Have just returned from an incredible New Year break at Talland Bay Hotel, an absolute jewel of a place. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left the staff couldn’t do enough to make us welcome and were extremely helpful throughout. This Welcome was extended to our dogs too, greeted with a treat, and in our room were two baskets each containing dog towel, dog blanket, bowls, and treats…! Food was amazing, staff so polite and attentive. New Year’s Eve buffet was extensive, all you could hope for. Entertainment was first class and overseen by general manager, Jack, who did a superb job. Fireworks were fantastic and whole atmosphere was relaxed. Quirky nature ofhotel was delightful and Xmas decorations were stunning. Cannot wait to return!

What a fabulous hotel, the rooms are as lovely as the rest of the building and the staff are absolutely lovely. Nothing is too much trouble. We had everything we needed and more, the hotel is really quirky, the best place to stay.

Our family were staying at the hotel and invited us for a meal in the restaurant. We live locally and have only visited the bar and terrace restaurant previously and both times found it faultless. Firstly, the Christmas decorations inside and particularly outside are absolutely beautiful. As always, everyone that works at talland bay hotel are very professional, polite and friendly and make you feel very welcome. We all enjoyed our food and wine. So yet again, faultless in every aspect.

My partner had booked a night’s stay for a surprise belated 70th birthday treat for me. Despite a lot of googling I had no idea where we were going! I was absolutely delighted to arrive at this beautiful quirky hotel. Our room was beautiful, spacious and spotless, with a sea view. The staff were amazing and couldn’t do enough for you. The evening meal was superb, absolutely delicious and the service was excellent. Our stay was faultless! Thank you! It’s brilliant that dogs are made very welcome, we have a very boisterous cocker spaniel so decided to leave her with a friend. I don’t think the furry bed throw would have survived!

We booked a dog friendly Easy Sunday stayover at the hotel and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our stay. Our room was one of the Garden Cottages and it was spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated and furnished and lacked for nothing. The bed was very comfortable. Our greyhound Shadow was well catered for with his welcome pack and we felt this is a place that is truly dog friendly rather than just making a nod to tolerance for our canine friends. The only difference was that we had to take our meals in the conservatory instead of the main restaurant. Like most dog owners, we totally accept that dogs are not for everyone and we felt comfortable in the conservatory, in any case. Tip: there is a hard floor, so if you have a greyhound type bag of bones and elbows, take his/her blanket to lie on (although if you forget, the hotel will supply one for you). I must admit I have never been asked the question before “Would you like chef to prepare a sausage for Shadow?!” and he loved it too! When we arrived there was a note in our room apologising for staffing issues that meant the hotel wasn’t running as efficiently as usual. I have to say that we were not aware of this at all. Special thanks to Matt who was so helpful from the time of booking and during our short stay. Everyone was pleasant, friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. The food was delicious, from the smoked salmon starter through the roast beef to dessert. Breakfast was also excellent with plenty of choice to suit all appetites. The grounds are delightful and the whole place is quirky with unexpected ornaments and furnishings; the Christmas decorations were also novel and unusual. The only issue I have is the very high prices for drinks, which I felt were over the top even for our luxurious surroundings. Other than that, everything was perfect and we will definitely return in warmer weather when we can enjoy the lovely gardens to the full. Well done to everyone at Talland Bay for your excellent and caring customer service which shows in all areas.
