We were three generations, grandparents, parents and three children aged 6,5 and 4 months staying at Roebuck for one very wet and windy week at the end of July. We could not have chosen a better place to be.
The indoor pool was always quiet and beautifully warm, the sports barn large enough for football and the perfect place for badminton, table tennis , snooker and cartwheels. When we did face the outdoors the small play area was a great success with scooters. Kate's almost daily animal feeding session lasted often over an hour while she patiently facilitated feeding, egg collecting, grooming, and cuddling the guinea pigs. When it was really wet she moved the activity into the barn so nobody missed out. She is a delight.
We arrived to a cream tea and the most generous hospitality; everything one could need for breakfast. The cottage was to a very high standard and everything reflected the very generous and thoughtful spirit of the family who own and run the farm.
We would return and hopefully explore more of the lovely beaches close by.
And perhaps get to sit out on the little balcony with the stunning views, or use the private patio with barbeque next time!

Wow! What a review, thank you - I think you have perfectly captured what we as a family try to do here at Poltarrow. I am so happy that you were pleased you chose to stay! We very much look forward to welcoming you all back on another, hopefully sunnier occasion. Thank you again, Kate

We had such a wonderful time staying at Poltarrow Farm. We stayed in Red Deer and honestly couldn't recommend it enough. Our 2 year old son had the time of his life, the facilities were perfect for his age and he's still talking about "Farmer Kate" and feeding the animals. There are only 6 cottages so although you saw other people it never felt busy. The site is beautifully laid out but not huge which was perfect for me being pregnant with a toddler. Saying that there was a farm trail you could do if you did want a longer walk.

The family are all very friendly and work tirelessly to maintain everything to a really high standard. We have stayed in other self catering holiday homes but they really do think of everything here which made life so much easier with a little one and travelling a long way. The welcome hamper was amazing and such a lovely touch

Thankyou all at Poltarrow for a lovely holiday!

Stayed for a week during Feb 2022, with our children and grandchildren. We stayed in 3 of the cottages, all were furnished and decorated to a very high standard.
The location is fantastic, amidst acres of farmland and ideally placed to explore the local area.
On site amenities are excellent, grandchildren loved the heated swimming pool and the large sports/games room.
Owners were really friendly and helpful. Grandchildren enjoyed helping Kate feed some of the farm animals in the morning.
A great place to stay and we are already planning a return visit next year.
Thanks Judith, Kate and family for helping make our family holiday such a special occasion.

We have just returned from a fantastic week at Poltarrow. The cottage was spotlessly clean when we arrived and had everything we could have asked for, including highchairs, cots and bedsides for our small children, and the owners had very thoughtfully provided us with scones, bacon, sausages and apple juice, which were waiting for us upon arrival.

The children loved the swimming pool, softplay and outdoor play area, but particularly enjoyed feeding the farm animals and the Pony ride.

The owners were very friendly, and you felt that nothing would be too much trouble,

We loved Poltarrow farm, and hope to return in the future for another great holiday.

We stayed as a family here in the middle of September my partner, our little boy and my sister and mother. We stayed in Roebuck and had the loveliest stay.
The cottage itself is just beautiful with gorgeously furnished rooms and very comfy beds and sofas, I was a bit dubious using a travel cot but the one they left was ever so comfy for a little boy with lovely clean bedding.
We were welcomed with a gorgeous spread of farm produce and an afternoon tea, though we were so well stocked up we forgot to buy butter! The place is immaculately clean and on a gorgeous farm. One day we got to feed the animals with our boy and it was lovely to do, the lady that shown us round was funny and told great anecdotes of her father.
We also used the swimming pool which was lovely and warm.
All of the people we met at the cottage were ever so kind and checked in and made us feel very welcome, they even went to the trouble of mailing us a charger we left behind.
There’s lots of nice trips near by, I thoroughly recommend the lost gardens of Heligan and if you’re happy to travel a bit further Hidden Valley Park is a great day out for the family with lots of puzzles and games to solve for a very reasonable price.
Overall a fab stay and would consider stopping again.

