Booked a last minute break to Cornwall. The Beacon Country House is an absolute gem of a find. The staff and hosts were welcoming, friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We were accomodated in the family room downstairs. It was lovely and clean with ample space to move around the room. We had lovely views of the garden and surrounding countryside. My son especially loved the replenishment of cookies each day in our room! A kettle and a cafetiere is provided along with instant and filter coffee, milk and teabags...very nice to have such choice. The bedding was luxurious and the beds super comfy with lovely large bath towels that wrap around you, helpful if your son is almost 6ft! We were given the choice of breakfast in bed or the dining room. We chose the dining room which didn't disappoint. It was clean and modern with large windows throughout capturing the stunning views. The service was excellent, staff attentive and polite. Breakfast was tasty, hearty and plentiful. The positioning of the hotel is beautiful with panoramic views of the stunning countryside. Located a short stroll to the village centre of St Agnes, with picturesque walks on the doorstep. Covid-19 measures... we were advised of the measures put in place on check-in, hand sanitiser as you walk into the building, again when you enter the dining room, a choice of cleaning each day or not at all, screens in place between the dining tables, no longer a buffet breakfast but table service, staff to be wearing masks during service, staggered meal times, less tables used in dining room, contactless check-out, only allowed 2 people in reception at any one time, to be mindful of others on entering and exiting premises. All fantastic measures to make you feel safe and comfortable in our current climate, but not so much as to be intrusive. We would definitely look to book here again on our next visit to Cornwall.

We have just enjoyed a lovely week at this hotel as a family group of 10. We booked 5 bedrooms and were made to feel extremely welcome. We had a fantastic breakfast each morning. A great selection much of which is locally sourced. We also ate in their restaurant four evenings. A short but daily changing menu ensured everything was fresh and something to suit every taste. Pleasant lounge area to relax after (or before!) dinner and a decent bar selection. The bedrooms were well furnished with extremely comfortable beds; tea/coffee making facilities and toiletries provided. What makes this lovely hotel extra special however are the owners Nigel & Jayne. They were friendly, welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. They even offered to hang and dry our wetsuits overnight. Great hotel run by a lovely family. Highly recommend.

We stayed for nights from Sunday 6th - Tuesday 8th September. We were made to feel very welcome by Nigel, Jayne and team. Great location situated a few minutes drive from St Agnes and the local beach Chapelforth was a 15-20 min walk to.
Excellent food and the 3 course dinner menu is very good value and was very tasty after a busy day exploring the local area. Would highly recommend.

Just got back from another great week at the Beacon Country House Hotel. If you want comfortable beds in spotlessly clean rooms followed by great breakfasts and evening meals in a stunning location you can not do better than the Beacon. All of the staff are most helpful, friendly and accommodating and help to make your stay memorable. Every evening we enjoyed an excellent meal in the restaurant, chatting with other guests, if you choose to, over coffee afterwards in the lounge. Thanks again to Nigel, Jayne, Alice, Sam, Gary and Marie for your part in making our holiday so good.

My husband and I decided to take a quick and last minute break to Cornwall. Immediately after booking we received a call from Nigel to discuss our reservation and how the new process in light of COVID-19 will work. I immediately felt reassured by the measures they have in place. We didn't arrive until late but were greeted by a warm and friendly host. We were shown to our room (deluxe twin on first floor) the room was wonderful. I work in tourism and have travelled to many locations across the globe, staying in many hotels most being luxury resorts and the attention to detail at the Beacon Country House was second to none.

Beds were super comfy wonderful mattress and very plush linen and quilt. This made for the perfect nights sleep before exploring the local area. The hosts provided the most incredible breakfast delivered to the room (at no extra cost) and in light of the situation (you also had the option to dine in too)

The assistance and willingness to help was most endearing and I will most certainly be back very soon. I have recommended to industry colleagues and can't remember the last time I was so impressed by a small hotel.

Thank you for the best few days.

