This doesn't pretend to compete with Charleston Place which is why the prices are much lower. If you want too enjoy historic Charleston you can't beat the location and convenience. Ground level paid parking right outside the inn; fully adequate included breakfast on site; 5-6PM included wine and cheese; very helpful Concierge. As in all old inns, the rooms are...

HOTEL’S FAVOURITE REVIEW

We really enjoyed our two night stay at the hotel. Breakfast in the room was complimentary, the courtyards were gorgeous and the location was very convenient. It's a great place to stay in Charleston that really completes the experience. Despite being a "historic" hotel, our room had all the modern amenities of a new large hotel, plus the charm.

I recently traveled to Charleston with 4 friends and I was the person who made the decision to stay at the Kings Courtyard Inn. I picked it for it's location and it's "warm hospitality" and "inviting rooms". This is how it's described on the website. This was not a good decision on my part. While the location was ideal, I...

It is our goal to provide a relaxing and comfortable stay for all guests, so we sincerely apologize for the issues you experienced with breakfast and housekeeping. Our rooms are totally non-smoking so that our guests are...

The location is ideal for exploring Charleston. Our room was in a perfect location for our dog, who we left in the room while we went out for dinner. The wine and cheese reception was a welcome treat after a long day of driving, and breakfast was excellent. We'll be back every time we visit Charleston!

We always like to be able to walk to everything and not rent a car. This historic inn fit the bill. Lovely room fronting King Street; super nice people at front desk as well as staff serving breakfast and wine/cheese reception from 5-6pm. The hotel has privileges for a gym 2 blocks away for $5 a visit; that was a...

Last minute visit to Charleston. We enjoy staying here when we have our dog with us and I am never worried when we leave him in the room alone to go eat. The staff is very helpful. Parking is convenient.

We picked this location because it's pet friendly. The housekeeping staff was wonderful in accommodating us with our dog. The continental breakfast turned out to be more than coffee and rolls. Lots of cereal choices and the best coffee in the world. They served Douwe Egberts coffee which was fantastic. We parked our cars and walked everywhere else. Parking is...

I have stayed many times at this Inn! After 12 years of visits, I will no longer be staying! The arrogance and attitude of the staff was incomprehensible! Our room was not cleaned and we received no compensation for our inconvenience!

We are very sorry to read about your experience. Our staff is one of our greatest assets and this experience does not reflect the high value we place on customer service and Southern hospitality. After researching what transpired with the cleaning of your room, it seems your room had a do not disturb sign on the door, so the housekeeper...

This is a quaint inn in the heart of Charleston. We found our room rather depressing and dark. You can't beat the location, and there is a parking lot that is extra right out the door. The bathroom had been remodeled but was still a one person job. The closet consists of an armoire. Now granted, when in Charleston, one...

If you're looking for somewhere to stay that's quintessentially Charleston with a great location and good price, this is your spot. I just stayed here 10/13-10/16/16 and truly enjoyed my stay. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Built in 1853, Kings Courtyard Inn is one of downtown Charleston, South Carolina's most historic inns. Architect Francis D. Lee designed the three-story antebellum structure in the Greek revival style with unusual Egyptian detail. The building is one of King Street's largest and oldest structures, and has had many uses during its 150 year existence. The building has housed high quality shops, private residences and at one time, the upper floors served as hotel rooms for plantation owners, shipping interests and merchant guests. Kings Courtyard Inn is located in the heart of Charleston's historic district. The Inn maintains the residential atmosphere of lower King Street, and extreme care has been taken to ensure the necessary architectural and historic accuracy for which Charleston is famous. Each of the rooms has an individual distinction. All rooms feature oversized beds- some have canopied beds and fireplaces. Many rooms boast excellent views of the inn's interior courtyards. All hotel guests receive complimentary sherry on arrival and a morning newspaper delivered to the room. They also receive a continental breakfast served each morning in their room, the courtyards, or in the breakfast room. Kings Courtyard Inn is within easy walking distance of Charleston's historic homes, gardens, churches and only a block away from the City Market. Here, one may explore interesting shops or enjoy a delicious meal at one of the city's many delightful restaurants. ... more   less
