My daughter and I spent 4 nights at this delightful B&B. The room was very comfortable and pleasant. Diane served excellent, lovingly prepared and nutritious breakfasts (and always offered a second serving if we wanted). She displayed an encyclopedic knowledge of the city where she has lived for many years, and suggested well chosen restaurants according to the type of...

A huge thank you to Diane for housing a wonderful weekend in Charleston. What an amazing historical home in a beautiful neighborhood just a few blocks from seemingly everything. We walked to and from most places and walked home from dinner in the evenings from king street and the market and felt very comfortable. My wife and I came here...

My son and I recently stayed at the Charleston Victorian B&B for two nights in late August, 2014. This is truly an historic building, built in the 1820's, and the proprietor has maintained it in historic tradition. The dark pine wood floors sparkle. The rooms are pleasing and decorated in a loving manner. The beds were comfortable, the A/C was...

We visited Charleston for the first time in June. Staying at Country Victorian was very nice - Diane is a charming lady who takes good care of her guests! Yes, there are some notes in the room reminding you to unplug electrical equipment and take off your shoes. We had absolutely no problem with that, she's basically just asking guests...

My wife and I just got back from a three night stay in the Country Victorian. This ornate and interesting property is in the historic district of Charleston, so it is in walking distance from all main shopping, historical sites, restaurants, etc. The proprietor, Diane, is a hard working woman who keeps the property running well and clean. She is...

This is a terrible place that should be closed down. The host is a strange lady who bombards you with rules. Her "breakfast" on a narrow patio could give you a glycemic shock! It is a real $200 per night shocker. It is amazing it is still in business. It has left us with a bad aftertaste about beautiful Charleston...

Happy with the attention from the hostess and the friendly tourist advice given. Breakfast was personal and very pleasant. The hotel is in an old victorian house which badly needs some renovation and a good coat of paint. The room was large and generally comfortable but a bit musty and covered in old 'antiques' which is ok if that's your...

I believe the hostess must be reading these reviews as we had no complaints. Plenty of breakfast and she made a point of asking if we wanted more each day. The place is clean and full of character. Yes, you have to take your shoes off in your room, but it that really so hard? She has a floor rug...

Very enjoyable old B&B South of Broad in a wonderful old Charleston. The owner, Diane, was very helpful in guiding us to local restaurants and events. Next trip to Charleston we will stay at Country Victorian again.

peeling paint and warped wood, musty mildewy smells, walk to our room through a stinky storage room with a room lock that doesn't work (we jammed a chair under the door knob to seal it), no hot water, dank cramped eating area filled to overflow with old hoarded country knick knacks and $185 + 12% "tax" a night, cash only!...

“The upstairs suite encompasses two bedrooms, one larger with a larger bed, along with a sitting room. While there are small, older style TV's in all rooms, there are no big screen TV's anywhere...which I kinda of liked. If you're in Charleston to watch TV, stay at home.”
