This was our second visit to River Valley Holiday Park and once again we had a lovely holiday. We were on touring pitch number 10 which was spacious and had mature hedging on 2 sides. Close to power point, waste and drinking water points.
Check in is very easy, drive down a nice wide drive, stop by reception to grab a map and barrier key and you're off to your pitch. There is a small but well equipped playground, a great zipline and an indoor heated pool which is excellent for rainy days. Showers were plentiful, free and loads of hot water, even at 10pm. Washing up and Elsan point all in same building as loos and showers.
There is a games room with a pool table, air hockey etc.
The managers and staff are friendly and helpful without breathing down your neck and always on hand to give recommendations or help you work the washing machine in my case!
Grounds are well kept and as it's not a massive site, it's peaceful and whilst we have stayed, everyone respected each other and followed site rules such as all children in by 10pm.
There are good bus and train links so you don't have to drive every day and also good walks and connections to the national cycle network. Pentewan beach, The Lost Gardens of Heligan and Mevagissey are all accessible direct from the site on foot or bike if you are reasonably fit.
All in all a nice site with a mix of static caravans for rental and touring/tent pitches with EHU. Dog and family friendly but also quiet and peaceful. Enough to do for children if staying in for the day and enough things to do nearby without the car being a necessity.

Our first time in a static caravan. The site and accommodation was spotlessly clean and very well maintained. Pool area was maintained to a very high standard and heated to a comfortable temp. Check in and out was quick and efficient.
Location was good for exploring Cornwall and additionally close to shops and range of good places to eat.

We booked a caravan at River Valley Holiday Park with just a few days notice. It turned out to be significantly better value than other parks located a little more beachside. The static caravan was freshly cleaned and in superb condition, facilities excellent and the location is handy for the local beaches without being too close. The staff at River Valley are really friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. There are some superb walks from the site both along the river side (where we watched Herons fishing) along with lots of other flora and fauna. Being seniors, we really appreciated the tarmacked path alongside the St Austell River and in the other direction to Pentewan Beach. The same pathway, traffic free, is also just a 10 minute walk to the superb Trevithick Farm Shop and café. The date slice, accompanied by a delicious Americano, is to die for. Just a few yards from the café is The Kingswood, one of our favourite restaurants in the area, and as it's just a safe, 10 minute walk, there's no need to drive, so I was able to enjoy some really nice wine with our meal. The site also has other excellent facilities such as a pool and laundry facilities along with an area set aside for touring caravans and motorhomes. Wi-Fi was free. Will we go again? Definitely.

Our family (4 generations) have had our yearly long holiday in our touring caravan at River valley for around 30 years when Judith and John ran the site. So we have seen a lot of great changes since Alison and Paddy have now stepped into Alisons parents shoes. We absolutely love and cherish our holidays at this beautiful great located site. Its clean and usually quiet, although last year we had some very noisy neighbours that thankfully didn’t stay long! The pool is perfect as not so deep i cant touch the bottom which helps when i have some dear devil children. Showers are great, always plenty of hot water. I could go on and on about how wonderful this place is!
What does let it down is the people who visit, the general public dont seem to remember to have respect for others or clean up after themselves! The staff regularly clean all the facilities but no sooner have they done that someone leaves a mess behind be it in the showers, pool showers or toilets! The staff are not there to scrub the loo, mop the floors or pick the dirty dish scrapings out the plug holes after every use! It really is the general public that let it down! Anyway thanks for all the wonderful memories we share and will continue to make! Back in august 2024 🙌🏻
Keep up the fantastic work Alison and Paddy!!!

Superb quiet site. We stayed in a static caravan which was brand new and had all the amenities to make a stay really relaxing. The site is kept immaculate by the team, reception are most helpful, and the site is split into 2 areas, static and touring vans. There was no noise and convenient bus stop takes to Town or the beach (Don't forget your bus pass Had to leave as had a bad fall but will be back

We stayed at River Valley for 2 weeks. The first week was wonderful and the site is beautifully kept with a flat cycle path into Pentewan which we frequented. The games room and play park is great for the kids and mobile food vans visit 3 times a week. We had a lovely big pitch and the onsite indoor pool was lovely.
The second week was a let down not because of the park but because the clientele went downhill! Lots of chavvy swearing people. A massive loud group with no social filters arrived on bank holiday Friday and the obscene language was so base especially on a family site full of kids. The pool is not very big so it became too crowded. I loved this site but the second week and some of the people staying put me off!!!
The only criticism of the actual site itself is the washrooms... maintenance issues need attention. The taps stick and dont turn off and there are no hand drying facilities in the ladies - there are 2 hand dryers, one doesn't work and one works intermittently. No hand towels and so soaking floors all the time. Showers lovely and hot but two evenings the water pressure randomly dropped to a trickle. I reported the toilet door sticking (I had to give it a good kick to open it to get out) in the shower block. The bathrooms were kept clean however.
The area is lovely, Mevagissey and Charlestown are a must visit. The Polgooth Inn up the road has great food and service. The sandy beach at Pentewan is beautiful. St Austell nearby has lots of supermarkets and amenities.
We had a lovely holiday and the first week at this park was blissful.

