The hotel is lovely and I was keen to experience a stay as knew Mullion Cove well from previous visits. I booked a superior sea view twin room and paid a high price for quite a small room with limited seaview. The view from the balcony was lovely but the area needed sweeping before arrival of guests and i also needed to move the chairs and myself before I could use.
The balcony door lock was broken and as a result there was a terrible draught which I resolved
placing the bed cushions in front of the door overnight! I reported the problem and after a day the door was fixed but the lock remained faulty. The dining room was very expensive so dined out most evenings, for the price I paid especially out of season, I think the evening meal should included. Please also check your bill on departure as I was charged for 2 papers I did not receive.
A lovely location for a hotel.. I would recommend for a treat but was slightly disappointed as expected a larger room with more luxury for the price paid.

We are returning customers, we have visited many times over the years, probably too many as quite pricey, but what a location! We stay in the same room each time with our dogs and we can't recommend enough paying for the sea view. If the hotel is busy with other dogs it is so nice to have to option of having breakfast delivered to your room which we have skating used many times, when it's quiet the team go above and beyond to cater for you and your pooches. I am a plant based vegan and it can be difficult to find meals in all traditional establishments especially when they are not aimed at our demographic but I cannot make any complaints because just being there is a joy. The spa was a lovely feature we got to enjoy on our last visit and we just cannot wait until we can book the next. Bed
is very comfy! That's a rarity with every other hotel we have stayed in so it is very important that it must be mentioned on this occasion.

The Mullion Cove hotel has been my favorite place to stay in Cornwall for the past decade. This year was a special occasion for me. My adult children, some close friends joined us for the first time. The hotel did not disappoint. From checking in to checking out the whole stay was fantastic. All the staff were polite, curtious and nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent and full of flavour, with different menu choices each night, The vegan options were very good and made our two vegans very happy. The rooms were spotless and the choice of tea and coffees very good with the homemade biscuits a nice touch. The beds lended to a fine nights sleep. The location is a great location for walking the Lizard and its position on top of the cliff is stunning. But my overall thought is the staff. Wonderful people.

Unbelievable Apartment Location but some improvements needed in maintenance and customer service.

Liked · We stayed in a 2 bed harbour apartment, Penelope, at the top of the building and the location was extraordinary. Mullion cove is stunning and so much more peaceful and unspoiled than many other nearby tourist destinations. The apartments have amazing views and are very well equipped. It was generally very clean and the Covid precautions were good. The spa was nice, very professional and reasonably priced. The bistro food which had delivered to the apartment was great, quick and hot. A very different food experience to breakfast!

Disliked · The apartment was really well equipped and generally very stylish but there were a few issues. The sofa was stained and dirty, there were marks on the walls, the knobs had fallen off the wardrobe doors, there was only one white wine glass, the toilet roll holder was broken, the bed was quite soft. We didn’t get good sleep because the apartment is at the top of the building so gets really hot. When there are strong winds or rain you can’t sleep with the windows open easily so it would have been nice to have more flexible bedding options. We were only given a winter weight duvet and no sheets or blankets or anything. We ended up leaving a night early as we got terrible sleep the whole stay from the combination the heat and the soft bed.

Communication before our stay was poor. We pre paid in advance on a rate including breakfast at the neighbouring hotel. A few days before our arrival a receptionist caed to tell us our key would be in a key box and to give the code. I enquired about the breakfast timing and she said it wasn’t included in apartment stays. I told her it was clearly included in my booking but she said it was wrong so we couldn’t get breakfast. She didn’t follow up or get back to me so I sent an email to the hotel querying this and asking if any else about our booking had been falsely advertised or changed. Noone had the decency to respond so I called Booking.com who were brilliant. They reassured me that I should get breakfast or a refund for that and rang the hotel to ensure they included it. The hotel agreed and Booking.com rang me back to confirm. However no one from the hotel ever acknowledged, confirmed or apologised for this. I had to reconfirm it again on arriving at the restaurant which made us feel like we were awkward or asking for special treatment. Breakfast is more than 14 pounds per head so for 7 nights for 2 it equates to around 210 for the stay! Ironically when we actually went for our first breakfast it was very poor quality. On top of all of this, when we went to check out they tried to charge us again for the room rate even though we had pre paid through Booking.Com and we had to prove we had with paper receipts. Luckily based on previous experience I had anticipated they would be difficult so I had what I needed with me!

