Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Good value for the room. Has a very nice shower and TV. 2 single beds together for a large bed. Lots of plug sockets and good Tea and Coffee facilities. Good parking. However WiFi is non existent, it needs an extender to the room. The room would be fantastic with a mini fridge for people with medications and to keep drinks cool. The house is on a very steep hill, so if you are comfortable with walking.. drive. The other thing is some of the other rooms now have tenants and the one above the room has a dog, which growls at you when you are trying to get in your door.. really off-putting. Needs website updating.

Room Tip: If you don't like climbing hills, use the car. For diabetics, invest in a small fridge.

Amazing views from our room. Very clean room with an exceptional shower and comfy beds. Wonderful host (Susie). Great value for money. Reading previous comments about the steep hill, yes but it kept us fit. Fully recommend and will be staying again

Apparently due to a change in circumstances the owner now only rents out one room. There is no access to a kitchen. First the ups; the room is very clean and the twin beds together do make one large bed. On the downside the single track private road up to Bacchus is scarily steep; the first 200 yards was similar to the incline on a roller coaster, it then continues upwards for about a quarter of a mile. Too steep to walk back from the pub. The en suite is very small, though the shower is a good one. For “pricey “ Mevagissey this is a good rate if you can cope with the steep hill.

We do alot of touring on the Harley and have stayed in some fantastic places (and some horrible ones) but Bacchus was the cleanest, most well equipped and best place we've stayed in so far. It was absolutely home from home. The views across Mevagissey harbour were second to none. The rooms are self catering, as in theres a shared kitchen, but its somehow just seemed to work, theres plenty of space and the kitchen was well equipped. Theres a beautiful balcony with plenty of seating and a very large table.

On arrival we were greeted by Tommy. Such a friendly guy. We were told we were the last guests ever under the current arrangements. What a privilege. We stayed for three nights for what was our first ever visit to Cornwall. The en suite room was very comfortable and had superb views down to the harbour. We shall look back on this trip with very fond memories.

The accommodation was very clean and comfortable. Guests have use of the kitchen as no breakfast is provided, but you can cook your own. Tea, coffee and milk is provided in the kitchen as well as in rooms. Owners were very friendly and welcoming. There is a lovely terrace for guests with views of the sea. You can walk into Mevagissey but it’s a very steep walk back to the accommodation. Would definitely stay again next time we visit Mevagissey.

Friendly welcome met by Tommy, who was very helpful and informative regarding our stay in Mevagissey. You will be overwhelmed by the view from the terrace. The rooms are spotlessly clean, spacious, beds are very comfortable with ensuite. Large kitchen with all utensils needed to cook a full meal or snack. Parking available on site or the is a public car park a few minutes away. Also, table and chairs in kitchen as well as the terrace. Meviagissey is a 5 minute walk, with pubs, restaurants, shops and the harbour with a small beach. Thank you so much for an enjoyable stay.

Bacchus is a lovely place to stay with fantastic views over Mevagissey from a sheltered elevated terrace. The accommodation included a comfortable room with en-suite and use of a well stocked shared kitchen with a large fridge-freezer,dishwasher and a microwave oven. You could make your own simple meals and eat at the kitchen table or on the terrace if fine. As Coeliacs, needing gluten-free food, this suited us well.. The proprietors were friendly and helpful, kindly providing us with a lift to the bus stop for our return journey. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay but this venue would not suit everyone as the approach is very steep if you're on foot.! Car users would welcome the free parking which is at a premium in the town below.

Lovely place to stay with great views, on a very steep hill so not good for people with mobility problems unless they are happy to drive up and down all the time. Lovely people and lovely rooms. There is a very nice patio area where you can have you meals or sit with a glass of wine and enjoy the wonderful views
