We stayed 5 nights at this lovely Hotel. The Staff are so friendly especially Chris, who helped my Husband. This was our 3rd year we have stayed for Christmas. The food was as usual superb. And the Beautiful sounds of the Harp, that was played in the Dining Room etc. Unfortunatly this will be our last Christmas stay. We had...

We had a lovely short break here for the summer solstice. Beautiful view from the room, the restaurant and the bar/outside garden. Seems to cater more for a old crowd. We (thirty something) seemed a lot younger than the rest of the residents. Nonetheless, a good hotel. Lovely restaurant, if rather expensive and formal. We had some fantastic walks straight...

We booked a few nights here to explore the Borrowdale valley as opposed to our usual spot in Langdale or Grasmere. The Borrowdale Gates is a good hotel in a lovely setting. It has great views towards Derwent Water in one direction and to Castle Crag in the other. Check in was quick and easy. The staff were all very...

This hotel has a wonderful setting, peaceful and beautiful. The staff are exceptional and seem to know many of the guests who are frequent returners. Our room was spotlessly clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated, as were all the public areas we used. I particularly liked the local walks and trips on the lake, which you can access without needing to...

I picked this off the internet with some trepidation. Described as a hidden gem - translation= the back of beyond! It was delightfully located just outside the village of Grange with magnificent views of the surrounding countryside. We had a garden room with comfortable bed, ensuite wet room - ideal for me with limited mobility, and with a seating area...

Getting to Borrowdale takes time but so worthwhile and beautiful. The hotel is a 5 minute waLk from the village in lovely grounds. Public areas are immaculately maintained and comfortable. The roaring fire lends atmosphere BUT in September it was far too hot in the hotel. Our room was unbearably hot even with wjndiws open and with a fan provided...

My wife and I spent 3 nights here last week at a cost of approximately £100 per person per night for D, B&B. I would class this as expensive but it was well worth the price. The hotel is a converted country house sitting at the southern end of Derwentwater in an area that Wainwright called "the most beautiful square...

Had a lovely time. Beautiful setting for a hotel. The inside is nice but the setting and food are the winners here. Very nice staff too. Going to make it an annual 'date'. Husband and I visited 21years ago as our first weekend away as boyfriend and girlfriend 😘