My wife booked us into The Mullion Cove for a birthday treat and it was perfect! On arrival we were greeted by the manager who was super friendly and our check in was easy giving us more time to enjoy our break. The hotel have taken covid seriously and you can see the lengths they have gone to to make the guests and staff safe while at the same time not feeling too militant. Great little welcome letter in the room explaining it all too. Some measures were very welcome, we had the same lovely table with a view for dinner and breakfast! Little hand sanitiser bottle in the room was a nice touch along with a selection of cleaning bits should we need them.

Room was spotless, warm and very comfortable. We ordered drinks to our room to enjoy while making the most of our view of the cove. Again, great, prompt Covid secure service. Dinner in the restaurant was fabulous. Service was spot on and food was really tasty (my mouth waters as I remember belly pork and scallops!). Happy and full we enjoyed a peaceful nights sleep.

Breakfast lived up to dinner. Full Cornish for me, amazing. Salmon and eggs for my wife. Cooked to perfection. Plus all the usual breakfast items as you order them instead of buffet style which I don’t mind at all, quite nice to be served breakfast instead of fetching it!

Check out was a doddle, room bill delivered as promised pre 9am - actually felt a lot more relaxed reviewing it while I brushed my teeth. No pressured moments at the reception desk counting up last nights drinks bill while other guests wait for you! Quick payment over the phone to reception and chuck the keys in on the way out, what could be simpler!

Can’t wait for our next stay, would highly recommend.

Mullion Cove Hotel  has a to die for location perched on the cliffs looking directly over Mullion Cove. There is a lot to explore in this part of the coast and Mullion Cove is a good place to base yourself. For a 3 day itinerary, visit my travel blog.

It is not a cheap option though, probably because it has a spa.  The spa has an outside pool, a small indoor hydrotherapy pool and there is also a steam room.  The hydrotherapy pool was shut for maintenance on one of the days we were there. The changing rooms are closed during the Covid-19 restrictions which means that you have to go outside to reach the spa.

If you want a spacious room with a sea view, you will pay a considerable chunk for the upgrade.  Prices vary according to season etc., but you could be paying a hefty 50% extra. The rooms are already expensive, so we opted for a standard double with a partial sea view.  It was pleasant enough, but not great value for money and a bit of a squash.  The bathroom was tired and in need of some renovation too.

Although it isn't well advertised, a variety of fresh seafood platters are available to order a day or so in advance.  They are pretty expensive though at £65 pp.

Also worth mentioning is that the hotel has a useful booklet with a variety of local walks you can do close by the hotel which is worth requesting from Reception.

We had no high expectations when we hooked this trip, but boy were we pleasantly surprised!

The exterior of the hotel does not really do it justice.

Firstly all the staff are professional, super friendly and attentive. You could not fault the enthusiasm of the staff.

We have been to large imposing Cornish hotels, but this little gem exudes cosy, comfortable charm and is very well appointed and the views are amazing!
The hotel has been refurbished so a good standard. The bedrooms are cosy and comfortable and the underfloor bathroom heating is a treat with the addition of bath and separate shower. The beds are super comfortable and the rooms are not over heated so giving a comfortable nights sleep.
The food is exceptional!!! We have eaten in many places but must confess we could not fault the dining here. The chefs are to be commended for their creativity, flavours and presentation. We have eaten in the restaurant for 2 nights and look forward to our final night tomorrow!
Sadly lockdown brings our Mullion Cove adventure to an end.

