Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were looked after so well in Rivergrove by Shirley. We were the only ones staying there at the time and had 4 rooms. As restrictions didn't allow indoor dining in restaurants, Shirley advised a take away service and allowed us to dine the conservatory overlooking the weir with swans and ducks gliding by. We had a lovely time there and she made us feel very comfortable. Lovely homely atmosphere with lovely traditional furniture. Breakfast was excellent with homemade brown bread and homemade potato bread too. Rooms had a lovely view over the River Shannon. Good for local walks and we played golf as well. Afterwards enjoyed sitting in the garden. Many thanks to Shirley.

This is a quality Irish B&B experience. Genuinely friendly and helpful hosts. A wonderful setting and excellent breakfasts. I won't forget the very tasty home made crab apple breakfast jam on my toast while looking at a Grey Heron stalking fish on the Shannon river just outside the window. Even the toast rack used ouses the quality and authenticity of the place. I sat thinking, where else would I encounter this ambiance and care for the money?

This is an idyllic location with a beautiful garden and views of the River Shannon with waterfall and swans and ducks. The location’s beauty is matched by the generosity and graciousness of the hosts who provided a phenomenal Irish breakfast - no doubt one of our best bed and breakfast experiences!

Stayed here for a vacation to visit southwestern Ireland. Great location and an easy drive to see the sights. Shirley and Justin are amazing hosts! The view of the River Shannon is spectacular and peaceful. The pub around the corner has good food and a nice selection of beers and whiskey! Really enjoyed our stay and can't wait to go back!

Couldn't ask for a better location to relax for the weekend. Next to the river, with a garden where to seat and relax, perfect destination to enjoy a quiet weekend away from the city. Hosts are lovely, attention to details and helpful. Breakfast had all we wanted, no questions asked. Totally recommend staying with them

Greeted by the owner Shirley and Justin who were both lovely and friendly. Room was lovely with fantastic view out onto the river. Our room was very comfortable with a large en-suite with bath/shower both were absolutely spotless. Breakfast was just delicious, all fresh and homemade, we had choice of cereals, fresh fruit with yogurt or anything we requested cooked. We had a real home from home experience, highly recommend a stay as we will definitely be returning.

My wife and I had a wedding to attend in Castleconnell and, while we were able to stay in the venue on the night of the wedding, we needed a place to stay the night before. While the village is small and does not abound in accommodation options, it does not need to. In terms of the property, itself, we stayed in Room 3 under the roof on the top floor, two floors up. The room contained two single beds, which was a nice surprise, compared to a regular double bed, which we find too small, compared to the American king (super kingsize for UK readers) we have at home. The views of the River Shannon are lovely from the sky window. The bathroom, while basic, was perfectly functional. Regular tea and coffee equipment was also in the room. The breakfast was delicious and Shirley has anything and everything that one could possibly imagine on a breakfast plate:-) I recommend the Irish bacon in particular - lean and full of flavor!! Shirley and Justin are just the most incredible hosts you could ever wish to meet. First of all, we took the bus from Dublin and it dropped us about 1.5 miles from the B&B. Justin kindly picked us up from the bus stop. The next day, after we checked out, he also drove us to the wedding venue. If you find that normal, how about the fact that when I asked Shirley if she had an iron I could borrow to iron my shirt (since the wedding was at 2pm and check-in at the venue was not until 3pm), she said it would be just as easy for her to iron my shirt for me. I have rarely encountered such hospitality, all delivered in a warm, unassuming manner, with nothing being too much trouble. While the Castle Oaks Hotel (wedding venue) was perfectly fine, I would nonetheless recommend Rivergrove in a heartbeat if you are interested in a truly welcoming, Irish B&B experience. Thank you, Shirley and Justin!!
