Views are amazing, food is great, although the manager clearly lies about what is offer on breakfast. In a response to a review he listed all the breakfast items that were available and trust me they weren’t. Waiting staff are lovely, particularly lynn who looked after my every need. But I can’t understand why a hotel would advertise a Christian ethos and basis and the manager would loudly during morning reflections tell guests In reception that it’s not important, something silly and it’s fine to walk through in the middle of it whilst happening? I’d be interested to know if he would encourage guests to do that during other evening talks. But! Despite all that, if you like a hotel that is 20 years dated in its approach to running a business this is the place for you. Loved the location and accessibility of everything, just seriously let down by an arrogant manager.

Response from DuncanONeill, General Manager at Biarritz Hotel
Responded 27 Oct 2019
Dear N6765KXjennyp, I am horrified that you think this of me. I am not an arrogant person but I apologise if I appeared so. I have spent 23 years in building the Biarritz as a business and I feel that is reflected quite accurately in the many hundreds of 5 * reviews we received as a team. If I might explain. 'Reflections' is an important part of some guests day and I would not wish it otherwise. However, it is a very small part of what we do here, During the week you were here, the average attendance at 'Reflections' was 5 people. However, our number of guests was 42 and for those who may have a mobility issue, walking through the room in which 'Reflections' takes place is the only possible route to the dining room. Therefore no, to me it is not as important as someone accessing the breakfast area and believe me, guests walk through the room that 'Reflections' is taking place very frequently indeed and often daily. We have many varied events taking place in that same room during the evenings. Movie nights, Presentations by local experts, musical evenings, quiz nights to name but a few. However , these are light hearted non-obligatory events that guests are always encouraged to walk through. The room is not a Conference hall or a private meeting. In fact, if you consider the layout of the hotel which is far from perfect, walking through the lounge is the only way for some guests to access their bedrooms. The 6 superior balcony rooms 040 - 140 can only be reached in this manner. I am sorry that you felt so vindictive as to call me a liar. I don't tell lies. At the height of our season and at the time of writing every breakfast item I mentioned was available everyday. However I do admit to reducing some items on the very last budget week of our season in October when you chose to visit- or our 'Half price' week as we refer to it. Such things as Marmite portions had indeed run out and with days to go till our closure on 19th October it was not frugal to replace them. However, there was no hot food items missing and very few others and so I still claim to present one of the best breakfast in the island despite customers paying considerably less. Our dinner menus did not change in any form and the same splendid dinner was served on the budget week as it was in mid August. To suggest you were 'seriously let down' because someone encouraged a guest to walk through a room where a low key event of 10 minutes duration and attended by 5 people was taking place seems dramatic to say the least but you are entitles to your opinion and once again I am sorry if this offended you. Lynne will be delighted to know that you enjoyed her lovely service. As you will see from our Facebook page, Lynne was honoured to be shortlisted for the 'Newcomer of the year' award by Jersey Hospitality association just a few weeks ago. You may be interested to know that The Biarritz was awarded only this week a Silver Accolade by Quality In Tourism for it outstanding levels of Hospitality. In summary, I am sincerely sorry you felt let down or that you felt my actions incorrect. However, I strongly feel that you have misjudged me. If you would like to contact me on duncan@biarritzhotel.co.uk I will be pleased to arrange for you to re visit us on very favourable terms so that you might give us another chance to exceed your expectations in all areas .

A well run hotel with friendly but efficient staff. Good food well presented with interesting choices. Entertainment most nights with optional prayers in the morning. Two sun terraces with stunning views and steps down to the beach. Reception staff very helpful with bus times with bus stops right outside the hotel. A well maintained establishment with a high standard of cleanliness.

We spent a lovely week at the Biarittz in September. Wonderful sea views from our room, the lounge and dining room. The staff were very friendly and helpful and made us so welcome. The food was delicious with a varied menu and every where was spotless. We will certainly go back and highly recommend the Biarritz.
