Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A friend who is a local recommended this pub. We had a lovely meal and the staff were really friendly. If you order the fish and chips make sure you have someone to carry you home because generous portions seems to be the chefs strong point. Everything tasted fresh and cooked well. Good selection of beer’s and to top it off it’s a proper pub with a great atmosphere. Thank you for the welcome it was much appreciated. Sally and Carl

Wonderful atmosphere and very friendly service. Food was the best we had on our trip to the west country. Wish we could go every day. Well worth the drive down the narrow streets, locals very welcoming.

Advertised as 'the best fish and chips in Cornwall' and it did not disappoint. Food was amazing, fish was huge, thick and cooked beautifully. We will definitely will be returning next time we are in cornwall

Lovely friendly atmosphere, ordered food, very greasy, fish pie with chips not recommended. Lovely place and people. Can’t fault the pub it’s a great place, maybe the other food was nice, who knows. Great harbour though, great pastry shop near by-Cornish pastries. 👍

Lovely pub visited many times over the years when traveling to mevagissey. Food was excellent and the pint of tribute was nice. Only negative the girl serving was either new or untrained never really spoke when serving and forgot to bring steak knives even after being asked. But after a quick chat with the manager soon sorted

We visited Mevagissy for the day on a family holidays we have been here many times and love it more and more each time. This would be the first time we have visited this particular pub I can tell you it won’t be the last. We all had the fish and chips. It was utterly sublime. The best fish and chips I’ve ever had. The batter wasn’t too heavy, fish was beautiful and succulent throughout. Without a doubt the whole meal and experience was to die for. Staff really friendly, lovely location and decor! 200% recommend to anyone

My wife and I was recommended this place and we wasn’t disappointed. I had the fish pie which had l decent amount of cod and salmon and was very tasty. My wife had the lasagna and chips, the lasagna was possibly one of the best we have had anywhere including Italy. The pub itself felt like a step back in time and what a lovely spot in a lovely part of the country.

We booked a table for five (+ dog) for a family reunion lunch. We ate in the back bar which allowed us to have a lovely large table to spread out around. Three of us had the scallops which were delicious served with tasty chunky chips and salad - the others had the fish pie and the ham, egg & chips. Everyone enjoyed the food! It was fairly quiet on the day we visited, but I would think that advance booking for meals would be advisable.

We were lucky to find this great little pub and have an early drink. It’s a proper old Cornish pub with history seeping out of every corner. The landlady was friendly, and many locals obviously enjoyed visiting too. We are not local but we shall definitely visit again to enjoy the great drinks, service and atmosphere.
