The Ommaroo Hotel garners accolades for its warm staff and enviable location, a stone's throw from beaches, shops, and eateries. While some guests describe the rooms as basic, many appreciate their cleanliness and spaciousness, with the bonus of sea views.
The varied breakfast and live music are highlights, although opinions on the atmosphere are mixed. Despite the praise for amenities, noise insulation and the cost of certain extras, such as sea view rooms and parking, are points of contention for those seeking value.

My trip had been delayed twice due to travel restrictions and I was so looking forward to actually getting to visit. The Ommaroo Hotel is in a lovely position and, as some of the other reviews mention, it has a certain grandeur reminiscent of times past. The rooms were spotlessly clean and the bedding and towels are good quality. Shower gel and handwash are supplied in refillable bottles which is great to see. The breakfasts had a wide range of options. The cooked buffet breakfast was the same each day but the eggs were impressively fried, which is tricky in a buffet, and the sausages were some of the best I have eaten in a hotel. The coffee was a little doubtful, but that may have been just my taste. I had a lovely dinner in the conservatory one evening, the menu was comprehensive with a wide variety of choices. Any issues were dealt with promptly and I would certainly stay again when in Jersey. Special thanks to Joanna, one of the Managers and Chris in the restaurant for looking after me so well. It does make a difference when travelling alone.

+1
We had a lovely stay at this hotel, we had a balcony room, no 2, the view was stunning across the bay and the balcony was an amazing place to sit and watch the world go by. The lido was great at all times, swimmers in the morning and people gathering at night to jump into the sea, we spent more time than usual in our room just to enjoy the view.
The staff were great and the food too, breakfast was buffet but really nice, we ate in the restaurant twice, both times really enjoying our meal.
The staff were always available to give tourist advice, directing us to some great places along the coast, they even arranged an early breakfast when we had to leave at 06:30 for the ferry.
Some room noise was present as you’d expect booking a balcony room on a main road, however it wasn’t too bad and didn’t impact upon sleep.
Secure car parking was available and always lots of spaces
We would definitely stay here again

Had a lovely stay of 7 nights in a beautiful sea view room. This is a must if you come here, The views of the beach and lido are worth putting up with the traffic noise below. The room was very clean, tidy and decorated in a neutral style. The only criticism is one of our pet hates, the lack of any shelf space for toiletries in the bathroom, why do hotels do this?
The food was excellent. Good quality breakfast buffet regularly refreshed not sat under heat lamps. Booking for dinner is essential unless, you want to eat after 8pm when things are a bit quieter. There is a good selection on the menu with specials every night. The quality is excellent. Don't be in a rush as they give you plenty of time between courses . Dinner is served in the Bistro which is really an extension to the bar and unfortunately limits the space in the bar if you just want a drink.
The staff are very friendly and helpful, although as in most places some are still training. I must give a special mention to John who, upon our arrival, dashed to help us with our bags from our car and take them upstairs to our room. He was also very attentive throughout our stay.
In summary, next time we visit Jersey, I won't have to search for a hotel, I know exactly where we will stay

