Room clean and well appointed Access to laundry and breakfast room. There is a pool, parking and close to shops and bowling club which is very large and offers plenty of seating areas, bars and eating area.
Carol was very friendly and helpful. Our room was very clean and spacious. The location is central with great discounts as a member of the Bowlo. Thank you Carol for you pleasant personality and vast array of knowledge about The Ridge. We will be recommending this motel.
I had a great room which was clean and safe. The staff were amazing and very helpful when my car broke down. In fact all the townsfolk were very understanding and nice whilst I tried to organise another way to get to Cairns. In summary, thanks so much to the staff that helped me so much during my very stressful time. Thank you
We were the first coach trip into Lightning Ridge in 2022, 41 people arrived at 6-00pm and Carol has to allocate rooms, and get us all across the road to the Bowling Club for dinner in 30 minutes. The rooms were a lot better than I imagined for an outback town, our large queen bed was very comfortable. Shower area was dated but very clean, great TV, plenty of room to spread out! The A/C worked very well, Our coach company arranged for breakfast each day, well cooking for 42 people was no trouble, and Carol should commend her kitchen staff for being so efficient and hard working, and particularly friendly with nothing being too much trouble for them. The motel is across the road from Lightning Ridge Bowling Club which has excellent meals and if you join the Bowlo for $3 for 12 months you get a voucher for $3 at the bar and 10% off your motel costs…
The Wallangulla Motel in Lightning Ridge has to have some of the most basic motel rooms I have ever stayed in! I was on a group tour, staying three nights. The welcome to the group on arrival was friendly, but when I went to Reception on two occasions after that, not so friendly. The group was accommodated in the older “Potch” section. Definition of potch: Fairly worthless, but with the possibility of better things to come. My room did not even “hint”! The motel’s website describes it as “Our original section of rooms, now fully renovated with modern comforts and facilities. ….. these rooms are sensational at a budget price.” They may have repainted the room that I had, but that is all, and no way could my room ever be called “sensational”! I travel single and was given a twin room. There is no photo of any room similar on the Wallangulla Motel website – is this a surprise? With nowhere to put my case, I chose to put it on the bed nearest the wardrobe. The bar in the wardrobe is 6ft off the ground (yes, I have a tape measure) so the fixed coat hangers are difficult to use. There were no drawers to put anything away. Most things had to stay in my case. Neither single bed had a head-board. One had half of the end of the bed up against the sink and the other bed had half against the wardrobe. Unfortunately, the bed I chose to sleep in, had an old mattress, with rigid sides, sagging in the middle and I could feel the springs against my back! No bedside table to put things on -watch, glass of water; book etc., - but there would be no room for it anyway. The only power-point near the bench (desk), was used for the TV and clock – there was another double power-point high over the sink, for the microwave – hardly suitable for charging a phone or camera. The bathroom was so tight, that to come out of the shower, one has to step back into the room. There is no shelf in the shower to put soap and shampoo – not everyone likes, or can use, the liquid stuff. With only 21½” (1ft 9½ ins) between the washbasin and the closed door, there is hardly room to turn around! Sometime after 1am I finally gave up trying to sleep in that bed, and decided to move my case and try the bed backing on to the wardrobe. Whilst still having a rigid edge, this mattress was supportive and didn’t sag in the middle. I managed about 3 hours sleep. Unfortunately, I will be on a tour at the end of April, again staying at the Wallangulla Motel for two nights. I just hope to get a better standard of room. On the “plus” side – the air con works well, and the light over the bed was good for reading – room light was weak. The shower was excellent, hot and good pressure, and the towels were also good. God breakfast served from bain marie.…
Comfortable rooms, perfect sized pool, great spot and very friendly staff! Great base to walk to all the pubs, shops, restaurants and out of town exploring too. Carol is a legend and great to talk to. Will definitely visit again!
Good establishment with nice amenities, air conditioner, nice facilities with good breakfast and bbq, and pool area, friendly and Hospitable staff located in the centre of town with good access to local attractions Thank you
We had a lovely little room with 2 single beds with nice mattresses, big enough bathroom, kitchenette, all very clean and basically everything that we needed. Microwave came very useful, so was the little fridge. Staff was friendly and helped us to find places to visit.
Carol the Manager is very obliging and helpful. Motel is conveniently situated near all the main amenities of the town. The motel pool is clean and inviting. Good advice on local attractions and tours.
