Cozy inn with welcoming and attentive keepers! Clean rooms and convenient location. We visited Newport, RI twice over the weekend and the commute was quick and easy. The breakfast was delicious. Our package also included dinner on the arrival day.

Love this place! The best B&B experience ever!!! The most friendly and attentive inn keepers, the most comfy and cozy room/athmosphere. We would recommend (actually encourage) anyone to stay there. You'll get to relax, laugh and unwind there... plus the both Doug and Liz are locals and they give great suggestions/input on things to do and places to see.

Liz and Doug run a great business. The Inn is attractive and well kept. Our garden room faced the backyard and was very comfortable. Liz and Doug were perfect hosts. Delivered everything that was advertised including great breakfasts'. They were friendly and welcoming without over doing it. They were also very helpful with restaurant choices and places to visit. We have stayed at the William's Grant Inn many times, under the previous owners. This was our first time with Liz and Doug, the new owners, who are doing a great job! They were born to be inn keepers! We were made very welcome and felt at home instantly. Small improvements have been made to the guest rooms without taking...

My husband and I attended a wedding at Blithewold Mansion and stayed at the William's Grant Inn for the night. I would highly recommend this historic bed and breakfast. Upon entering we were greeted with candies and cookies. We stayed in the Middleburg room, a very spacious and quiet room upstairs. Our room was very clean, and the bed was...

It was a great 3 night "girls getaway" stay with welcoming hosts, Liz and Doug, who made us feel like family ! Our room (Blithewold) was clean, comfortable, cozy, and quiet. The perfect start to the day was a delicious gourmet breakfast accompanied by great conversation with our hosts and the other guests. The location was perfect, with a short...

My husband and I stayed here while in Bristol for our friends wedding and we had a wonderful stay!! The owners, Doug & Liz, were great and went above and beyond to make the stay warm and comfortable (welcome sign, plate of fresh baked candies, candy jar, coffee room with fridge with sodas and waters, etc). We stayed in Blithewold,...

William's Grant Inn is in a fabulous neighborhood, just a few blocks from the waterfront in historic Bristol, R.I., where it seems nearly every house has a story to tell by virtue of the plaques that commemorate when they were built and for whom. The broad wooden floor planks throughout the Inn are a peek into the overall craftsmanship of...

I spent 2 nights at the William's Grant Inn and loved it! Located close to Roger William's University and the heart of Bristol, RI. Within hours of arriving I felt as if I was close to home even though it's located about 400 miles away. Doug and Liz made my stay very comfortable, provided excellent breakfasts during my stay and...

Wonderful stay weekend of July 22nd. Our gracious hosts, Liz and Doug, went all out to make sure we were comfortable. Delightful breakfasts with lots of options. If you have special diet needs they go out of their way to accommodate you. Liz went so far as to find a yogurt that I really loved and made sure it was...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
William’s Grant Inn is an old sea captain’s home built by William Bradford in 1808 on a quiet street a short distance from Bristol town center. It is a 5-bay Federal Colonial style, furnished throughout with antiques. Visit the large collection of teddy bears from many parts of the world, nestled within the collections of American and foreign furniture and curios and art. Many of the hanging artworks are family heirlooms done over the past century together with wonderful copies of the great masters. There are fifteen large koi in the fish pond placed in the back gardens, an oasis of fern and other greenery. The rhododendrons are magnificent in the spring. Each room is decorated in its own style with antiques. Each has a queen bed and a private bath. A full gourmet breakfast is included for all guests. Gas coal basket fires in three rooms—Blithewold, Sturbridge and Nautical Rooms. The guest parlor has television/DVD/VCR for your pleasure and a piano for those so inclined. Complimentary cold drinks, port, sherry and liqueurs are in the parlor for your enjoyment. The inn is a short walking distance to many fine restaurants and numerous shops featuring antiques, arts and crafts. Bicycles and kayaks are available for rent near the harbor. The East Bay bike path is famous for its gentle grades located upon an old railroad bed—it travels along the water for 15 miles from Bristol to Providence. Many museums and historic buildings are located in Bristol, such as Blithewold Mansion, Herreshoff Marine Museum, Americas Cup Hall of Fame, Linden Place, Coggeshall Farm, and more. Colt Sate Park is a beautiful park off the bike path adjacent to Narragansett Bay, an ideal location for open air picnics, fishing or swimming. ... more   less