I want to thank you for your review of The Ommaroo Hotel following your recent visit to our hotel. It is wonderful to hear that you thought so much of your room, the food as well as the service that you have received from our team, particular from John. Moving forward we will look at the shelving in our bathrooms and hope to make some improvements in future. Thank you again and we cannot wait to welcoming you back again in the future. Having paid extra for a sea view room with balcony, We sent an email a week before arriving requesting a room on a higher floor hoping it would be quieter, we repeated this request when completing the pre check in form, imagine our disappointment on arriving to find we were on the first floor without a sea view but instead ‘sea facing’ which meant facing the sea but with a building in front of us, you could see the sea if you stood sideways on the side of the balcony. When we expressed dissatisfaction with reception we were told that rooms are allocated on a first come first served basis and nothing could be done. On checking the room we found there was no key to the balcony door, it couldn’t be locked and could be accessed by climbing up the balcony below. The safe didn’t work, when we reported this and the receptionist came to fix the safe we asked for a key to the balcony door- she just shrugged and said just bang the door to close it - not secure and we were uneasy the whole stay. It was warm during our stay and there’s no air on so we wanted to sleep with windows open, but due to the location so near the main road the traffic noise was very intrusive, even with the windows closed the traffic noise woke us at 7 every morning. During our stay we booked a specific sea view table for an evening meal and arrived to find the bistro empty apart from (yes you guessed) the table we had requested. These issues did detract from our holiday as well as the impression we got from most of the staff that they weren’t bothered.. (except Tracy who worked hard to meet everyone’s needs) on a positive note, the breakfasts were good, the room was spotlessly clean and supplies restocked generously every day. Parking was easy and free as we booked directly with the hotel.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review on Tripadvisor following your stay with us earlier this month. Your constructive feedback is very valuable as we continue to strive in improving both our product and service. Please accept our apologies that the room allocation wasn't what you expected. I am surprised to read about the attitude of one of our staff members you described which is rather unusual and something we will work on with the team. Customer service and friendliness is something we pride ourselves her at The Ommaroo Hotel. I am equally pleased to hear your praise for Tracy our restaurant supervisor. We hope that you will deem this experience as a one off and give us another opportunity to redeem ourselves. We look forward to welcoming you back soon again. Yours sincerely,

mid range with some disappointments
room is reasonable (small) and clean, with a comfy bed,
house keepers do a reasonable job, although on 2-3 occasions they have left random
things behind like bus passes or dirty clothes.
Internet works but is extreamly poor. only able to play a YouTube video on one of the lowest
possible settings
breakfast was great until they moved it into the giant hall with 3 people eating there
it went from a beautifully presented piping hot breakfast served with a smile and a great sea view.
To be being "self serve" by yourself from Chafing Dishes, which have been half empty on both the occasions. iv had chance to get breakfast. Most of the food was tepid apart from my tea and hash browns, very disappointing.

Dear chocolatewrights, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review on TripAdvisor following your stay at our hotel last week. Your constructive feedback is very valuable as we continue to strive in improving both our product and service. Please accept our apologies for the experience you had with the Wi-Fi and the changeover in breakfast venues during your stay. It was disappointing to read about the Wi-Fi reception in your room, something we will investigate further. As you may remember, we do offer a premium Wi-Fi which is available for a small extra charge and provides a much faster speed suitable for streaming, you tube or videos. Thank you for highlighting your breakfast experience. Every year around Easter time we do have to move our breakfast service into Palmer’s Restaurant to be able to accommodate all visitors to the hotel and get ready for the high season. Our Coast Bistro has a rather small capacity and unfortunately we can only serve breakfast here during the low season. We will certainly work on the points you mentioned so we can continue to offer a high quality breakfast which we are known for. We hope that you will deem this experience as a one off and give us another opportunity to redeem ourselves in future. We look forward to welcoming you back soon again. Yours sincerely,

Paid for balcony sea view room for 5 nights, we were given room 33 which is slightly above street level. Unable to sit on the balcony without constant traffic noise and unable to enjoy a sea view without it being constantly obscured by passing traffic which was non stop. Our balcony was also overlooked by the bar and flood lit in the evening. Absolutely no privacy. Although chkd in early we were told no other rooms available for duration of our stay. Couldn’t even check out immediately without facing a cancellation fee of nearly £200. Room was hot and unable to have windows open due to noise day and night. Fans were provided on request. Had to draw curtains to block out the stressful view of cars wizzing past in both directions all the time. In effect we paid extra to sit in a room with the windows closed and curtains pulled. Should’ve known this hotel was not as it seemed when they denied the offer advertised on their homepage of dinner on first night and free bottle of wine when book 5 nights instead of 4. Turns out it is a time specific offer that is not stated during the booking process and is hidden in T&Cs. Oh and the Lido opposite is very noisy at night with music blaring out that could be heard over the top of out tv in the evening til gone 2300. Would NEVER stay here again and would only recommend to people who like to holiday at the side of a road. And one more thing ….although hotel has lifts (which would lead you to believe good for elderly or those with limited mobility) you have to climb a flight of wooden stairs to enter from the car park!

