We have just returned from a week in the Forge. It was our second stay here and it didn't disappoint. The Forge is clean, spacious and well equipped. The manager was welcoming and provided some useful local information and recommendations. The gardens are beautiful and we certainly made use of them out of hours. The cafe is lovely. Both times we have stayed here we have found it incredibly relaxing. I highly recommend the property. I am sure we will be back.

Thank you Katiedoncaster for your lovely review. We are very lucky here to be able to offer our guests unlimited access to the beautiful grounds and of course use of the Café seven days a week. We try to offer a personal touch so it's good to hear that you found our self catering manager welcoming and providing lots of information. We look forward to seeing you again!

We have just arrived home after a stay in the Coach House which was fairly well equipped, comfortable and in a lovely setting. On arrival we were greeted warmly and shown around. Anything we didn’t have or found broken was dealt with quickly. We did find on several occasions as did the last reviewer that the disturbance late at night was an annoyance so obviously this hasn’t been reviewed. Also through no fault of his own we had the painter working in the courtyard and on several occasions was working on the Coach House whilst we were still there. Hence we sometimes felt the need to go out earlier than expected. Anyone thinking of staying at Samares will have a lovely stay but bear in mind the courtyard is also used by visitors from 9.30am who sometimes use the picnic tables

Thank you for taking the time to review our self catering accommodation, we are really pleased you found the Coach house comfortable and surroundings lovely. The weather really does help, it certainly had not been good painting weather here in early spring which is why the painter is having to work whilst our guests are staying, no not ideal but necessary. Situated within the Victorian courtyard is the Agricultural museum which is popular with visitors on the twice daily morning and afternoon tours. Also housed is the Seigneurs horses, donkeys and mule. We will look into why the courtyard lighting stays on, it is on a sensor ,and look at the option of blackout blinds.

We stayed in the barn, which has 4 lovely bedrooms and a kitchen/diner/living space. The buildings are beautiful and the kitchen was well stocked. A cot was provided for our toddler. They also very kindly provided storage for bikes. The house was very clean, and the beds were ok. There is a washing machine and dishwasher. The gardens are stunning and it was lovely to see work being done on them ready for spring. The little visitors centre shop is gorgeous, and the carriages tour is well worth doing. However their customer service could do with improvements. We arrived late afternoon to find that the heating had not been switched on (all winter it seemed!) so the house was freezing. The lady manager simply blamed the cleaner. We asked if a can opener could be provided as this

Thank you for your very positive comments about your accommodation, the gardens, the gift shop and museum tour. Regarding the customer service we take on board your comments as we always strive to provide the very best service we can to our guests. Unfortunately, the weather has not been on anyone’s side recently hence The Barn, which is a particularly large property, may not have been as warm as we would normally expect at this time of year. All the properties are very traditional granite buildings which form part of the Victorian courtyard where the Seigneur’s horse, donkey and mule stables are located. The animals are an important part of the family at the Manor and add to its quirkiness (!) - guests are usually more than happy to accommodate them as part of their holiday. We will endeavour to ensure, however that guests are not disturbed late at night.

We stayed in a 3 bedroom cottage, The Coach House, in the stables courtyard of Samares Manor for a week and can't wait to make a return visit. There are several buildings in the courtyard which have been converted to holiday lets but there are still stables housing horses and donkeys, a building with working carts and carriages on display. The old bake house is open to view complete with brick built oven and other buildings are made into a museum of farming through the ages. You wake up to birdsong and in the evenings you have the complete estate and botanic gardens to wander through when the day visitors have gone. It is really magical to wander through the Japanese garden, the arboretum, the herb gardens and nectar gardens. The only sounds are the songs of birds and the hum

We stayed at Apartment 1 Samares Manor for a week whilst moving house. The accommodation is very well appointed and equipped, there was nothing to want for, we could have even made muffins if we had the time. The location is great with horses and donkeys in close proximity along with the beautiful gardens and the restaurant for fantastic meals or afternoon tea. We don't want leave. Free wifi, along with a well stocked cupboard of books. Plenty of parking and free entry to the gardens and tour of the Manor House was an added bonus.
