From the moment of our welcome we felt right at home. Paul and Bernice are excellent hosts. Superior room was spacious, beautifully appointed, fresh fruit and bottled water daily replenished.. Every little detail thought of right down to a spare razor alongside the toiletries. Spotlessly clean throughout.
Food excellent, delicious evening meals with a great choice of vegetables.
Gardens are lovely and Aviary Court is an excellent base for touring this part of Cornwall. Roger and Patricia. North Somerset

On our arrival Aviary Court looked delightful set in beautifully maintained and spacious grounds with easy and ample parking. Having postponed from 2020 we were slightly apprehensive about how different things might be due to Covid regulations. We need not have worried as from the moment we were greeted at the door by Paul we were made to feel extremely welcome and confident that he had everything in place for a safe and enjoyable stay. Room 5 was very quiet, spacious, clean and comfortable although the bathroom was smaller than we anticipated for a Superior room. Four items of fresh fruit each day was a welcome touch. We very much enjoyed the excellent breakfasts and dinners cooked by Bernice, in particular the interesting variety of vegetables and amazing deserts. The location is perfect for exploring this section of Cornwall and some lovely walks from the doorstep are an added bonus. Highly recommended and we hope to return soon.

We got a last minute booking , having cancelled Crete. What a delight. Great location, wonderful evening meals and the owners were very attentive. Nothing too much trouble. Good parking and nice grounds to the hotel. Sundays to arrive and depart made the journey very good as the traffic all seemed to be going in the opposite direction. Very peaceful location with plenty of local walks and no where in Cornwall to far away to drive. A small hotel with only 6 rooms and no children, so social distancing not a problem.

Just returned from our third visit. As always we received a very warm welcome from Paul. There are just six well appointed rooms, a bar lounge, a sun lounge and a dining room. The whole hotel is immaculate and sits in well tended grounds. The highlight of this hotel is the delicious food prepared by Bernice. A variety of dishes are available each day and there is a good selection of vegetables. The desserts are wonderful.
Aviary Court is in a good location for exploring the north coast and most areas of Cornwall are no more than 30 mins drive. Excellent value and one of the best places we have stayed.

The Aviary Court has extremely high standards all round. Immaculate grounds, spotlessly clean rooms and fantastic fine dining with silver service. It's family run and Paul and Bernice could not be better host and hostess. It's a throwback to an age before buffet style help yourself catering. If you appreciate really good food that varies every night and is brought to your table you will not be disappointed. Sadly, places like this are hard to find in my experience, so this one should be savored.

Brilliant service service from the moment we arrived greeted with a warm welcome by Paul.
Food was of the highest level impossible to find fault. The dinning room ambience was just so relaxing and enjoyable plenty of repartee with the other guests who I am sure enjoyed their stay as much as we did. Plans to return next September 2024 .

Breakfast and dinner included,in our weeks stay. It is honestlly the best food I can remember having for a weeks holiday. Excellent in all respects, quality, variation and taste. What more can you ask! Standard room ,more than adequate for size and comfort.Excellent welcoming and chatty hosts.Dont miss out if you wish to stay in the area.

This small family run hotel is an absolute gem. If you like good home cooking, a peaceful nights sleep and lovely company (other guests) then this hotel is for you.
Paul and Bernice are such lovely people that they are not simply hoteliers but really lovely friends.
And, it is superbly located for the more genuine and rugged parts of Cornwall.
Best of all.....great value for money!!!
See you next year.

Looks fantastic in the photo's, and their website boasts of recent refurbishment...this may be true but the refurbishment wasn't done where it is needed, ie carpet, curtains, beds.
The bed was a double - who has double beds in this day and age? I am 6'1'' and the small bed gave me backache, bed wasn't comfortable either, and the bedding was a sheet, a fleece type thing and then a duvet - well it wasn't really a duvet, more a thick rug.
Given Room 4, orange walls with blue curtains and bedding, truly awful combination in poor taste.
You have to leave your key behind on a hook together with the other 5 keys when you go out - so anyone can take your key and gain access to your room.
The worst thing about the hotel, aside from the small bed was the smell. As soon as you walk in it smells extremely musty and stagnant. This smell is everywhere. I can only compare the smell to my Nan's house after it hadn't been lived in for 2 years or an old boarding school.
This smell continues to the bedroom and even the bedding. One waft of the covers was enough to make me feel sick. You can't even open the windows above your head as they are sheet fire glass and cannot be opened. Had to use the windows the other side of the room.
Complained the following morning and was offered a different room with a slightly larger bed, declined this and was asked to pay for the second night! Needless to say we didn't even stay for breakfast.
Positives: bathroom was extremely clean, the grounds are well maintained and they have a tennis court, location.
Booked two nights, stayed one after a terrible nights sleep and went to the Carnon Downs Premier Inn - at £1.00 more expensive. Please, use the Premier Inn, a far better nights sleep, in a quiet area, a kingsize bed and no weird smell permeating everything.