We also visited the Spa pool, outside hot tub, salt room, steam room and sauna and bring able to view the sunsets over the horizon whilst sitting in the bubbling pool was an absolute treat! So very relaxing after a 5hr coastal walk. Just what we needed to ease our throbbing feet!

We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be happy to return and urge anyone who has an appreciation for food to give this little gem of place a try.

Dear MGilbert2 Thank you ever so much for your wonderful review of Mullion Cove Hotel & Spa. I was over the moon to read your fantastic review and I will pass on your comments to our super friendly and attentive front of house staff and shall certainly pass on your comments regarding your dining experience onto James and his kitchen brigade. The spa is a recently new addition to the hotel and its fantastic to read so many guests are enjoying this facility. With regards other exterior of the hotel, you'll be happy to hear that we had a small facelift during the November lockdown and the building now has a fresh coat of paint and now looks very smart! Let's start with the positives, the hotel is in a great location with easy access to the South West Coast path and fabulous views. The staff in the main were friendly and helpful and they seemed to have good Covid-19 protocols. The Spa/hot tub we enjoyed and this area is obviously newer than the hotel. We enjoyed some good food and some not so good food.

The less than positive started on arrival when as we were a little early we were not at all put out to be asked to wait in the bar, we were put out that the receptionist then completely forgot about us and we had to go back to reception to find out what was happening.

We then were severely disappointed in our room which was tiny and very dated. At breakfast the next day we were shocked to find two out of four preserves on our table half eaten, poor in normal times, apalling today. My wife asked for firm poached eggs, they were runny. This may seem minor but the hotel professes to be fine dining! In the evening we went to the bar for some drinks and asked if there were any nuts etc to accompany them, not an unusual request in a 'high class' hotel, we were offered crisp packets which we had to pay for.

All in all this hotel markets itself as one thing and the details show it to be something else.

Not having stayed at the Mullion Cove for a number of years we decided to go again for the views and walking. Both are wonderful. The property is dated but in good nick. Our room was large and window very large allowing a great view. But we found that the staff largely gave the impression of being “comfortable” rather than out to impress. We were given an awful table in the restaurant with no view at all. The room was not fully serviced automatically “ for COVID reasons” but still we were charged as if it was being serviced. Similarly we were told that a number of Spa services were unavailable. The food was good but don’t work up too much of an appetite, as you may be left slightly on the hungry side.

This must be one of the best located hotels in the UK for views. Situated on a bluff overlooking the quaint Mullion harbour with the craggy Cornish coastline and cold Atlantic filling the vista to the horizon.
Excellent walking all around on the Cornish coastal paths.
There's something about the hotel that is faintly old-fashioned, which is a positive point, not a negative one. There's an element of the Edwardian in the decor, staff behaviour, service and dining arrangements which is all very pleasant.
Our room was one of only a couple that have a balcony, which would have been lovely had the weather not been Force 9 for most of our stay. I can imagine that it would be heaven on a warm day.
My only negative view is that the restaurant, whilst good, wasn't as good as I might have expected from a hotel that otherwise prides itself on getting things right. There were one or two niggles about the actual quality of the cooking that shouldn't have been there in a hotel this good, and that charges these prices.
The staff all try very hard to please and nothing is too much trouble.
Housekeeping is very efficient.
The shower in our room was outstandingly powerful and hot.
The spa, although small, was very pleasant and it was great to see that the facilities were still open and safely controlled despite the difficulties posed by the pandemic.

Hello We are delighted to hear you are hoping to visit the Mullion Cove Hotel. As already mentioned we have a lift to all floors and also a couple of rooms on the ground floor. Some rooms have walk-in shower, but they all have a step to get over, unfortunately we don't have any rooms with a roll-in shower. We have a number of guests who are wheelchair users, but our facilities do not suit everyone. if you are able to telephone us or let us have your number so we can call you, we could discuss your exact requirements, so you could judge if our rooms would be suitable for you. I hope this is of help.
