The restaurant was very nice and the service was excellent. Our server, Anita, was very attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. We had the combo platters and they were very good. The only issue was that the prime rib was a little fatty.

Dear CArOIT, Thank you for sharing your experiences during your recent stay on Kiawah Island. The safety and wellbeing of our guests and the many residents of Kiawah Island Golf Resort is of paramount concern to us. We have a well-trained, professional and well-staffed security team that coordinates closely with Town of Kiawah and county law enforcement to maintain a safe environment on the island. I would be very interested to know which department of the resort you spoke with. I followed up with the Villa Front Desk, which logs all calls, and there is no record of a call there, so I'm guessing you called another area of the resort. I will message you privately to try to determine which department you spoke with so we can address your concerns. We apologize for the inconvenience you experienced navigating the West Beach Area. We are in the process of completely transforming that area of the resort with a series of exciting new projects. We acknowledge that with progress comes some degree of disruption. Checking our records, the best I can surmise you rented directly from the owner of the villa rather than through us (the resort). Please accept my sincere apologies if I am mistaken in that. Kiawah Island Golf Resort has a policy that if any guest is unhappy for any reason with accommodations and let's us know (the sooner the better) while still on the island we will go to every possible extent to find alternative lodging to suit the guest's needs to try to ensure they enjoy a wonderful vacation experience. We do not own the villas, so regretfully we have no power to try to find alternate accommodations for guests who do not rent through the resort. Thank you for sharing your experience with the after-dark construction incident. I have shared that with the construction project manager so he can make sure that all safety standards are being met and that our contractual agreement regarding construction hours are being honored. We appreciate you making us aware of this incident.

Grocery stores
Dear Explore27, there are two very convenient options. Freshfields, just two or three minutes outside the island's main gate, has a large full-service supermaket. Then on island the resort has Town Center Market located in the center of the island, which is a great place to pick up snacks, drinks, and any incidentals such as sunscreen, toothpaste, pain-killers, etc. It also has a great deli with ready-made and freshly made menu options in addition to a nice wine section and souvenir shop with Tee-shirts and Kiawah-branded merchandise. For our villa and home guests, Town Center Market also has a convenient grocery delivery option that allows guests to have their kitchens stocked upon arrival.

It gets chilly at night. Most days are fairly mild. Water sports suffer but tennis and golf are OK. Bring a light/medium jacket for evenings
