Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

An immaculately clean hotel with a very warm welcome. Stayed for four nights in a very comfortable single room. Ensuite bathroom was plenty big enough and spotless. Daily cleaning service kept the room in top class condition. Breakfast was continental in style and fresh with a good range of choice. There were additional items which could be ordered in addition. I didn't use any of the other facilities, so cannot comment, however they seemed plentiful: gym, spa, swimming pool, wellness centre... Approximately 15 minute walk (I walk quite fast) into St Helier to the main street/20 mins to Liberation Square and the central bus station from where you may catch a bus to many of the key sites on the Island.

Hotel's Favourite
Just returned from a weeks holiday, staying at the Hotel De France Based on previous reviews we booked a Spa Room, which it turns out is in the newer part of the hotel Large spacious and very comfortable room, with a large floor to ceiling window and a large patio door giving access to an outside balcony Hotel itself was immaculate and very comfortable, with everything you need to enjoy a relaxing stay Breakfast was “continental” although hot food was available and other options could be ordered for an additional cost The food was delicious and plentiful, enough to set us up for the day We did also dine at the hotel on a BBQ night, and it was one of the best meals we had throughout the week in Jersey The walk into town took around 10/15 minutes and was actually quite pleasant, through the Millenium park and past some lovely independent shops and cafes, so don’t let it put you off If we return to Jersey, we would certainly stay at this hotel, and would highly recommend it to anyone else

On the website this hotel looks really impressive and almost regal and one expects to experience pretty much the lap of luxury. What a disappointment then to arrive and find that the hotel is covered in scaffolding and is hidden away behind an office block and can't even be seen from the road. On entering the hotel, nothing really improves. The decor is extremely dated and actually rather depressing, everything is painted a drab magnolia and the furniture clearly hasn't been replaced since about 1980 (at the latest!). It is like walking into a set from an Eastern European Cold War movie. The lady on reception was very welcoming however, and efficient. Our room was spacious and clean but like everything else was painted in drab beige and with square boxy furniture and virtually no amenities at all; no air conditioning, no iron, no fridge, no mini-bar, no charging points or USB points. The windows have an opaque film on them which prevents you from looking outside - quite bizarre - perhaps another throwback to 1970s East Germany? Perhaps they don't want you to spot the Stasi lurking in the garden? The bar extends the Cold War vibe, although they do do fab cocktails. The spa is nice and we had a great massage. I can only assume that the spa is what keeps this relic from another era going. Breakfast was OK'ish, although the hot spread was poor quality. The continental breakfast consisted of tiny plastic dishes with either two miniscule slices of dried out cold meat (rather resembling MDF) or else a couple of slivers of dried out cheese. Very uninspiring. The hotel is about a 15-20 minute walk into the town centre and there is a very steep hill up to the hotel from the main road - this would present a real problem for anyone with mobility issues. We definitely will not be returning, although would probably use the spa again, in the unlikely even that we ever find ourselves in Jersey on a rainy Tuesday afternoon, in mid-winter, with nothing else to do.

We have just had another most fabulous overnight stay, including the 7 course taster menu. We love the spa room, for the large space, including bathroom, balcony overlooking St Helier. Having access to the spa facilities make this a favourite for us and has everything you need. We usually have a treatment, but booked last minute, so have an excuse to do that another time. We were looking forward to the 7 course taster menu, which did not disappoint. Flavours, presentation and we were too full for the final course. Service was excellent and the staff showed so much passion for giving great service. We can't wait to come back.

What a fantastic couple of nights away 😀staff were absolutely amazing, hotel gorgeous. The customer service was outstanding, particularly Emily in the bar/restaurant who went out of her way to ensure we had a great time. The team could not do enough for us. So many good things to say in probably don’t have enough space to write. Would highly recommend the Taste of Jersey tasting menu (as recommended to us by the wonderful Emily), everything was fantastic, fresh and delicious, and absolutely worth the money 👍, cocktails are delicious, the views from the balcony rooms are stunning 🤩 although it says its 20-25 minute walk into St Helier town, its a nice easy stroll, the facilities are fantastic, but for us, the customer service from all the team (reception, cleaning staff, bar/restaurant staff, especially Emily) absolutely made our stay so special. Thank you all so much 😃

I didn’t stay at the hotel, I was residing at a nearby establishment but as the bar and restaurant where I was staying looked underwhelming I decided to see what The Hotel de France had to offer. The hotel itself is very nicely decorated, and pleasant. On entering the reception area you go up a wooden staircase and along a long corridor until you reach the bar. The selection of liquor and beers is very good and there is a decent wine list. For dinner I chose the homemade gravalax, the ballotine of chicken, and the jersey black butter pudding and all three were delicious. Service throughout was attentive. Overall a top notch meal.

Our group of 6 Arrived late and were very hungry. The reception desk telephoned the bar to say that we had just arrived and would be needing something to eat. Bar staff very welcoming and we were suitably looked after . Room was very clean and had large picture windows that opened fully should you need ventilation. The room was not very warm on entering but I found out that heating came on in daytime and went off around 11pm. Old fashioned shower curtain in bathroom. Plenty fresh towels and toiletries were provided. Breakfast room very modern. Everything you would expect. Our group paid for the full breakfast each day. There was only one coffee machine available which did cause a queue at the busy weekend . Grateful thanks to Ethan at the breakfast /bar for his patience and excellent service with a smile. The leisure centre was really a great surprise. Large pools , hot and cold plunge pools , steam room etc. most impressed. The Hotel is set back from St Helier but as long as you know the route into town it’s a pleasant walk. Our group had a fantastic weekend. Thanks to all who made us feel welcome.

Lovely hotel, nice and quiet being January. Comfy spacious room. Good in house facilities. The breakfast and dinner is lovely lots of choice for hot or cold breakfast. The menu is very limited if you have dinner on half board however. The spa and indoor pool are really nice, and the treatments offered are tremendous, it's nice to have a spa day!! Staff are helpful and accessible, not silver service as far as dining is concerned it depends who's on at the time. It's an easy walk to St helier where there's lots of shops and things to do. Room was cleaned nicely every day and restocked. Did have to go and buy some satchets of hot chocolate for the room however. There is no fridge or water in the room which I would expect for a four star hotel. Mattress not the most comfy and probably needs replacing soon. But all in all I will come back here nice and reliable hotel.

Hotel a bit dated but rooms very clean .. only had breakfast there on our stay and that was very nice .. bit of an uphill walk from bus stop .. ok if you get a taxi back from the town ..we went to the town or went on the bus on various days out.. on hindsight I should have booked down by the waterfront .. better deals to be had .. The hotel room did not have a fridge .. my friend had medicine which needed one .. but one was placed on our room on request .. Staff very nice and friendly..
