Lovely experience from check in to check out. Shout out to Edgar who was welcoming and professional when we arrived and left. We stayed in one of the platinum double rooms (401) which overlooked Weighbridge place and harbour. At night lights really pretty. The room was on the end of the building so only was joined onto one other balcony. Well worth the upgrade! Room itself was of a good size and comfortable. Came with a safe, dressing gowns and coffee-machine - would have liked to have more than two pods. Bathroom had underfloor heating and a walk in shower and separate bath. We had breakfast in the room (£10 tray charge). Was well worth it! Excellent breakfast nicely presented. Would definitely love to stay here again although would not eat in Hotel restaurants which in my opinion are overpriced.

My husband and I have just returned from a trip to Jersey staying for the first time in the Royal Yacht hotel. Having visited Jersey on 14 different occasions this was our worst ever visit. Our first choice hotel will always be the Pom D’Or but unfortunately we could not get in so thought we would try the Royal Yacht. Never ever again. We arrived on the afternoon of the 14 October at the hotel and told our room was not ready. I answered ok we will wait. There are only 4 armchairs in reception so no where really to sit and wait and we not advised where in fact we could wait. Within 5 minutes we were told that the room was in fact ready. The receptionist gave us a map of the hotel explained things far too fast and we could not understand really what he was saying. We were not asked if we needed help getting to our room so I struggled on my own with one case and 2 hand luggage bags ( my husband is disabled with Parkinson’s so cannot help me) We got to the room let ourselves in and the room was quite dark. We were facing a wall with other windows from other rooms. We had not been told to place the door key in the mechanism on the wall we had to work that out for ourselves! After unpacking we went out for a meal came back a couple of hours later went to the room. My husband’s condition requires that he rests several times a day. We were met with a serious level of very loud noise from what I can only describe as some kind of disco!!! The noise did not stop until 1.45 am that was when we got to go to sleep. On Sunday morning I went to reception to check if that noise was every night. “Oh no madam only Friday and Saturday “. I wasn’t asked why or what was the problem then just ignored as he passed on to someone else. There was no hand rails in the shower so I had to assist my disabled husband every morning. The towels were so small they were more like hand towels. Our room was made up twice across the whole week. When we went out each morning there were room staff in the corridor and I asked very politely can you make our room up whilst we are out? On 3 occasions it was never done and on the Friday there was a knock on the door at 15.45 asking if she could tidy the room!! I said no as my husband was sleeping. Food was incredibly expensive in the grill restaurant, we tried to find the cabin restaurant but even the staff directed us wrongly. We thought we would try the Zephyr restaurant. The bar area was heaving with business people and the noise was horrendous. We went to the inside part shown to a table and a waiter came and gave us the menu. She asked would we like some water whilst we look at the menu I said yes please and she brought us a bottle of water. After looking at the menu we saw that every meal included chilli in some form or another. We do not eat chilli or spices so I said to my husband let’s go elsewhere. We said to the waiter that unfortunately there was nothing on the menu that suited us and we got up to leave. Because she had opened the bottle of water she said I owed £4 !!! I paid and walked out. OMG £4 for a bottle of water. She should have asked me tap or a bottle surely. It is safe to say we will never stay at the Royal Yacht ever again or recommend it to anyone. We will however stay at the Pom D’Or every time we go to Jersey.

Our overall experience here was of quality and friendly customer service. On arrival we noted that the reception staff were attentive and explained in detail the Hotel’s facilities. We were too early for check in so they took our bags and arranged for them to be put into the room. When we did get into the room, it was clean and well appointed, with a genuine feel of being in a yacht cabin. There was tea, coffee and biscuits and a mini bar available. The bed was comfortable, as were the chairs. The balcony was pleasant; the only down side being the very very limited view of the harbour - rather than the Museum roof. Our only other problem with the room was the sliding door into the bathroom. It was so stiff that it was almost immovable for me and completely impossible for my wife to open or close. On the first morning, I informed the lady in charge of the housekeeping but sadly nothing was done about it. We booked breakfast as part of the package. Generally this was good given that it was a buffet. The food all seemed to be good quality and consisted of sausages, bacon, mushrooms, beans and hash browns. Eggs were prepared to order, which was a nice fresh touch. Continental breakfast was also an option, as was fresh fruit and curds, yoghurts etc. unfortunately, on the second morning I decided to try the Jersey curd to start: it tasted ok but as I finished it I noticed that the use by date was 6 days out of date!!! I informed the restaurant Manager who told me he would be writing a report about it. Needless to say I left the curds out for the remainder of our stay. Only other quibble was that on the last 2 mornings we had to ask for fresh toast as on both it was stone cold. On a lighter note, we tried their grill restaurant and have to say that everything was first rate. We had Jersey oysters with vinegar, onions and tobasco - fresh ad utterly delicious. My wife had lamb chops and jersey potatoes for main and I had Caesar salad with chilli king prawns on the side. Again, all fresh and well presented and, with a bottle of wine and drinks, was really good value. We both agree that we would go to the Royal Yacht again. Thanks to all the staff for their welcome and friendliness.

I've been a regular visitor to The Royal Yacht for many years now, and as you can see from my previous reviews have always been really impressed by the hotel and its co-located bars and restaurants. Unfortunately, after my latest visit I don't feel that I will be returning. The rooms have comfortable beds, AC, and wide-screen TVs, but they feel stuck in the 90's and are now a little tired for the premium price charged. Food wise, previously I would have said there is no need to venture further as the hotel has a selection of excellent restaurants on site. The restaurants are still there but even since my previous visits at the start of the year have raised their price to the point it no longer feels value for money (now approx £15 starter, £30 main). Service is another pain point. We found across the hotel the service a let down. Lengthy waits to place an order, similar long time to get what you've ordered (35mins for a cup of tea in deserted cafe zephyr), not checking if your food order is edible, to dismissive reception staff. All little things, but coupled together along with a previous knowledge of what the hotel was, makes for a very disappointing stay.

