We stayed for 4 nights here and it was truly lovely. We were greeted by Louise upon arrival which was lovely. She is very friendly and always had time for a chat and let us know they were always about if we needed anything. We stayed in Halfyn, which blew us away. The view from the back of the property over the hills was stunning. It was much bigger than we expected, which was great, especially with 3 children (8, 6 and 5). They had plenty of room. It was extremely clean and tidy. We had everything we needed, including a full size fridge freezer and proper oven. Pots pans and oven dishes. All crockery and cutlery also. Lovely clean fresh towels and bedding. The lane up is a narrow one in parts but it is a very quiet road, and in our 4 days there, we only met one other vehicle and once through, absolutely worth it and it has definitely not put us off wanting to go back. A real gem of a find. I would highly recommend Upper Grippath Farms and it’s wonderful hosts. Lots of lovely places around to see and visit, including Barry, which is great for all ages. Crackin 😁 Thank you for a wonderful few days. Kirsty, Neil and the 3 kiddies

We had an excellent small holiday at one of the farm cottages. The place is very very quiet, with wonderful views, but not far away from a major highway which makes all the South Wales attractions easily accessible. A drive thru the local road is smooth. The cottage is very warm, clean, and well-equipped. Everything is in perfect condition / new (incl. blankets, towels, etc). The views from the farm, an uphill, and a nearby national park are truly stunning. Louise and her husband are wonderful hosts. I made a direct booking via their website and it was very smooth & easy too. So all of us were really pleased with our stay.

This place is in the middle of no where, on a single track lane, uphill. Once you reach the location the view are beautiful, the outside grounds are nice too as there are gates and several enclosures, even an enclosed garden for dogs! The lady is very nice and helpful, the cottage was clean, a few cobwebs here and there, furniture is outdated but overall it was a nice cosy place to rest. And very peaceful . Showers nice and hot and the cottage was nice and warm. Just the furniture needs updated and the downstairs bathroom.

We have just had a 7 night stay at Upper Grippath Farm. The location is lovely with great views stretching all the way across to see the Severn bridges. The location is perfect as you feel right in the countryside, but it is easy and quick to get out to the M4 which allows easy travel around south wales. We used this as a base to visit lots of family tourist attractions in South Wales, such as the National Show Caves, Barry Island, the waterfalls, Abergavenny to walk up Sugar Loaf as well as visiting Cardiff Castle. So its a perfect location. We found the holiday cottage we stayed into be very well maintained, lovely and clean and ready for use when we arrived. All the beds we nice and comfy, our 7 year old loved her room. The owner Louise was also very friendly and helpful. We didn't ask prior to booking, but on arrival asked if there was a stair gate we could use, as there was not one currently in our cottage, as stair gates we in use in other cottages. Louise then ordered one for use to use, and it arrived the next day, this was really exceptional service, as we should have remembered to ask when we booked. Overall and great place, exceptional value for money, and would highly recommend.

Stayed at Upper Grippath Farm for 7 nights in August. The cottage we had was spotless when we arrived and nicely laid out. Louise the owner was lovely and very helpful. The view from the cottage was stunning. There are several walks than can be taken from the cottage if you are a walker. The road up (I say road more of a single track) is not for thea faint hearted. All in all a very agreeable stay. I do like the fact that their prices are fixed all year round even during this pandemic.

A good base for our weeks holiday and excellent value for money. We received a warm welcome, the accommodation was clean, well equipped and having a full sized fridge/freezer was a great bonus. A dishwasher and washing machine were also there although we didn't use them. The lounge was a reasonable size as were the bedrooms, and free use of the sauna was wonderful especially on the wet cold days we had. You are completely spoilt for supermarkets as Risca has a Tesco, Aldi and Lidl. There are several good pubs, and with its rail station you can get into Cardiff. However there are a few things you should know or be aware of...it is a mile to the accommodation along a single track road (although during our week we only met other traffic on about 4 occasions). The sofas were good quality but very low and soft. I didn't manage to connect to their internet all week (but didn't mind as it was nice to live without it!!). Sauna took time to heat up so recommend putting it on 5-10 mins before you get in. Those things said I would gladly return for another stay as the accommodation and location are well worth it.

This is our 2nd year we’ve been here and only gets 5 circles because you can’t give more, 3 wonderful cottages with lots of space the owners are wonderful and friendly but give you lots of space and time to yourself, as it’s a working sheep farm there is always the sound of sheep 🐑 bleating a very comforting noise, you don’t need to go abroad for holidays when you have wonderful places like this 👍👍👍

Just returned from a 2 nights at Upper Grippath Farm It was not long enough there. The cottage was perfect for 4 people. Although they only had single beds they were so comfortable and the bed linen was lovely quality. It was brilliant to have a self catering place with made up beds and have nice towels provided.Rooms were spotless, spacious and tastefully decorated. All mod cons in the kitchen including fridge freezer and dishwasher and washer, plenty of china and cutlery. Good heating and plenty of hot water. Highlight for me was holing a baby lamb. It was so quite and peaceful there. Only sound was the sheep Plenty of things to do to suit all ages in local area. Might bring an OS map next time. Narrow lane proved to be no problem. Supermarkets for provisions and excellent Indian restaurant in Risca (need to book for a saturday night). Wonderful sausage and eggs from the farm. Wished i thought to bring my swimsuit to use the sauna. Loved the fact that there was no increase in price in the school holidays. I would certainly book again..
