The staff were absolutely lovely and a real asset to this hotel. My first room (3) was in-between a fire door which banged when closed and the ladies toilets which are on the first floor for the bar and restaurant below. I was therefore concened I might be woken up by people inadvertently if there were using the faciltiies. They moved me to room 17 on the next floor up with no trouble at all. I had a good night's sleep and the only issues were the WiFi didn't reach the room and I couldn't turn the bathroom radiator down, so it was quite warm. This is an old building, so it is quirky, which is part of its charm and there was no noise even though the door didn't quite fit the frame. Breakfast service was again very good and there was a good range of options as you can see from the menu. I would stay here again but would ask not to be put in room 3.…

We stayed for two nights, the room was bijou but adequate, the staff were really helpful and pleasant. Everywhere was clean and tidy with lovely Christmas decorations. The Cornish breakfast was very good, they cater for GF by omitting the sausage and offering GF toast. A really good stay, thank you!

Stayed for 2 nights while visiting family. Warm welcome from staff. Room 4 small ish but perfectly adequate for our needs with a comfy bed and very nicely fitted bathroom. Car park across the road is always a convenient thing for a town centre hotel. Very convenient for the station and town centre. Staff very welcoming, freshly cooked food both breakfast and in the bar excellent. Will definitely visit again.

This used to be so nice but called in yesterday and it was a mess. 3 workers stood at reception desk chatting. Asked if we were in to eat or drink then left us stood at dirty bar with empty glasses and floor was sooo sticky! I don’t know what happened here but it’s gone down hill and won’t be returning. We were ignored and left again. Dirty and felt like a hostel.

Great location to visiting the edan project & surrounding beaches. ... Nice clean rooms & bar area . Friendly staff & great breakfast. Plus car park around the side of the building.. The only negative thing is the toilets around the bar area really need updating..

On arrival my wife and I were greeted by a pleasant young man, once booked in he asked if we needed help with our luggage, which we declined. Our room was clean and a reasonable size, bathroom was what one would expect in an ensuite, clean and supplied with a hairdryer. Our room also had an ironing board and iron. Breakfast had a lot of choices, all the choices made for our week stay were good portions and cooked well. We ate at least four times in the evenings and each meal was cooked to perfection, I personally liked the rack of lamb, although the homemade steak and onion pie with vegetables, was the best I tasted. Overall our stay at the White Hart Hotel was a pleasant one with excellent staff and we would recommend it to anyone.

Whilst staying nearby a quick internet search indicated The White Heart was offering a varied menu. I found the bar dining area tired and in need of some TLC. There was a small lounge area but we sat at our table straight away. The important things were: 1. All the staff were totally professional, engaging and customer focussed. 2. As said the menu offered a great range of choices at very reasonable prices. 3. My food was home made, fulsome and just as I like it. Nothing left on the plate. I declined a look at the desert menu on the grounds that I would let my eyes overrule my brain. No complaints. Highly recommended.

After reading the review of this charming hotel by Clair Pain, I felt that a different perspective should be offered. It is quite true that the rooms would benefit from modernisation but the room in which my wife and I stayed, room 3, was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the water for the en suite bathroom was wonderfully hot. The food was outstanding - breakfast freshly cooked to order - and the attitude of the waiting staff could not be bettered. It is hardly surprising that there is noise from the passing traffic in the morning as ths is a town centre hotel, and is less than 5 minutes walk from the bus and railway station. The next time we visit St Austell we will have no hesitation in choosing the White Hart again.
