When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Nice beds, clean linen, clean rooms. The grounds around hotel are green and peaceful. Rooms are fine, although hallways are dim and dated. Full English breakfast served. The waitstaff at breakfast were very friendly. This place is located so one can easily drive to Cornwall coast and yet escape back in evening to less crowded area. You need a car or taxi as not really walkable. Redruth and Camborne are interesting towns to visit.

Stayed here just for the night to attend a family members funeral the next day and it was decent enough for a night's stay, room is pretty dated in my opinion, bathroom needs replacing as the wet room thing doesn't work for myself and grouting needs sorting also, the wood look in the room itself looks old and needs replacing. The restaurant on site though is lovely and modern looking and the food was great, the breakfast also that is included wa lovely also except the sausages wasn't to my liking

We had a family room for one night on our way to a family wedding. Booking experience was very good - a helpful man on the phone and a straight forward booking system was much appreciated. On arrival location of the hotel was oerfevt and well sign posted, lots of parking. Two members of staff on reception were lovely and welcoming, very friendly and efficient in checking us in promptly (we were quite early but luckily room was ready!) The family room is very large, clean and comfortable. The gardens outside are lovely. The hotel was nice and quiet (we slept 6.30 till 6 30 after a long journey!) Breakfast was great and we felt great value considering the reasonable price of the rooms here in the summer holidays! All in all, we would stay here again for sure. As stated in another review, the WiFi is not good at all and yes aspects of the decor would appreciate an update. But we are here to enjoy Cornwall and a clean comfortable bed is our priority. And at the reasonable rates its hard to complain at all.

First impressions of the reception are of a 1960s school building. Entrance to the bedrooms is along corridors segmented by old style wire glazed fire doors, many of which are held open during the morning by wedges or fire extinguishers removed from wall brackets, despite each door having a label affixed stating 'Fire Door - Keep closed'. In the bedroom, cups and milk were missing from the tea/coffee making facilities on our arrival at 5.30pm. A request of the receptionist remedied the omission, but only fortunate timing allowed the remedy as the reception closes at 6pm and no-one is available again for routine enquiries until 8am the following day. Free wi-fi was included in the price, but we had no wi-fi connection at any time during our stay, anywhere in the hotel (including feet away from one of the routers in a corridor), and no-one seemed to care, despite us emphasising that wi-fi was important to us. Several other guests suffered similar frustrations. The rooms are furnished along the lines of bad student digs. Wall decoration is a depressing grey and dark mustard, accompanied by 'DIY' constructed headboard, desk top and open fronted wardrobe space, in dark varnished pine that has long since seen better days. Silicon around the window was mouldy from years of condensation and the window handle was chipped, and also mouldy. The carpet was stained from what appeared to be dropped tea bags. A fire escape plan and 'no smoking' sign were cellotaped to the door. The room felt and smelled damp throughout our stay. The TV would only show 10 channels, none of which were the one we wanted. Returning to the room on day 2, after 6pm and therefore after the reception staff had left, the room servicing had failed to replenish the toilet roll (only half a roll having been provided on our arrival). We were left with no choice but to go toilet roll hunting and reel off sufficient tissue from the 'thief proof' canister in the gents' public toilet. The bathroom was the biggest disappointment. The shower area was constructed as a wet room but the tiling and lack of separation at floor level meant that every shower flooded the floor as far as (and including) the toilet space. The vertical separator, which left a gap of 6" or so off the floor, looked as if it had been taken from an old camp site shower block. The supporting divider at floor level was full of years of accumulated grime. There were mould streaks throughout the bathroom, cracked wall tiling, dead flies in the ceiling light diffuser and years of accumulated grime in the louvres of the ceiling extractor vent. The bathroom had no heated towel rail, making it impossible to even attempt to dry the soaked floor mat and towels and dry replacements were not provided during the room servicing. The 'revolving' sink plug kept getting stuck in the closed position, having to be levered out by hammering one side with a toothbrush and an aerosol can, provided from our own toiletries kits. Breakfast was provided in the 'Garden Room'. The Garden Room is set up for events, principally wedding receptions it would appear. Most of the trestle style tables are large and round, intended to seat perhaps eight people. The background radio is at a level that is less than subtle. Breakfast was adequate, but not exceptional. Half pint, branded beer glasses were provided for fruit juice and there was no fruit, or pastries. Basic cereals and toast are available and a cooked breakfast is optional, but day 2 of our stay delivered scrambled eggs on two slices of toast, with mushrooms, when scrambled eggs on one slice of toast, with nothing in addition was ordered, and the hot milk requested, to accompany the filter coffee, never turned up at all. We left at 9.30am, abandoning our paid third night's stay, and dropping the key at an unmanned reception. This hotel is 'shoddy' in every way and requires major investment to bring it up to any kind of modern standard.

I was writing a review for another experience i recently had at another local restaurant to me in Cornwall, when after completing review it prompted me to write another and i immediately thought of Tricky’s. I have eaten at their restaurant on many occasions, attended their live music evenings plus regularly go to their entertaining quizzes and i always write a review but I had the pleasure of attending a friends wedding function at the other venue part of the establishment and thought I’ll go to that review option to write about my experience. I have met the managers there and my friends whose wedding it was last year said they were really professional and accommodating. The function room is brilliant, it has its own bar a dance floor and looked amazing for my friends wedding. It has doors that opens on to a beautiful grassed area, where you can spread out onto and children can have a great time playing.. The hotel part is very good value for money, the rooms are clean and I believe there are plans afoot for them to be refurbished in the future but are very comfortable. The mangers there are well aware of a particular person who leaves anonymous bad reviews and I believe that he has been reported for his continuous harassment. So please disregard reviews especially the ones where he uses profanities and personal insults. TBH I’m really disappointed in Tripadvisor for allowing this type of review especially when the person in question has never stayed or eaten at the establishment.

Great for families, staff are really friendly and rooms are nice and clean. Hotel is all on one level and there is lots of free parking right outside the hotel. Really good location, as there are lots of lovely beaches nearby and some really nice walks too. A lovely breakfast, beautiful gardens. Great pub on site, with excellent food and choices for everyone. Quiz every Monday fortnight and band nights every Friday eve. Tasty roast on a Sunday. Make sure you book well in advance in the restaurant as it fills up so quickly as it’s a clearly one of the more popular venues in the area! You don’t get a table just because staying in the hotel, which is fair enough as there are also other nice places to eat in the area, so they can’t hold tables for every guest staying. Would highly recommend.

found Trickys last year - and very impressed with service, faciilites and great breakfasts - Staff were most helpful - decided to go again in february - had a really enjoyable stay - lovely rooms, car parking was unbeatable and their breakfasts were excellent - good selection from full English to smaller breakfasts for those who are on a diet - can thoroughly recommend (shouldn't say this but .... its best to book on line - get a really good deal

Stay well clear. They don't know the meaning of the word customer service. Booked a lunch for 50 people with them for Sunday 12th March, just been cancelled with no notice just because I expect basics standards and they can't deliver it. What an absolute joke. 4 weeks to find another venue for all my guest now.
