Honestly a nice hostel - the location is great, the rooms are fine, and the sheer choice of accommodation types is amazing. BUT do not come here expecting to relax and chill. This is a party hostel, and I've had very little sleep since being here. Why have rules if they are not enforced? It says you have to be...

Arts Factory is very hippy. The rooms were stuffy and lacked good air con. Also the staff were quite rude on. There's also a well built gentleman with sleeve tattoos that you need to be wary of. He only gave his time to attractive girls, other people I knew in the hostel recognised it. The showers were dirty and wi-fi...

The worst place I've been to yet in Australian. Byron bay itself is lovely but the arts factory is a dump. Unclean, noisy and smells of cannabis pretty much 24/7. Staff are unhelpful and some are rude. Room was horrible and a sweat box. People say it's got a cool hippie vibe. And what they mean by this there are...

I really enjoyed my stay here ! For sure the best hostel in byron ! Amazing chilled social atmosphere and the stuff was very friendly. There is a pool and you can camp on the premises. The kitchen and bathrooms get cleaned a few times per day. It's a 10 minute walk to the city but there is also a...

Our group didn't really enjoy our stay here - although the gardens and wildlife are nice and it feels really tropical the rooms weren't great. We stayed in 4 bed 'rooms' in the island retreat and they were really damp. The sheets were damp when you got into bed and after two nights all our clothes just felt damp and...

Thanks for taking the time to write a review Signe. We do have dorms in the main area of the hostel as well as the canvas retreats. Everything feels "damp" because of the high humidity in summer. In can be a weird sensation when you are jot used to it!

Had 3 weeks in Australia, 1st week spent with a friend near Brisbane, second week in Sunshine Coast and the third week at Byron Bay. Friends recommended I stay at The Arts Factory Hostel. What a beautiful place! I shared a wooded/waterside cabin with 4 beds. Met some lovely people but everyday I was in a awe of the beauty...

I was unsure of what to expect after reading some mixed reviews, but this place was great. As clean as you would expect a hostel to be, great facilities, lots of fun stuff happening. Talent show is a must-do. I found it very easy to meet new people as a solo traveler. Just don't leave your breakfast unattended! This little...

Don't listen to people on this website talking about how long the walk is from arts factory to main road its a 15 min walk max and so is fine to deal with. The hostel has a great quirky hippy vibe and so everyone is really relaxed and there to have a good time. The staff aren't necessarily friendly but...

Thanks for your review Olivia, I will pass on the feedback to housekeeping that there is room for improvement. I am sorry to hear the staff did not rate as friendly, and I will mention this to them, as usually they are pretty happy to deal with our fabulous guests. Thank you for your other positive comments, glad to hear...

Dear SavageBarber - wow, what a scary nom de plume! So glad you enjoyed your stay. Damn right about the long term crew, drives us insane that they cannot clean up, we have introduced a round the clock cleaner while the kitchen is open, and it has made a huge difference. So glad you enjoyed your stay, and ll the...