I almost didn't want to write this review because if it gets too popular we won't be able to book again but I can't do that to Poltarrow after such a wonderful week there. We have stayed in lots of high quality self-catering cottages all over the UK but Poltarrow is definitely the best, especially for families. We stayed in Fallow with our two kids age 3 and 8. It was spacious, spotlessly clean and well-equipped. It was also beautifully furnished and the sofas and beds were extremely comfortable. The farm itself is just wonderful. Our kids loved the swimming pool and the 'one family at a time' arrangement meant we had it to ourselves. We appreciated there not being a rota or sign up slots as it meant we could all be flexible and all the families on the site were respectful of each other's time. Our little one loved the soft play room but the absolute highlight was the animal feeding every morning with Kate, who was so friendly and great with the kids. We also loved playing with the guinea pigs. Instead of being upset by bad weather it meant an afternoon of swimming, playing and cuddles with Caramel the guinea pig.

The welcome pack was appreciated with generous amount supplied, and there are lots of supermarkets nearby.

The location is fabulous. A short drive from the Lost Gardens of Helligan which makes the weekly pass worthwhile, and close to fantastic beaches on both the north and south coasts. Our favourite was Porthcurnick.

We were all sorry to leave and hope to come back in the future.

We had such a wonderful holiday at Poltarrow Farm. Excellent facilities, perfect for our 21month old, soft play, pool and outdoor play. Every morning we could feed the farm animals. The location is perfect, most things are within a 20min drive - Eden project, Heligan, Mevagissey etc. Even though it’s perfectly set up for children, it would still be great for couples as it’s a quiet farm. We stayed in Sika cottage which was all on one level, so better for small children. It was lovely. A fridge full of food was waiting for us - milk, scones, bacon, sausages, eggs and more!! We would definitely come back! Honestly one of the nicest places we’ve ever stayed!

This place is beginning to feel like a second home! We were 4 adults plus 2 children (7 and 10) and fitted nicely into Roebuck. This year, with the kids being older we made good use of the on site sports hall, and the swimming pool. Our 7 year old again enjoyed the daily animal feeding. Judith and Kate were as welcoming and helpful as usual. Thank-you Poltarrow!

We were lucky enough to stay at Poltarrow Farm for over three months last autumn, plus another couple of weeks this February. My husband was working in the area so we came along too - who would say no to a long stay in Cornwall? We stayed in several of the cottages, and even the B&B for a few nights, and can honestly say the accomodation is some of the best we have experienced. The cottages are kept beautifully clean, well equipped and comfortable. Fallow was our main base, and came to feel like a home from home. The farm is very welcoming, with morning visits to feed chicks, lambs, guinea pigs, ducks and fish being the highlight for our daughter. She especially loved the guinea pigs :) Fresh cakes each weekend were looked forward to with much anticipation and were always delicious! The swimming pool and sports hall are fantastic facilities, and being out of season we generally had the pool all to ourselves. Locally, with the Eden Project, Heligan and Charlestown on the doorstep there is no end of places to visit. I can especially recommend the beach at Caerhays for children - even at high tide, the beach shelves so shallowly, the water doesn't get deep until a very long way out.

Overall, I feel very lucky that we came across Poltarrow Farm, as being away from home for such a long time it was important to find somewhere we felt comfortable, and it is fair to say I did not want to leave in the end. A wonderful place, run by the friendliest family, thank you for all your help with our last minute bookings, changes of dates, and work-related wifi issues! I would happily have stayed for another three months given the chance.

Our family of 4 stayed at Poltarrow in the last week of July. What a find!! Clean, tidy accommodation with everything you might need for a week away. The facilities are brilliant for families with children of all ages. Our kids loved the pool, sports hall, boating lake and animal feeding. Younger kids have a soft play room and outdoor playground with ride on toys too.
Location is perfect for days out on the North and South coast of Cornwall. Having older kids we did lots of adventurous activities located nearby and lots of eating out. Definitely 5 stars from us.