Arrived to a friendly welcome nothing was too much trouble. Very accommodating but sadly we were disappointed with the size of the room as we had our teenager son sharing our room and two dogs. Our daughter was sharing her room with her boyfriend and there room was also small but their bathroom was bigger than our family suit. The bathroom was very small in ours and the shower was weak and not very hot. The bed was comfortable and although the first couple of nights we could hear some person above us snoring his head off. It was much better when they left as it was so quiet.
The rooms were cleaned daily but we really disliked filling in the menu for the next morning’s breakfast. The breakfast menu was limited and we became bored with it, there was no continental option like pastries.
The actual location was good and a ten minute was into the village. At the end of the day it was pricey but we still enjoyed ourselves so thank you 😊

We all really enjoyed our relaxing stay here. Such a friendly and welcoming team, lead by Jayne and Nigel and Gary the hotel manager, nothing was too much trouble & the extras for guests (and dogs) a nice touch. This small family run hotel is very nicely decorated, good sized rooms and everywhere was spotless with a lovely garden & outside seating areas. It's in a great location and the local walks, beaches and local activities on offer ticked all our boxes.
There was a good selection on the breakfast and evening menus, everything was delicious and hot. We had 1 evening meal in the hotel and we all chose something different. And we had a cream tea one afternoon.
So a big thank you to you all at Beacon Country House Hotel

Overall 10/10 *****
Would we come again? Yes!

As mentioned in another review: in order to have super fresh ingredients, no long waiting times and to keep food waste to a minimum (which we think is great), guests are requested to pre-select their cooked breakfast choices on a card by 10pm the night before and if they are going to eat in the restaurant (Tues-Sat) to preferably choose after breakfast but latest by 2pm the same day.
Eating a fantastic breakfast then having to think about an evening meal might be difficult for some but we don't mind a tiny bit of forward planning so taking a look at the evening menu the night before worked for us and took the pressure out of looking for a different restaurant. Thumbs up from us.

Second time coming here and it just gets better and better. Nigel greeted us again as we arrived and immediately made us feel at home. As soon as you walk in you can tell the hotel is really well looked after. My wife’s first comment was ‘it always smells so fresh and clean here’, and she’s right, it does. The room we booked was a premium room and well worth it. It was a good size with an absolutely huge bed, and again was very clean and well looked after. We also had fantastic views of the gardens and countryside from our room too.
Everyone that works at this hotel are so friendly, approachable and eager to help. Gary took time out to show us a map of a coastal walk and how to get there, and drew directions on the map of the best car parks to access. We also had more than a few laughs with Gary, Nigel, Jane, Sam and the rest of the team.
Usually when we stay at a hotel the last night and final morning are kind of a relief thinking can’t wait to get back home into my own bed’. Not here. In fact we asked if they had any availability for us to stay an extra night we loved it so much.
The food is fantastic too. Daily changing menu, local produce, cooked just the way you like it. (Especially my breakfast which I asked the chef to burn the hell out of my bacon and sausage because, well I’m a Yorkshire lad and we’re a bit strange).
The beach is literally a 2 minute drive or 15 minute walk away. The beach you see at high tide is a tiny pebble beach but when the tide starts to go out, well it is absolutely amazing! Miles of sand and caves to discover.
The only complaint I have is that it will be another 12 months until we can return to this little slice of heaven!

I stayed here for five nights last week, with my dog. The hotel is amazing. The staff could not be more helpful and nothing is too much trouble. Covid regulations are strictly but subtly followed.
The room was so nice and light and airy and the bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in. The location is wonderful with views for miles and miles, with a footpath immediately from the hotel grounds to St Agnes Head and the North Cornwall Coast Path.
I'd never taken my dog for a stay in a hotel before and was a bit nervous about it but it was perfect, with a large grassed area where he could run around and play. All the staff were very dog-friendly.
Breakfast was amazing. I've stayed in top hotels all over the world and the cooked breakfast was as good as I've had anywhere. Piping hot, great bacon and sausages and the service was really fast and efficient.
I could not recommend this hotel highly enough. If I wanted to stay in this area I wouldn't consider anywhere else.

Always a very friendly, family run hotel, the Beacon has been updated and improved even further under Nigel and Jayne’s management. Our room was spotless as usual with fine views of the surrounding countryside and the coastline beyond. The restaurant in particular has had a successful makeover and featured an extended menu. Dinner was excellent.

Customer service and attention to detail was faultless. For example, we had an evening function some miles away and were unable to prebook a return taxi to the hotel. Nigel came to the rescue, personally collecting us from the venue. This went way beyond our expectations.

A path behind the hotel leads directly to St Agnes Beacon, with its panoramic views of this beautiful part of Cornwall.

All in all a fine place to stay, in a very quiet location, close to St Agnes and the lovely beaches at Chapel Porth and Porthtowan.
Highly recommended.

Hello, Thank you so much for your enquiry. We have two ground floor rooms with step in showers but I am afraid we do not have a wet rooms in any of our rooms. Due to the location of the hotel which is on the slopes of the Beacon our car park is very steep but if we could help on arrival that would be no problem at all. Also we could provide any further assistance. Please do not hesitate to contact us for further information. Kind regards, Jo
