Travellers' Choice
We are the new owners of Wheal Tor Hotel as of 13th August 2021, we are delighted to welcome guests to stay in one of our ensuite rooms or to enjoy a glamping experience in one of our wooden pods or chalets! We have a bar and restaurant on site offering freshly cooked, local produce at reasonable prices. We have the most spectacular views and miles of lovely walks (four legged friends very welcome). In the winter months you can snuggle up in the bar next to a roaring fire, we sometimes have live music too! We are well located for exploring the moors and only 20 mins from the beach! Wheal Tor is truly a magical place with sheep and ponies roaming free, you can get back to nature and are always guaranteed a warm and friendly welcome.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A truly enjoyable stay on Sunday night. Having lived in the area and used the Wheel Tor as our ‘local’, it was good to return as guests. We were welcomed like long lost friends and enjoyed a delicious dinner, followed by a good night’s sleep and a wholesome breakfast. We will be back

Property's Favourite Review
We stayed here as part of a buy a gift voucher and we couldn't be happier with our choice. A perfect place for our first trip to Cornwall. The hotel is situated in the most beautiful setting. Our room was very comfortable and had everything we needed with gorgeous views into the woodland. The owners and all staff were fantastic. They were friendly and welcoming and made us feel like regular customers! Feel as if we have made friends! The food was amazing, we were lucky to sample the AMAZING Sunday roast as well as 2 evenings meals and breakfast. All were faultless and delicious. They are in the process of renovating and adding to this fantastic establishment and I cant wait to visit in the future to see what they can do! Thank you for a fantastic stay!

Finally got round to using a voucher from red letter days here and it really was perfect, really nice and friendly staff and perfect location for exploring and getting amazing views of good old Cornwall!! Room was perfect for what we wanted well lit with natural light from the window and door with a cosy setting, nice bed and ideal for what we wanted. Bathroom was clean and modern, shower had a few low pressure moments but other than that was ideal for the short two night stay. The food was perfect, full English on both mornings was perfect to start the day, nice quality ingredients used too. We had a three course meal one night that again was absolutely spot on, really good choice of menu options so you have plenty of choice with a good specials menu too, as for the desserts that are home made were outstanding too, the staff were even kind enough to wrap our brownie and sticky toffee pudding up to take back to our room to relax with. Honestly can’t fault anything and would 100% go back again 👌

This pub and its food is the jewel in the crown that is Cornwall. The presentation, quality and standard of food is sublime. The staff are friendly and attentive and the atmosphere is like relaxing in a cotton budded luxury of real Cornish home grown hospitality. A word to the wise, it is the highest pub in Cornwall in a UN heritage site, so yeah, some roads are rough. But you know what, if you can make it here you’ll have the best experience ever.

We were trying to use a "buy a gift venue" voucher having struggled for some time to find a nice hotel, in a good area with availability. I am so glad of those struggles as they lead us to Wheal Tor. We had a great Autumn stay at this lovely venue. The food was fabulous, the staff so friendly and helpful, the views were fantastic, and the location was great for walks or trips out in the car. Our room needed updating a little, but was lovely and clean as was the rest of the hotel which I believe has been steadily going through improvements since the new owners took over a little while back (and the improvements are there to see and enoy). Would happily stay here again or try out their glamping pods.