Dear Northstar463480 Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry you felt disappointed with the room allocation during your visit last week. You have been in touch with management at the time and agreed on a solution. Being situated on a beach road of the island, unfortunatly there will always be a little noise from the traffic going past the hotel. Thank you and kind regards

Hotel in a great location right on the beachfront opposite the Lido, which was ideal for us as we like swimming in the sea and we only had to nip back across the road to have a shower and get changed.
Easy walk into town in about 15 minutes, or you can hire electric bikes from the road outside, the bus also stops on the road directly outside the hotel to travel in either direction east to west.
Couldn’t fault the staff at the hotel from those helping check-in to the serving staff and the hotel manager.
Our room was on the ground floor with a Seaview, sadly I was told before we booked that there wasn’t much noise from the road outside but that turned out to be quite different on arrival.
As it was very hot we couldn’t sleep with the windows open because of the noise but the hotel were happy to provide us with a fan. I would recommend either sacrificing the Seaview or booking a room higher up.
Was a shame as we got engaged and it was a special occasion.
The room was comfortable, nice clean towels, good working hot shower over the bath, everything we needed and we weren’t disturbed by any other guests.
Breakfast, was basic but enough. Thought it was a bit strange that there was no toast available unless you asked, we didn’t realise this so we didn’t have any on the first day! Nice big dining room though and plenty of staff to serve so no queueing.
The pool was very small so we didn’t bother but with a CY over the road why would you? There were plenty of seating in the garden areas if you just wanted to sit somewhere quiet and chillout though.
Just for reference most restaurants in and around the area or shut on a Monday and some on a Tuesday.
So you will need to eat in the hotel restaurant or go to nearby Saint Helier there isn’t much choice open their either but worth a try.

The Ommaroo is a great, characterful hotel in a wonderful position right on the seafront. Because of its history and originally being three houses, it has a great deal of “character” which some people seem to find difficult, in that it is full of little ups and downs and cosy little corners.
We stayed for the week and enjoyed every minute of our stay. The rooms are comfortable, if simply furnished, the beds are excellent and the breakfasts very good, with the usual choices always available freshly cooked in small batches so it is always hot and fresh. We only sampled the one dinner, which we enjoyed very much, but the menu is currently somewhat restricted due to the Covid/staffing situation that all hospitality businesses are struggling with, so we dined elsewhere on the other evenings.
The staff are all very friendly and helpful.
The hotel is very well placed for two short and pleasant walks into the centre of St Helier and/or the bus station, for the excellent bus service all over the island.

Me and my wife stayed here for a week arriving on the 11th July. From the first point of contact at reception, we were made to feel like favourite family staying rather than an anonymous guest. All staff were so welcoming. We had a beautiful balcony sea view room and we never tired of the view in the morning whilst sipping a coffee on the balcony.
Next stop was to go downstairs for an awesome breakfast served most days by the lovely Tracy. One of the best full English's ever!!! Nothing was to much trouble for Tracy and she was also a great help in telling us about the hidden nocks of the island to visit during the day.
We had dinner a couple of times at the hotel during our weeks stay and we were impressed. We even met the chef Julian a few times and he was an absolute font of knowledge of everything food! Normally, I'm pretty keen to go home after a week away but in the case of out stay the Ommaroo, I was sad to hand my key fob over at reception to go home at the end of the week.
All in all, we can thoroughly recommend a stay at the Ommaroo. You won't be disappointed!!!

Yes there was 😊
Hi David,
our double/twin rooms can be used as both and you can mention it under comments when you make a booking and we will prepare the room accordingly.
White Horse, excellent food, 5 mins stroll away. A few doors up is a delightful Greek restaurant De L’Etang.
There are taxis outside but you could easily get a bus which will stop very close to the Oomaroo