I have to start by saying Jersey is wonderful, the people, the food and the weather was particularly lovely for October. There was no hot water for the full four nights, 5 days days we stayed. No fault of the hotel as the gas was off on the whole island. We have stayed on Jersey 6 times and previously stayed in a brilliant hotel very close to this one. We chose the Royal Yacht for a change as it always seemed get favourable reviews. We chose a Gold Double room for a birthday we celebrated whilst there, expecting something special. We were shown to room 213 and it was very dark, we had to have lights on when in the room. See photos of the view from the balcony. A huge wall towered above leaving a small gap to peer out. The room was kitted out for disabled travellers which we are not, the bathroom had all the aids, assistance bars round the toilet and over bath, alarm pulls etc. unless of course they are all the same? We were offered alternative rooms, that were no better. Apart from one which was overlooked and no different, same size and they wanted an extra £80 for the privilege, so we declined. The room itself was kept clean, and the breakfast and service was very good. Room was very hot at night and the air conditioning unit was noisy and not very effective. Also boiling the kettle for hot water to wash, tripped the electrics, which, to be fair was fixed quickly. Just dissapointed that the hotel made no attempt to cater for guests to perhaps go somewhere for a hot shower. Or perhaps a little gesture of a free drink or any other small good will gesture to compensate for the lack of comfort, which we had paid for. Sorry to say but will not return to The Royal Yacht for accommodation and will stay at our previous choice of hotel for future visits to Jersey.

Subject: Disappointing Experience Due to Lack of hot water and Unfulfilled Requests Dear Royal Yacht Hotel Management Team, I hope this email finds you well. I am writing to express my deep disappointment with my recent stay at The Royal Yacht Hotel, which took place from 7/8 October 2023. While I understand that certain circumstances can be beyond your control, I believe that there were opportunities for the hotel to make our experience more tolerable, which regrettably were not acted upon. Moreover, I would like to bring to your attention two additional issues that further impacted our stay. Firstly, upon check-in, I requested a fan for our room due to personal preference and comfort. This request was acknowledged but not fulfilled during our stay. It is disheartening when a guest's requests are acknowledged but not followed through, as it implies a lack of attention to detail and customer service. Secondly, I had emailed the hotel a few days prior to our arrival, specifically requesting separate beds in our room to ensure a comfortable stay for both myself and my companion. Unfortunately, this request was also ignored, and we were provided with a room that did not meet our specified needs. This oversight created additional inconvenience during our stay. I understand that the gas problem on the island was beyond the hotel's control, and I appreciate your explanation for the lack of hot water in our room and the Spa. However, it was the hotel's response to this issue, as well as the failure to address my initial request for a fan and my prior request for separate beds, that has led to my overall disappointment. I believe that, despite the external circumstances, The Royal Yacht Hotel had the opportunity to make our stay more comfortable and to demonstrate a commitment to customer satisfaction. It was disappointing to find that there was zero form of compensation offered to guests inconvenienced by the hot water issue. Even a small gesture, such as a complimentary drink or a discount at the bar/restaurant, would have gone a long way in acknowledging the inconvenience we faced. As a guest, I value the hospitality and service provided by the establishments I choose to stay in. Unfortunately, my recent experience at The Royal Yacht Hotel did not meet the standards I expected. I believe that it is crucial for businesses to demonstrate their commitment to customer satisfaction, even in challenging circumstances. I hope you understand my disappointment and take this feedback as an opportunity to improve your guest experience, especially in times when unforeseen issues may arise. I look forward to hearing from you regarding this matter and hope that you will consider addressing these concerns. Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I hope that my future experiences at The Royal Yacht Hotel will be more pleasant.

I stayed at The Royal Yacht for two nights while in Jersey for business. It's my second stay, the last being in 2012! The hotel is well located and an easy walk to everywhere in the city centre. The rooms are spacious and well-appointed. Mine had a pleasant balcony area. The decor is a little dated now but still clean and comfortable. The bar area was busy most days, but the service was good. The reception staff were outstanding and had an excellent memory for names and guests. Check-in was fantastically fast and efficient. The breakfast location, especially the outdoor area was great, as was the breakfast service and offering.

Booked this hotel as a long weekend following a family wedding. We had a platinum room with balcony overlooking the square and our family members had mid range double rooms. Reception staff were good in moving a room of one of my family members as it was way smaller than the other double room. The rooms were a little tired and dated and could do with modernising but were adequate. Pillows were very bad and I had neck ache every morning. Service was very good. Great location and base for getting around. The breakfast was not so good. The toast was always cold even when just brought out and my poached eggs were cold meaning they were pre-cooked even though the eggs are normally made to order. The bar in the evenings was a local hub but the cocktails were really bad- could not taste the alcohol at all and as I’ve had many cocktails over the years I’d say this was the worst experience. Looks like I’m not the first person to comment on this which is absolutely justified given the prices they charge. Was nice as a one-off but probably won’t come back to this hotel.

A work trip to Jersey unfortunately coincided with me having to be on a very restricted diet for medical reasons. I emailed the hotel and they were incredibly helpful - providing me with a specific breakfast, and accommodating my restricted requirements with grace. The hotel is in a great location, with good facilities, a comfortable room and a fantastic spa (available free to guests, highly-recommended!). But above all the hotel is to be congratulated for its staff - all were so helpful and friendly, I was really impressed. Thank you very much, it was noted and appreciated!
