I gave this property a 4, but if I could have, I would have done it in 2 parts and done a 1 and a 5. We booked our stay half of the week in the Sailfish building because we wanted an oceanfront room and...More
this was not what we expected, the was shown online to have two beds and a murphy bed, when we arrived it was two full beds one in each room. with no doors in between the rooms, there was no privacy for anyone.
We got a call an hour before arriving that the owner of one of our reserved condos was demanding to stay and trump our reservation, making 9 people in our party of 23 switch rooms after the first night. Owners should not be able to...More
This is our third stay at Breakers, first one with our kids. I understand it's summer at the beach, but for what I paid for the room, I'm very disappointed.
Pros - Many different pools that you can go to between the different Breakers buildings....More
Great location! The price, quality, amenities, people, were all great! I will comeback in the near future and recommend to others. Bummz next door is outstanding. Rusty Reel was pleasant. Starbucks, SOHO, River City Cafe all within walking distance.

Listen, I have a bad taste in my mouth over our stay and it was partly my fault too. We went there on the spur of the moment during our vacation and it was the week of the 4th of July. So it was really, really crowded and I quickly booked the room without much investigation like I usually do.
We stayed in the Palmetto building, the rooms were clean and the bathroom was nice. We had a corner room that overlooked the street, which at night was kind of pretty seeing all the tail light lit up as far as you could see.
The room had a decent size TV, I believe around a 42" with lots of channels. There was a small refrigerator and a microwave. I did like the fact that there were 2 sinks. One in the actual bathroom and a vanity sink on the outside of the bathroom.
Now, as far as it being updated. It was updated at some time in the past and I mean the long ago past. Wall's were dirty, things were broken from wear and tear, and a very slow elevator (granted there are like 11-12 stories).
One of my first thoughts, when we got into the room was if there was a fire, we were pretty much screwed. I made my husband go and find the stairway (which everyone should do no matter what hotel). But honestly, that was my first thought.
Now for the price....we felt it was very overpriced and on top of the room rate you have to pay a resort fee. I normally don't have a problem with resort fee's, when I feel like we're at a resort. I paid almost as much for 2 nights as I did spending 4 nights at the Marriott in downtown Raleigh.
Parking is a nightmare. Don't even think you're going to get a parking space right there near your room. I'm handicapped and my husband gave one of the bellmen $10 to go stand in the only available handicapped spot while we unloaded the car. Most of the parking is across the street in multiple cars lots and one parking garage. We were going to drive down to the Boardwalk the night we got in but we didn't go because we didn't want to lose our handicapped parking space. And no one could tell us if there was a local taxi service that had wheelchair accessibility.
The employee's at the Breakers were very nice and very helpful and another good thing about it is there are plenty of great restaurants within walking distance and a Starbucks and Ben and Jerry's.
