Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Cornwall always sounds so idyllic, the truthis far from this reality! The main road A30 is still under construction even though it was meant to be open in Dec 2023. The beaches are far from tranquil with Perranporth being one of the worst! Where do all the Rubbish Fag buts Wee and other disgusting human waste end up- in the sand. It costs a small fortune to use any of the indoor experiences even the Ice cream is not like it was!!!

This is a lovely Hotel. The rooms are very spacious, on a par to other hotels, much bigger rooms. Modern furniture and lovely views. All the rooms in the Hotel have a view. The Hotel itself is beautifully decorated. The bar area has comfortable seating and a log fire in the winter. There is lots of space in general throughout this Hotel. Breakfast has healthy options, freshly cooked breakfast. The spa is one of my favourite spa's, with huge windows overlooking beautiful garden views outside, it feels private and tranquil. We have also stayed in the Lodges in this hotel, again very spacious, modern and spotlessly clean, the lodges have everything you need. The staff are friendly and exceed Customer Services. The Hotel is a very short drive ( its also walkable) to some beautiful beaches.

Lovely place. The room was big, with a lovely lig window and balcony. The bed comfortable, ac worked well, and a selection of normal tea and fruit tea ,with nice biscuits 😊. The gym, pool, sauna and steam were wonderful. We were lucky as it was so quiet and we had the pool to ourselves. The changing rooms were also wonderful (although I kept getting lost in them) We had a lovely evening meal too. The bad bit; breakfast. We had to schedule our time for breakfast but due to lack of staff, orders were not taken, the continental breakfast was not replenished and it took 3/4 hour to get the hot breakfast to our table. Staff generally seemed thin on the ground but were coping . However,Management need to invest in their staff , providing proper training, giving them the tools to make sure this wonderful hotel/spa maintains a good reputation. We did love it and will return but please invest in the staff.

Beautiful hotel, great room, with a lovely balcony (weather didn’t allow for sitting out) Used the spa, clean and tidy excellent facilities with lockers and towels provided and hairdryer and straighteners in the ladies changing rooms. Pool was busy but didn’t feel like it, with two lanes off areas for adult swimming. Restaurant for evening meal and breakfast was fabulous. Enjoyed every mouthful of our evening meal of fish and chips, burger, cheese board and treacle sponge. Breakfast was organised and well prepared, great poached eggs. Service for both was brilliant with an attentive and smiley team. We can’t wait to go back again!!

We had a lovely stay over Easter Weekend. The room was lovely and very spacious. We ate in the bar both nights, the food was nice but expected a higher standard. We didn't get offered cutlery by the staff member that delivered our food in the second night and he had very little people skills. Some of the waiters seemed like they didn't know what they were doing. However, the majority of the bar staff were brilliant. The breakfast was mediocre, the continental buffet was nice but didn't offer as much as we would have expected, we both had the cornish full breakfast which was nice, but personally the bacon could've been cooked a little better. But that might just be down to personal preference. The pool and spa was absolutely amazing. We spent most of our weekend swimming or in the sauna. The perfect way to relax. We would definitely come again and it was lovely to see that it is dog friendly

Great hotel with fantastic staff, the free use of the steam room, sauna and pool is a big plus, this hotel is dog friendly another big plus. This was our first time visiting ST Austell, I will return, if you do not mind driving a little to visit parts of north Cornwall definitely stay here at the Cornwall hotel & spa. Just a little way down road is Charlestown harbour and Mevagissey two lovely places to visit.

We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel. Room was clean and comfortable. Staff were very friendly and a great location. We are looking forward to booking our next break there. If I had to make one complaint it would be the cooked breakfast came out warm every morning, but it certainly didn't ruin my stay. Spa definitely worth a visit !

I booked here for Mother’s Day and had the most disappointing experience. Would definitely not go back or recommend. They advertised a special Mother’s Day lunch which I expected to be special. On arrival we were shown to a function room that looked more like a school canteen than a restaurant. There were no tablecloths or flowers on the table and the cutlery and glasses were cheap! The food was not bad but the main course was only warm and the gravy was like water. I tried to complain privately hoping I would be satisfied but had the response that it was my fault for not booking the restaurant when I booked. I responded to this saying I was not given a choice and just presumed we would be in the restaurant ( they could verify this by listening to my phone conversation which they say they record for training purposes) . Also they said that we should have complained at the time that the food was not hot. We should not have to complain it should be hot in the first place!! It was supposed to be a special day for my mother and my family.

very nice location the country side after a long journey. Arrived and greated by a nice lady on reception who quickly checked us in and booked us in for dinner. Room was overall very nice and clean, Small living area and a nicely sized bathroom. Bed was also very comfortable. Visted the gym while staying and it is decently set up with plenty of different bits of kit. Dinner in the resturant was okay. Ordered a margarita pizza which was a bit strange compared to what i have had before. Came with whole slices of tomato which seemed unusual and wasnt great for me as i dont like whole tomatos. Tasted okay but nothing special. slept very well. Breakfast was also very good. Overall, a perfect stay.

We’ve stayed just for one night using a gift voucher to have a little break away. The luxury room was lovely and spacious with a kingsize bed and quality bed lining, a very delicious 3 course dinner a night before with a friendly staff and attention to detail, however the breakfast was not to our expectation - it was served till 10:30, we came down cca at 09:40, there weren’t left any bread for toasting, nor soft fruit, e.g. prunes or dates run out, coffee was served not fresh, like second filtered, had to ask for glasses to get the juices for us, and when ordered eggs royale and porridge, it took a very long time to arrive, guests who came after us, had been served before us. I’ve been advised by a member of staff they do only one hot meal for breakfast and if I want an extra: porridge, it would be a £10 Agreeing to that, my husband’s eggs Benedict arrived cca in 20 mins, then within next 5 mins or so - a small bowl of dry porridge cooked on water ( in the menu it says Creamy Porridge with Rhodda’s cream ? ) I had to add a low fat yoghurt and honey to porridge, and an unpleasant waitress was watching me picking up yogurt from a round table with a few leftovers from breakfast bar, which was not topped up by the staff. Very unpleasant experience with a vey tasteless porridge costing a £10!