We have been regular visitors to this site for 30 years and have always had a great holiday.
This is my second review based on this years holiday.
It usually is the perfect site to stay as a couple or with a young family or teens which have self and community respect which has always been the case when we have stayed previously.
It has always been quiet come 9/10pm and kept very clean not only by the staff but the guests that have standards and are respectful of property and others.
As usual the RV team are always welcoming and friendly however the guests that we encountered during our last stay are of another level. I do have confidence they will be addressed by the team and wont be welcome to return again.
The site would easily maintain its cleanliness if guests were not so disgusting and cleaned up after themselves when using the facilities.
The same said for the quietness, teenagers breaking into the compound… breaking the lock of the zip wire.. for what reason?? Disrespectful youths! If elder kids want the nightlife and social with parents who cant control them or have the same disrespect for people with young children River Valley is not the place to be with them.
Will look forwards to being back at our happy place next year hopefully with other like minded guests during our stay 🤞🏻
Perfect location for beaches, shopping, attractions, ideal base to visit the rest of southern Cornwall. Not far at all from the beautiful Mevy harbour for the best fish and chips 🙌🏻
Excellent facilities, toilets, showers, laundrette, washing up area, pool. Large and standard hard standing level pitches. Nice play park. Perfect access to cycle path also nice walk for dogs. Really good cafe/farm shop just a few minutes walk along the cycle track.

Booked this site on line in March this year, after looking around the area via Google maps. A warm greeting on arrival, at agreed time and given key to our Caravan. The site has about 40 fixed Caravans, all appear fairly new, are laid out with plenty of space between them on well presented & maintained grassed area.
Our accommodation was excellent, very clean & modern with all the comforts & equipment needed for a pleasant holiday. Picnic tables alongside and car parking restricted to marked bays on hard standing nearby, which was perfect.
The indoor pool was warm & area clean, it was easy to access , walking in swimming gear from accommodation was easiest way for us. The towing van and camping area was also well presented and the whole site had adequate waste and recycling bins. This was our first visit, but hopefully not the last.

First time at River Valley Holiday Park, St Austell, booking a static caravan for a week (wish we had booked 2) and I have to say it is a lovely holiday park. Check in was simple and speedy by a lovely lady and everything was ready for us. We found our caravan to be well equipped, extremely comfortable and the cleanliness was exceptional (and I am rather fussy!) The mattress looked brand new and was very comfortable. We were pleasantly surprised by the lovely welcome pack of fresh eggs, milk, Cornish tea and biscuits. The site itself is very clean, well maintained, peaceful and not overcrowded, no rowdy clubhouse or billy bears popping up anywhere! Surrounded by beautiful trees, sheltered and relaxing; just perfectly lovely! Facilities include a shop and cafe close by via a lovely walk selling food and groceries, etc, a spotlessly clean and covered swimming pool, just a short walk from any pitch. There is a lovely playground for children with a zip wire and, as the park is not vast, it appears a very safe environment for little ones. The facilities for campers looked immaculate, including a laundry room. It is also close to major supermarkets. On some evenings mobile takeaway outlets visit and we sampled the fish and chips from the Fishermen’s Chippy in Mevagissey and they were delicious, can highly recommend. Quite close by is the Polgooth Inn (advise to book during busy weeks), food was delicious and they also do takeout. Just down the road is Pentewan Sands where you are able to park, for a fee, and use the beach and facilities. Not far away are the beautiful villages of Mevagissey and Charlestown. All in all, River Valley Holiday Park is a lovely park, close to popular attractions, great value for money without all the frills of some of the hullabaloo sites. So glad we found it. We highly recommend. Thank you for a truly relaxing break.

Our 2nd time staying at River Valley Holiday Park, both times in a caravan. Very reasonably priced in comparison to other sites in the area.
Lovely site. Friendly and helpful staff. I like the fact it is family orientated and a relatively quiet site, with no “entertainment” or that sort of thing you get on the larger sites. It’s not a place where there’s loads of noise or unruly kids or other visitors. I like the fact it’s not too “big” with around 40 caravans and similar amount of camping pitches, which makes it a nice place without the overwhelming busyness of other campsites.
Great play area for the younger kids and a zip line. The indoor pool is great and was never really that “busy” whenever we went to use it. Indoor games room with fruit machines and snooker tables etc which we didn’t use due to the age of our kids.
The caravans were immaculately clean, modern, comfortable and cosy. Beds all made up on arrival. Supplied our own towels. All come with your own picnic bench outside which is great for those warm evenings to have some dinner.
Fish & chip van came on the Monday eve from a local chippy in Mevagissey. Also the premises in Meva is highly rated and the chippy van is just as good.
Nice walking path just behind the campsite and accessed from the site too, which leads to their farm shop but also continues beyond too.
Will need a car to get to beach, places etc but this isn’t a problem. It’s location is very accessible and easy to get around.
All in all, another enjoyable and memorable stay. We booked to return next August before we had even finished our holiday. Looking forward to returning.
