We have just come back from our first visit to Cornwall and were lucky enough to spend a few days around New Years Eve at the Driftwood Spars. Stunning location, very friendly and attentive staff, possibly the best roast we have ever eaten plus cold beers, roaring fires and a beautiful room overlooking the sea! We loved it from start to finish and loved the fact we could leave the car in the car park and enjoy long cliff top walks from the doorstep. We highly recommend this traditional Cornish pub. Thank you to all at the Driftwood Spar for starting the New Year so well!!!

We had the pleasure of staying here one night last week as we were travelling around Cornwall. Excellent friendly helpful staff, lovely food , they have opened up the car park as a beer garden due to covid and it works well, there is a one way system around the pub etc. Best breakfast with lots of choice and due to covid you order the night before and choose your time . There is an app to order food and drinks but the staff will take your order too if you don’t want to use the app.If people moan about details like this then they should just stay at home as I’m not sure what they expect? The rooms are so lovely and clean and really quaint and nice comfy beds. The brownies are a nice touch . The beach is just at the bottom of the road and you can walk to Perranporth beach along the cliff tops which is a lovely walk . You have a parking spot in the car park across the road .
We will definitely return and would recommend Driftwood Spars to anyone .

We spent two days in this cosy, friendly pub/ B & B nestled in Trevaunance Cove, St Agnes.
Every single member of staff made us feel welcome. The whole atmosphere was delightfully relaxed and yet at the same time highly efficient.
Our cosy, well-appointed room looked out over the Cove and at night we were lulled to sleep by the sound of the waves.
Everywhere was spick and span.
We had drinks in the ‘Drifty’ (yummy home-brewed beer) whilst enjoying the chatter of others in the bar.
We ate our suppers in the Top Bar which is a quiet part of the pub. Our meals were beautifully prepared and utterly delicious. Service was superb.
Breakfasts (so tasty! ) were served in the Bistro which is light and airy with great views down onto the cove.
It’s a great place to stay. Walks from the pub in both directions along the coastal path will take you up onto the adjacent headlands for some stunning views.
The surfing in the cove looked fun too!

We like this combination of accommodation and pub/restaurant. We chose Driftwood Spars for location and much enjoyed the proximity to beach and coastal walks, the room, seaview, pub, dinner and breakfast. The staff and service across the whole stay was top class.

We had a long coastal walk as a family and by chance came across the Driftwood Spars. We went in for a late lunch and had a fantastic meal, served by very friendly, helpful and pleasant staff. Great tea and coffee, wonderful fish and chips - thin, crispy batter, amazing fish and the most tasty homemade tartare sauce and minted mushy peas. My daughter had sausages and mash, again fantastic. Good Covid procedures in place too and spotlessly clean. Highly recommend!

This is our 2nd time here and will be booking again for next year.
We stay in annex opposite and room is amazing with beautiful little garden and stream.
Staff here are so lovely and welcoming even when extremely busy they go out thier way to help you and make you feel comfortable.
The bar/restaurant has such a good feel to it.
Breakfast choice is plentiful and always tastes good.
Whilst writing this we are waiting on Sunday roast which smells and looks incredible.
We have not had a bad meal here at all.
The area alone is gorgeous. Best of all there is no phone signal to be bothered by anyone. WiFi is easy to connect to and works in annexe rooms well too.
As said this is our happy place and always will be.

It was such a disappointing place. Uncomfortable tiny room that had seen better days . Bizzare breakfast that you had to order the night before and then arrived at your table wrapped in tin foil obviously cooked in advance . Indifferent staff and terrible food . Pub messy dirty and tired .
Just nothing to recommend a stay here . We were with friends and family so several rooms had been booked and we all felt the same .

The only thing the Driftwood couldn’t spoil is the position and they can’t take any credit for that .

I just can’t recommend it to any one and I wouldn’t stay there again unless things were to dramatically change .

What a joke. If you use the term Festival you would think there would be some effort put in. Perhaps a bbq selling sausages or local food cart selling sausage dishes, some music playing, various ales on offer. NO none of this. Absolutely nothing accept 2 additional overly priced sausage dishes added to the usual menu, sausage ciabatta £15. Then a small room with a FEW ales on offer.
This could have been made amazing if SOME effort was put in. You have a lovely outdoor seating area, you could have had food, ale and music.
NOT worth the trip, most people obviously knew this in advance, as there was no one there. Just dont waste peoples time and petrol by advertising it as a sausage and ale festival and then not bother!!

I had a wonderful stay at Driftwood Spars and would recommend for solo travellers.
I had a great welcome with choc brownies and all.
All staff were helpful and friendly.
Food is delicious, I especially enjoyed the Sunday Roast and live music for St Piran's weekend festival.
This was a much needed retreat following the loss of a family member and really helped.
Parking is nearby and I was able to explore the coastal walking and completely unwind. Thank you !!

Are dogs allowed inside the pub?
Answer from DAVID B
Alton, United Kingdom2 contributions4 helpful votes
Yes, Dogs are allowed on a lead in the main bar down - ground floor and in the Top Bar - first floor. You can also get Breakfast served in the Top bar with your dog. However, dogs are not allowed in the Bistro / Resturant, which is where Breakfast is served for all guests. Hope this helps. David.
