Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The place is in a good location and quite spacious rooms. the traffic noise at night was overwhelming. Used to be a 4 star maybe 10years ago but not anymore. Definitely in need of a good cleaning and touch up mostly in the bathroom area. The TV was switching on and off by it self and it's the oldest I have seen in a long time. The front desk staff not so friendly/welcoming.

Excellent budget hotel. Very clean roomy and well maintained. Good position close to beach and RSL club. Very impressed with our stay. Only one night and will definitely come back. Would recommend this hotel for a short stay. Only issue is the top floor is only accessed by stairs.

Very very ordinary. Mould in the bathrooms, carpets obviously not vacuumed, blow flies in the sliding window and door sills, poorly maintained, even the paint job was slapped up...it simply doesnt live up to its price bracket.. but Putting the poor value for money issue aside i felt slightly embarrassed for the management who either didn't care or were oblivious to the idea of a positive customer experience. A business model or just squeezing the last $$ out of a building that is sadly at the end of its life and waiting to be redeveloped? The last little bit of salt in the wound was the laminated sign in the kitchen( a kitchen that didnt seem to have hot water or dish washing liquid provided by the way). The friendly note threatens another hundred if you dont (more like cant) washup your dishes....Sick joke?

Advertised with restaurant, breakfast and coffee. Huge draw card for me as carer of a husband with dementia and on walking stick. Not advised restaurant closed when I’d rung to confirm 2 weeks prior. Upsetting and very disappointed on arrival. Refused to contemplate refund and very rude receptionist. Still advertising open functioning restaurant.

Just had a lovely holiday here. The rooms, all though dated, were immaculate. The manager/host was very friendly and chatty chap ,just what you want.It was very quiet and in a perfect position for a return holiday from scotland to see family and friends.Unfortunetly, the resturant wasnt open, due to no staff,as im in the hospitality industry,im well aware of the staffing problems, such a shame, but wasnt a problem, nelson bay has some extremely fine resturants around EVERYWHERE anyway. The only advice i would give,is having a room safe put into rooms, would of been perfect. Can i also add, having a small milk (instead of those tiny tubs)was a brilliant move, and plenty of coffee also, made my stay even better. So 9/10 is my svore Peninsula,WELL DONE

We stayed in a 2 bedroom unit which was nice but lots of stairs inside and out. It was fairly clean but not excellent. Good for a big family to stay in the 2 bedroom apartments as there is plenty of space. No view of the water, set back from the main area.

If I had to rate the staff it would be a straight 5/5. Excellent service and so helpful. Room large with a very comfortable king sized bed. Sofa (sofabed) was difficult to sit comfortably on as the cushions seem to have lost all their support. Could have made better use of the space in the room and it would benefit from a lick of paint and some of the furniture repaired or replaced. To be honest when I booked this, I expected roughly what I got, but being on a long trip we have stayed at far better places for less. In both Australia and New Zealand. Final comment, the guest services book, I appreciate you need to advise customers of additional charges for bad behaviour, damage etc but this book just goes over the top about them, in not very friendly language. There's even a bit about EVICTION and a final stern warning, on your way out, about fines if you forget to leave the TV remote!

A huge plus was they offered a full cancellation up to the day before arrival if the trip had to be cancelled or postponed. Goodo. The room was clean and the bed was fine. The general air was of a cinderella in limbo: a godmotherly wand might appear to refix bathroom floor tiles, to re-attach powerpoints to the wall, to dim the rattle of the bathroom fan, to replace the wobbly bedlamp...did somebody say Prince Handyman? I'm not quite sure why the room closest to the office was allocated to us...the place was almost unoccupied on our first night. Anyway, cleanliness was enough to cheer us through the stay. And the aircon did work, hooray. Whilst the telly remote was a bit temperamental...and the absence of toaster or microwave seemed a tad stingy. But well done to Peninsula for being in Nelson Bay during a fab weather week.

Stayed here for one night, that’s enough time to spend here. To its credit it was the cheapest place in Nelson Bay when we stayed. The second good point is it’s close to the Diggers, just a five minute walk away. It’s nothing special, but you can sleep and have a shower.
