Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The staff were so friendly and helpful. The decor was outstanding, never seen so many beautiful unusual features in a hotel before, would definitely stay again. The breakfast staff welcomed you in and paid so much attention to you and even showed us around the adjoining function rooms for a sneaky peek. Opulent is a word for the room with red glass chandeliers

A lovely hotel. We spent 3 nights there and don't have a bad thing to say about it. The staff are very friendly and helpful, from Jonathan the porter to Christina (sp?) the restaurant manager, they went out of their way to make our stay special. On arrival, we were upgraded to a superior room. The bed was very comfortable, the room was spacious and quiet. Food was very good, from the breakfasts to the evening meal. We will definitely stay again.

I stayed in this hotel for the past 6 weeks and I couldn't believe my luck!. On arrival I was given by Kelly a complimentary upgrade on my room. The room was nice and spacious, and very comfortable, Thanks 😊 The hotel has also a lovely spa, where you get to meet guests and locals, great for relaxing after a busy day at work and great for social life. The restaurant is very pleasant and comfortable and the food is well presented, high quality dishes, sunday roast is a must have!. Also the staff are so friendly, service with a smile, very professional and helpful. The bar area serves amazing cocktails and it feels so cosy sitting around it while sipping on a well deserved alcoholic drink. I can't think of any fault at all! Definitely the best hotel in Cornwall. Thanks to all the staff for all your 5 star service, I will definitely be coming back. Akemy

Wonderful welcome and service. This is a luxurious family run hotel with attention to detail and quality. Special mention to John, the doorman, who was extremely helpful. We also enjoyed a lovely evening swim and a relaxing lounge by the pool. I can’t wait to stay again!

My husband and i have been coming to stay here for around 12 years and it never fails to satisfy. We love the place so much we got married here.Only living a 25 minute drive away its the perfect place to unwind. This visit was a treat for my husbands birthday and i emailed the hotel to ask for a room with a fridge. We were so lucky to be upgraded to the honeymoon suite and received a glass of fizz each. We ate in the restaurant which was lovely also had a gin board to share. Once again Penventon,Thank you for a wonderful stay and hope to see you again soon.

Loved the Georgian glamour of this hotel, which is impressive the moment you step through the front door. Friendly and professional check in - even though we were early - and taken to our room by John, who even got our bag out of our car. Stayed in room 132, a classic double, which was beautiful with every amenity you could think of. I had asked for a walk in shower and the spacious en-suite had a separate bath as well. I am not usually a fan of rain head showers as I find them more of a drizzle rather than rain, but this shower was very powerful plus had an additional hand held shower. Quality toiletries and lovely biscuits to have with a very nice cup of coffee in the room. We were here for one night on a ‘January Sparkle Stay and Dine’ so had an included 2 course dinner plus breakfast. Food was excellent and beautifully presented in the opulent dining room. Spa facilities very good, with the staff very attentive as my husband uses a walking stick. We loved our one night stay so much that we have booked for the ‘Sweet February’ deal. Will definitely recommend to all our friends.
