for the first time. Found the site on google and it certainly didn’t disappoint. The caravan we stayed in was especially for pets but not that you could tell. It was immaculate and cleanliness was outstanding. There was little extras left for us too, washing up liquid, fudge, tea towels.. it was these extras that show they care about guests.
The walk to beach was beautiful and just perfect to let dogs off to explore. The beach is Sandy with a fresh water stream running down it. This meant that dogs can get a drink when hot. Lots of cafes and restaurants on the beach front.
We couldn’t have asked for more. The weather was beautiful which helped with exploring the local area. Yes the roads are narrow and winding but that’s to be expected in cornwall!
The little food shack that pitches on the park some weekdays sold gorgeous food and was great when we didn’t want to leave to find a place to eat.
We will be returning. What a lovely place to make memories

I booked a pet friendly caravan for 4 nights for a surprise for my husbands 41th birthday as he’s always wanted to visit Cornwall. Sun haven is such a tranquil and stunning site, they really have accommodated everything you could ever need on a holiday. Caravan was beautiful, beds fresh and clean, they even left a fresh pint of milk and tea and coffee supplies & a box of Cornish cookies for our arrival which really was a lovely thing to do. There is a simply stunning walk threw the trees to such a stunning beach cove which is dog friendly too. Weather wasn’t really on our side as was very hit and miss but saying that we had an amazing week break away. I was so sad to be leaving at end of the week and we really can’t wait till we return which will be happening very soon. On site you have doggy showers which was a brilliant touch and also doggy stations filled with dog treats and water bowls all around the site. Staff was very welcoming and friendly. This is the best holiday park I have ever visited in the Uk and was such good value for money. I really can’t recommend this site enough all I can say is book it and go and have the most amazing holiday ever just like we did. You really won’t be disappointed. Thankyou so much Sun Haven Holiday Park, we can’t wait to visit again soon with even more family members.

Not 100% sure but I think I remember seeing about Tesco deliveries in the welcome pack in that they do deliver to the office.
No pod coffee machine in ours. There was a cafetière though.
Yes the decking is fully enclosed,we had two dogs with us and neither of them seemed bothered with sitting out there in the evening with us. You can open the patio doors up to allow them access, just be aware that being plastic the decking can be slippery first thing in the morning. Hope this helps.
Yes there is a freezer for the ice packs.
