Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very comfortable rooms that were bright and cheerful. Stayed overnight after a wedding. Plenty of linens. Awesome bathtubs. Common areas for families to gather. Beautiful grounds. Great breakfast the next morning.

Went to JAI for our 55th anniversary. First the pluses - the grounds and facilities are beautiful. We have been there a number of times over the years and this is the first time we’ve eaten outside. It was refreshing as our retirement community offer few opportunities for eating in the open air. We felt very safe in this covid situation in which we find ourselves, especially since the weather cooperated. So much for the pluses. We started our meal with our usual drink, a Manhatten. It was filled to the brim with ice and very little bourbon. I would suggest your mixologist travel up the road to Millers Ale House for a lesson. Twice the liquor for a third less price. Bread offered with the meal was excellent – fresh and crispy. We followed that with the chowder which was

We are all struggling to cope with the problems a pandemic brings. Joseph Ambler Inn is no exception. Of course, they still have their beautiful grounds and landscaping, historic buildings, hard working staff. Their restaurant seems quite popular, and this is for a good reason, I think. Great food at reasonable prices. But, the amenities suffered. We were there for two nights and cleaning was not offered. We had overflowing trash (from 3 people, breakfast, etc.) with no obvious way for us to empty it ourselves. Plastic cups and ice bucket liner were not replaced. We did get a basket of towels and shampoo in front of our door in the late afternoon. Each day the same “grab and go” breakfast was a chilled granola bar, a cold strawberry pastry, a cold, dry scone, a plastic knife,

Hello and thank you for your review. Yes these challenging times have been rough for us all. We are following all the CDC guidelines set forth. We are unable to service the rooms on a daily basis as we are protecting our staff as well as you. The Complimentary breakfast to go offering is what we provide at this time until restrictions are lifted. We assure you, we are trying our best to accommodate our guests.

This was our third visit to the Inn, but our first stay in this area of the Inn (Conrad Room 108) We have previously stayed in the Allman suite and the Thomas Moore Section. The Inn itself is lovely and the grounds are beautifully maintained. Great place for couples and peaceful. Keep in mind this is historic so if your offended by imperfections in the paint, or cracks in ceilings this isn’t necessarily the location for you. (The Conrad room seems more dated than the room we stayed at in the other building). I personally don’t mind the cosmetics as it adds to the charm. However, despite this we did some encounter negatives during our stay. First upon entering our room the smell of mildew and/or mold was overwhelming. I noticed others have had this issue with this

Thank you so much for your review. Given the rain deluges of late, your room may have had a musty odor and we apologize for that. As far as the cleanliness, there is no excuse and we have addressed all issues with the housekeeping staff. We would have been more than happy to upgrade you to one of our beautiful suites if you alerted us to these encounters. We value you and hope you will be visiting us soon. I can assure you the experience will be more suitable. All the best during these trying times. David Arena-Hotel Manager

We stayed here while on a business trip. This hotel (or is it a bed and breakfast?) is cute. Small. Clean. Colonial decor. Check-in was quick and painless. Parking on-site. No elevator, so be prepared to carry luggage up 2 flights of stairs. Rooms are small, but modern. Two queen beds side-by-side with maybe 6 inches separating them. Large closets. Very comfortable room. The room is bright, even at night, and could use room-darkening shades. The carpet was new, and smelled new (which is good!) The bathroom is small with a pedestal sink and dim lighting. FYI, women need large vanity tops and bright lighting to do their make-up and hair. Beds were comfortable. There is a large seating area just outside the rooms. The restaurant was located on the first floor of our building, so we

I had a fantastic two night stay at the Joseph Ambler Inn. Check-in was quick and easy, and the staff are so, so lovely. It has a lovely, quaint feel to the place, with rooms found in different outbuildings. The room itself was very nice, although starting to look a little tired in places. Breakfast was beautiful, as was the two meals we had here!

I have stayed twice here, each time in a different cottage but with the same experience. I was on a writing retreat looking to hole myself up with no distractions, so if you are there for a wedding you'll probably have a better time. The pros: The rooms are lovely, comfortable and unique. Showers are clean and modern. I love the little nooks in each guest house- lots of living room areas to lounge in or work in a comfy chair. The staff couldn't be better- from the front desk to the bartender, everyone was lovely. The cons: Noise. The first room I was in was over the restaurant, so the diners, the piano player, the service was all heard clearly and loudly. The second time I stayed in the Roberts house over the meeting space where cocktail hours were also heard loudly and

I am so sorry that you encountered some disturbances during your stays with us. We do have some events happening in the houses during regular business hours. I have a nice solution for you and hope you will give us another chance. We have the Thomas Wilson house which is situated across the grounds and is completely separated from the rest of the hotel. It is VERY quiet and there are never any events happening in the common areas. Oh and thank you for the comments about our fitness facility. It is now going under a transformation to update the equipment. Without constructive criticism we cannot strive to give the best customer experience. All the best and see you soon!

Just got back this morning from 2 nights at the inn. Didn't meet one person that didn't greet us with a smile. Room was beautiful. Bed was so comfortable. Bar was warm and inviting. Dinner was wonderful. Spent all day yesterday at Peddler's Village which was about 20 minutes away. Looking forward to staying again soon.

We had a wonderful New Years Eve dinner. The entire meal was awesome. We were not rushed and the courses were paced perfectly! The Bibb salad was great with pears and pistachios, the seafood appetizer was unique and the lobster cake over rice was awesome with carrots and asparagus. All the desserts were great, took most of them home as we were already full. The staff was great the atmosphere was very festive. Would highly recommend!
