Welcome to Tig Congaile. This family-run B&B is situated on Inis Meain the most untouched of the three Aran Islands. Tig Congaile's tranquil atmosphere and exceptional and serene views of Inis Oirr, the cliffs of Moher and the islands unique landscape, lend towards the rest and revitalization of its visitors, who return time and time again for this very quality. It is also situated a mere 5 minutes walk from the island's traditional pub, where all the locals and visitors can come together to experience a bit of ceol agus craic. And another 5 minute walk in the opposite direction and you will arrive at one of the island's beaches. Your hosts will be Padraig Conneely, a native islander and his wife Vilma, a Guatemalan cook. They started the B&B together from the ground up, and continue to dedicate themselves to making your stay a pleasant and memorable one.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We loved our stay! Vilma is a lovely host and human. She treated us to the most delicious of meals and warmed my husband and I’s hearts. We had a gorgeous view of “the island’s” landscape & surrounding water. I can’t wait to come back for a longer visit! Sending our love!

Gorgeous b&b with fabulous views. Hostess was so charming & knowledgeable about the island. Extremely helpful. Room very clean & comfortable. Food was exceptional - fresh fish for dinner, great selection of healthy options for breakfast.

Lovely spot. A warm welcome from Vilma - because of the time of year and of the Covid restrictions, we were the only people staying in the B&B but there were others who just had dinner there in the evenings. We also ate there and the food was lovely - lobster one evening and I recommend Vilma's goats cheese and spinach omelette in the morning! The room was clean and spacious. The views from the house out over Inis Oirr and the Cliffs of Moher are spectacular. I would definitely stay here again!

We received a warm welcome from Vilma, the owner. Our room was spotlessly clean with a comfortable bed. Easy walking to all the main sites. As the B&B is close to the old pier as opposed to the new harbour, where the ferries come in, Vilma kindly helped with an island taxi (possibly the only island taxi!) to collect us and take us back.

Having received the Georgina Campbell Outstanding Guest Experience Award 2019, I was extremely excited to visit Tig Congaile. Unfortunately, I found the stay underwhelming. I was most excited for the culinary experience however the menu selection was extremely limited and overpriced. The breakfast was tasty but basic. The room was clean and functional however it lacked basic comforts such as hot water in the shower, a hair dryer or the amenities to make a cup of tea. Overall, the b&b lacked the cosy and homely factor which we were hoping for and was more akin to a hostel experience.

Thank you for your comment, yes are menu is not a large one, however every ingredient is carefully selected, vegetables, eggs potatoes etc organic,, fish is catch by line and the selection will be limited to the daily catch. We pride in using local products including seaweed etc. We do not offer tea facilities as we had had so many accidentes, we are in an island and there are no laundry facilities and tea and wine stains are imposible to remove, I’m always available to provide tea or Coffee to our visitors.

Vilma, our hostess, was friendly, interesting and accommodating - not to mention the fact that she is a great cook! The breakfast was not the usual full Irish but a choice of cereals and wonderful omelets - plus lovely home-made muffins and good coffee. Dinner also creative and very tasty. The room was spacious and comfortable and I very much liked the bedside radio - I'm a bit of a radio addict!

There are loads of B&B's on Inis Meaín, all of which have paragraphs of wonderful features about which I could gush. Vilma's native cultural cuisine and tranquil demeanor is brought to the islands, setting her aside while maintaining respect for the deep cultural roots there. I look to Tig Congaile first when I plan to stay on the island, though I will gladly stay with any other B&B.

I didn't go to Inis Meain for the food, but was wonderfully surprised by the meal at Vilma's place! What a great way to end a day of walking. I wish I could have stayed an extra night and experienced more of the great food -.salmon with mussels collected on the shore, potatoes and a very flavoursome sauce, followed by an amazing Apple crumble (which contained pineapple, cinannmon, nutmeg) served with ice cream. Guatemalan ground coffee with a chocolate was the perfect finish!

We travelled for 38 straight hours to reach the lovely Tig Congaile on the Aran Island of Innismaan. We had an absolute delightful experience from the time we got on the ferry then took the taxi to Vilma's beautiful home. Vilma was a wonderful cook from delicious breakfasts to fresh lobster dinners. The rooms were clean and lovely, especially the views from the restaurant as well out some of the rooms. We spent 2 days there where we rested, and settled our hearts and minds. Thank you Vilma you are wonderful!
