We did this trip to fulfil a dream of my Dad's before he died to find an opal. Staying underground was an added bonus. I think the thing to remember is " its in the Australian desert" so no ensuite, its no drama to walk to the bathroom. No "Free wifi" no dramas, play table tennis, play darts, sit outside...

The underground hotel is certainly the place to be! An authentic outback pub and hotel. The rooms are simple, no private facilities, the plugs and lightswitches difficult to find... The first thing to remember is that this is the outback, and if you are expecting a similar standard to what you'd find on the coast you may be disappointed. Not knowing what to expect we booked on advice of friends. There is not much to do in White Cliffs so if your hoping for an Opal mine tour check they are operating.
