Detailed Reviews
My family and I stayed at Samares Manor recently and we couldn't have asked for more. The accommodation was lovely, the grounds superb, the staff extremely helpful and of course resident dog Lilly stole the show with our young children.
Both the beach and M&S store are about 10-15mins walk away and with the bus stop outside, it was super easy to get into town.
Thoroughly recommend if you want a place with literally acres of space yet an easy walk to the beach.

We visited for a week at the end of April and stayed in The Barn. Everything was of great quality and our mostly French party of 8 were blown away by that and the wonderful, peaceful situation in the Botanical Garden yet within easy reach of the whole island. We had everything we needed, including a generous amount of crockery and cutlery in a well equipped kitchen. The cafe was great, the garden stunning and the people friendly and helpful. Absolutely no fault to find! Highly recommend.

Great location just outside St Helier. Quiet and peaceful place just ideal for a family who want to relax.
The Forge where we stayed was highly appointed with a new kitchen with all the facilities, excellent three bedroom accommodation ideal for six persons but would accommodate seven including an extra child
A car was a nice thing to have but not essential if bus travel is acceptable. Regular bus service to St Helier and Gorey.
If you’re travelling to Jersey for the first time you will not be disappointed

As part of a gathering with family and friends, we visited the last week in August Samares Manor. Everything seemed fine, until one morning my mother who enjoyed her coffee outside the barn kindly greeted the owner ("a lady") with a chipper"good morning" Well, that woman was talking all friendly to some other guests previously but when she saw my mother, her face expression instantly went from friendly to bitter with the words she replied" You all need to keep the noise down, and I mean A LOT MORE DOWN! There are too many cars parked from your guests. And by the way, you are not welcomed here anymore" My mother who was absolutely shocked by the owners words had to digest this what she has been told. I was inside the barn and was listening to all of this. From my point of view, this was absolutely unprofessional and straight up rude considering the accommodation is not cheap and should allow people to relax. Yes, there were children present which were including the booking. If you do not wish to have children in your accommodation PLEASE advertise this, as this was not the case. So please be warned if you do have children and planning on visiting this place, you may get in trouble as we did. Last but not least which isn't an issue but worth to mention- there are horses underneath the top floor bedroom. I love animals and usually it wouldn't bother me. But the horses randomly kicking walls and gates under your bedroom which may wake you or your children up during the night. Again, I like any animals but might as well mention things like this before you book a stay.

From Vincent Obbard The Seigneur of Samares Manor By way of response, I would just like to say that there are 2 sides to every story. We are very sorry we had to take the decision to refuse your booking for next year. This was not taken lightly.

Another fantastic stay for my young family and I at the Botanic Gardens. Everything was clean and ready on arrival, couldn’t have asked for more from the team there. The fact that our young children could let of steam in the designated play area outside of normal opening hours was super bonus. The beach is a short 10min walk away and Waitrose is about 20-25mins walk; plus there’s a bus stop right at the main gate. Thanks to all there and hope to come back soon.

We stayed for a week in apartment 3 with our 1 year old. The setting is superb. Having the courtyard on the doorstep and being able to access the gardens at anytime was very special. We also enjoyed the café very much. A very enjoyable holiday. We would love to return soon!

Family went there three years and were told in our second week that we could not return for our pre booked two weeks in 2024. The lady of the manor refused to speak with my wife about this decision. If you plan on booking be advised that she is not child friendly.

+1
We have just returned from a great week in Jersey with our friends. Although it is not yet high season and there some empty cottages, we had a great stay in the Forge, a three bed cottage in the corner of the courtyard. The cottage was spacious and well equipped. We loved that we could walk around the botanic and Japanese gardens when we wanted to, although they weren’t at their best as they are still trying to recover from the bad storm late last year. It was lovely chatting to Vincent and Gilly when they attended their donkeys and horses.
Everyone was very friendly. We had a tour of the Manor and Vincent showed us his collection of old farmyard equipment and carriages. We had a good breakfast at the cafe a few times. Maria was good fun and they bake great homemade cakes!
Would definitely recommend a stay. We visited in May 2024.

Just returned from our 3rd family trip to Samares Manor. Â Sad to say our latest visit was very upsetting and stressful to say the least! Â We had already prebooked the Coach House and Barn for August 2024 but were told, early into our second week, that we were not welcome to return. Reasons given were vague - children too noisy and playing in the courtyard, too many cars - we did try on several occasions to speak directly with the "Lady" of the Manor but she was not willing to do so! Â Our many family members and friends on the Island were, and still are, in total disbelief with the handling of the whole situation and the decision made.

Dear Mark, with the greatest respect we did outline the reasons which were the large amount of visitors you had after hours within the courtyard which disrupted other guests staying pretty much every evening. All of the units are in close proximity to each other, there we lots of you kicking a small rugby ball around, which led to complaints from other families.

There are many reasons for rating this 5 stars and every one of them exceed the one or two negatives that were experienced. We are used to overly lavish accommodation in England where competition is fierce and you can expect boxes of chocolates, wine and an host of other freebies. Samores Cottages are comfortable, the support staff are incredibly approachable and helpful. The cottages are immaculately clean and the owners are charming. The gardens and grounds are lovely. Look believe me it's a joy to be there.
