We stayed in this hotel in the early 1990s following a recommendation in Arthur Eperon's "French Selection" and found it to be classy, expensive and idyllic then. This time was a long overdue return visit. The hotel remains beautifully situated and the welcome was excellent by the proprietors. The service was extremely friendly but no longer classy. The piscine was...

Chateau d’Urbilhac is a big, imposing country house, built like a fake castle and situated in a woodland on a hill top, overlooking a lovely green valley. At a distance of 2 km from the village Lamastre, it is very quite and peaceful. In front of the hotel is a vast terrace with beautiful views over the valley and the...

My husband & I stayed at the Chateau one night in July. The pool is terrific, especially as it overlooks the beautiful mountains and valleys. Despite the language barrier (American/French), all of our requests were met promptly. We definitely plan to return, but this time for a longer stay.

A long, winding way to get there, but the beauty of the late-19th century mansion and, especially, the setting are well worth the effort. The rooms are highly individual and quite attractive. Breakfast is only average but dinners (guests only) are quite pleasant. Hospitality of the hosts is all that could be asked. Nice pool. A quiet place to spend...

I loved your chateau - and both of you. You made my brief stay very enjoyable. Your gardens were also great with sweeping views. Even though we had the language barrier (Aussie and Fench), I still tell people about the fun we had working through this.. That's life - having fun!! and you made that easy! The dinner was fantastic...

Chateau D'Urbilhac was memorable in every way. It stands in its own beautiful grounds, the rooms were very comfortable, and the service & cuisine by Madame Silvie was first class. Epatant!

Far from the standard and common hotels, this old house is full of charm. It is a great place for a romantic week end off season where there is not so many people (the hotel is open almost 12 months a year) and during summertime for family. Great view, nice swimming pool, fantastic atmosphere of an old French castle. Food...

We had a wonderful restful break at Chateau D'Urbilhac. Magnificent setting, lovely chateau, large swimming pool. The only drawback is no restaurant at the chateau, but there is a Michelin starred restaurant in nearby Lamastre which was excellent. Heartily recommend a stay here if you want beautiful countryside and a lovely place to stay.
