The Ommaroo Hotel is ideally situated for a sea view and walks, 10 minutes from St Helier centre and amenities, museums etc. and just 15 mins from the airport. On arrival We received a warm welcome on arrival and were quickly checked in and shown to our room. The room was comfy and roomy with an en-suite bathroom with a very good shower. Breakfast has an excellent choice of cooked or continental fare. The service was outstanding from a very friendly team. We will be returning to Jersey next year and will definitely stay at the Ommaroo. Evening meals were taken in the Coastal Bar and Bistro, which served a good choice of meals for all tastes, well stocked bar and attentive staff

Hotel's Favourite
Just back from 4 days staying at the Ommaroo. Fabulous location if you enjoy swimming, being situated opposite the Victorian saltwater lido and the beach. Elegant from the outside, with plenty of period features on the inside and quiet corners to hang out - but without being dated (loved the simple decor in my room). Smart bar and reception area, airy dining room for breakfast, and pocket sized swimming pool for young families. Service was second to none -professional, friendly reception/dining room staff and room was serviced daily. Got a split level room, and unfortunately, tired and pleased to get to my room on arrival I went flying off the upper level and crashed into the lower level. No damage done (to me or the room), but maybe some delineation between the 2 levels/verbal warning at reception might be an idea. It's not cheap but I'd rather pay a little more and get this quality accommodation, as it really made the holiday

The Omarroo Hotel and their staff could not have done more to make our weekend any more special. A family 80th birthday celebration, we were 19 in total. The birthday dinner on Saturday was excellent, our room with a view and balcony was extremely clean and comfortable. The manager went above and beyond in allowing all 19 of us to take over the lounge to watch the rugby. Food - excellent, bedrooms - comfortable, staff - extremely friendly and helpful and the icing on the cake - we were able to brush up our Swahili with the Kenyan staff. We WILL be back and Thank you, Asante Dana

We stayed the weekend in Ommaroo to celebrate a family celebration. We were 5 families and the hotel could not have been better. From the amazing pre-planning. The super quick check in. The most amazing service (consistently!), fabulous breakfast & delicious celebratory dinner. Everyone in the hotel was so friendly but also couldn’t have been more accommodating! We all want to go back!

Hotel - overlooking the beach, had a rear view room above the car park it was nice and quiet at night not sure if there would be a lot of road noise at the front. Lovely modern bar area and restaurant for evening meal at the front of the hotel. Buffet breakfast served in a larger room at the rear of the hotel - huge room with high ceilings and a more traditional feel to it. Loved that the cereals were well know brands in small separate boxes - hate when hotels serve up cheap tasteless cereals from a cash & carry. The usual hot food is stored in servers - sausages, bacon, eggs, hash browns etc - unfortunately for us they were almost empty most of the mornings we went for breakfast around 9.15 and did not appear to be refilled quickly - waited 30 mins for bacon to appear one morning. Staff - really friendly and helpful, big shout out to Tracy who went out of her way to remember where we were visiting the day before and ask us next day how our trips went. Location - right in front of the beach overlooking the Lido. 10-15 mins walk into St Helier town centre. There is a road tunnel with pedestrian access you can use which speeds the walk up but very noisy and busy - maybe not for the faint hearted and not picturesque! Good hotel - well worth a visit,

Being local we had driven past this hotel for years and wondered what lay behind the Gothic architecture. You must go to the hotel bearing in mind the amazing history that it was designed by Adolphus Curry, famous 19th century Jersey architect. It is a Victoria seaside hotel complete with mahogany bannisters and the most amazing wrought iron work. We booked a see view room on first floor which was nicely decorated in a seaside style. It was very clean and not a speck of anything anywhere. The bathroom was comfortable and it has to be the best loo with a view in Jersey! We were aware that the traffic would be noisy at rush hours and during the summer a steady rumble all day. After 6 p.m. this dies down till the following morning at about 6.30 a.m. The hotel is well located on the the No. 1 bus route to the east of the Island from where other busses can be picked up at Gorey. It is a ten minute walk from town and would, I imagine, be a lovely place to stay around Christmas. Staff friendly, loved the self service breakfast. Only problem was that being gluten intolerant the chef had to accommodate my requirements which he did very well. All in all a good stay but please be aware it is an architectural heritage building.

One of a few buildings on the island, designed by Adolphus Curry which can still be admired. I was pleased to hear that your dietary requirements were looked after, I will pass this on to the kitchen team. Thank you again for your kind comments Warm regards

First time on Jersey. So delighted with Ommaroo hotel. Really friendly staff from the first moment and that co tinued all week. Perfect sized room for two, lovely big bed and good sized bathroom - spotlessly clean every day. A wonderful bar area with a bar double bay window overlooking the bay meant that wherever we had a drink there it just felt so relaxing a d wonderful, especially watching the sun go down. Terrific breakfast range- cooked, continental and loads of cereal options. Evening meal one night and it was delicious and good value, well almost, a bottle of still water on each table with £2.75 price ticket in tiny writing on it!!! Reception staff where friendly and really helpful. Defined recommend and will definitely return. Thank you Ommaroo staff for a lovely stay :)

Cool hotel with a great breakfast. Service was friendly and helpful. Room was basic, but really pretty and spotlessly clean. I liked the toiletries they provided. All attached to the wall, but smelled lovely! I had a gorgeous balcony facing the beach... Which leads to the biggest problem...this hotel does not have air conditioning, which I knew before booking. I thought I could deal with it, but not going to do this again. There is a desk fan provided, but it was stifling in the room and the fan didn't do much to counteract that. We were there when they were having a street festival so it was loud and crowded, but it got silent when they promised at 10pm! It was fun, as the hotel gave us wrist bands to go for free (they kind of have to, since the hotel is located on the closed off street). But it also meant that I wasn't going to leave my balcony doors wide open in the evening to try to cool down once it got dark because people could see in (I was on the 1st floor - or second to us Americans). Still would have taken hours to cool down - but I could try to convince myself that it was working faster haha. It's an easy 15ish minute walk to the Harbor. I would recommend this hotel - but only in the Spring, Fall or Winter. OR if you really don't care about being hot. I'm not talking about being warm. I'm talking about not enjoying waking up soaking wet because you sweat so much, it feels like someone dumped a bucket of water on you and in bed. Intense heat doesn't seem to bother any of my European friends, but I think most of my American friends would really struggle here. 100% would stay here again in a different season...just not in summer.

Dear avertie, thank you for having taken the time and trouble to post your guest comment. We are please to hear that you enjoyed your stay and liked the breakfast, service, bedroom and all the amenities. Looking back at the summer I noticed you did arrive during the hottest week of the year and temperatures were well above the Jersey average. In general there is no need for air-condition and the temperature in our rooms remain at a suitable level. I trust you will return to Jersey in future and I hope you will be our guests again here at The Ommaroo Hotel. With warmest regards and thank you for staying with us.

We loved our stay at the Ommaroo Hotel, the location was wonderful, opposite the beach and lido and a short walk to the town centre, with bus stops right outside. The staff were helpful and friendly. The family room was perfect with a very modern bathroom. The kids found the lido too cold so we ended up in the swimming pool at the hotel most days which was perfect for kids. The breakfasts were lovely with a good choice and the hot buffet was properly cooked which can be rare in hotels. We enjoyed an evening meal one evening and the food was excellent and the adult meals were priced appropriately. The kids meals however were £15pp for two courses (chips/goujons/sausages) + ice cream tub which made the meal the most expensive we had all week and meant we only ate there once. £22pp for kids for the Friday feast we felt was also too expensive for 6-year-olds. There is however a lovely selection of restaurants close by so we enjoyed trying a different one each evening. We would definitely consider staying again if we return to Jersey.

Dear BelfastRuth I want to thank you for your review of The Ommaroo Hotel following your recent visit to our hotel. It is wonderful to hear that you and your family loved your stay with us and the kids enjoyed the pool as much as the breakfast choices. I was sorry to hear that you found the children's menu too expensive which meant you only had one meal in the hotel. Certainly something we will consider and work on hard for the next season to make our dining option more attractive for everybody. Thank you and we hope we will see you again next year. Kind regards
