Brilliant stay at this well run and welcoming hotel. Food was excellent throughout and complements to the chefs and kitchen staff. Of especially note were the waiting and reception staff, who were polite, professional and extremely friendly - they could not have done more to make out stay such a pleasant experience. Thank you to the Monterey and I have no problems with recommending the hotel.

We arrived about 10am after a traumatic time at the not so wonderful manchester airport. The girl on reception was very helpful and friendly and although rooms arent usually ready until afternoon it was no problem for her to get us a room ready straight away, she showed us where to go for something to eat as we arrived on a bank holiday and some places were closed, and explained the hotel to us, very good check-in. Our room a superior double was on the 3rd floor, huge comfortable bed, built in wardrobes, large flatscreen tv. bath with shower over, bathrobes and slippers provided, tea and coffee making facilities, room is quite big with plenty of floor space. The room was cleaned daily, tea, coffee, milk and toiletries replenished, and was spotlessly clean as was the rest of the hotel. We booked bed and breakfast which is served between 7am-10am, self service full english as well as cereals, croissants ect, all cooked to perfection. We decided to book a table for our evening meal on the first night, you can choose from 2 or 3 courses at a very reasonable price, it was so good that we ended up having evening meal for the duration of our 5 nights, a big thumbs up to the chef. All staff in the restaurant are a credit to the hotel, always happy and smiling and willing to have a conversation about how your day has been, Charity and Nelson are a credit to the hotel, such lovely people. We didnt use the swimming pool but it did look very nice. The bus stops right outside the hotel into St Helier or a 15-20 min walk, the bus service around the entire island is very easy. Jersey is a lovely place. We will definetley return to Jersey and to the The Monterey.

Thank you for your 5/5 review and for making special mention of members of staff who you felt gave exceptional service. We are well located only a short 10 minute walk into the shopping areas via the Millennium Town park and directions are available into town from our reception team. Thank you once again.

We spent a week at The Monterey, on a bed and breakfast basis, and really enjoyed our stay.

It is a bit of a hike from the centre, 20 - 25 minutes, and there are not many restaurants or bars close by. There is a bus which stops right outside if you don't want to walk

Our room, while a little dated, was very good. The bed was huge and very comfortable . There was an excellent shower, plenty of storage space and tea, coffee and biscuits were replenished every day

The room, and indeed the whole hotel, was kept spotless

We really enjoyed our breakfasts and there was plenty of choice, both hot and cold, and really excellent coffee

We always went out for dinner but usually had a drink or two in the bar on our return. Again good choice of beers and spirits and reasonable prices

We had a couple of swims in the outdoor pool and that was enjoyable

We spoke to many staff on our visit and all were friendly and welcoming and did a great job

Stayed for 4 nights with friends and we chose the hotel for proximity to St Helier ( 15/20 min walk) and free parking.

Initial appearance outside was good and the lobby looked classic.
Reception staff were friendly, as were the bar staff.

Our 3 rooms were simple with tea and coffee supplied and a double bed, decor was a little dated and worn.

Our room had a very unpleasant odour on arrival that would not dissipate despite having the windows open the few inches it would allow to try to get the air circulating, it was coming from the bathroom and was a stagnant damp smell, our bathroom expelair fan was not working. On the morning of day 3 we explained the issue to the receptionist and on our return later in the day the staff arranged a new room without any fuss for us and this was far superior to the one we had vacated and was without any odour, I wish we had mentioned it earlier.

The bar and dining room were modern and spacious and we enjoyed drinks here during our stay.
We ate breakfast on our last morning and it was unsurprising traditional English fayre, not our thing but was functional. If you get offered a breakfast voucher on your arrival ensure you ask them to explain what it is you have been given, we all misunderstood and paid more than expected.

The hotel does not have any air conditioning nor windows that open any great distance and this probably accounted for some stale smells in corridors and the lift, this does need addressing by the management team.

The heat in the bedrooms was also oppressive despite turning off all radiators and opening windows those few inches however it made very little difference and we had the added fun of the very loud kitchen extractor fan alarm at 7am :)

If we were to come to Jersey again I would not write off the Monterey but would definitely compare with more hotels in the area.

all the staff in this hotel are really really great they worked so hard to make sure every thing was ok the dining room staff were so polite and help full as was the reception staff any problem was sorted quickly and in a positive manner a good selection to eat and plenty of it. We had a top floor room that faced the pool(306) which was exactly as requested the bathroom was a little tight but ok once in. A shower over the bath with hot water that would take your skin off if you were not careful and a good flushing toilet. So far everything perfect but we did have a big problem, from sunrise to sunset the sun shone directly in our room even with the curtains drawn closed the heat was unbearable you could not get much fresh air because the windows only open a little bit, the weather is not the fault of the hotel and they did supply a fan to help and i don't want to put any one off from staying at this hotel just because the sun was blazing all day(after all most people want the sun to shine on holiday) we did find the position of the hotel a little way out for the sea front at our age (retired) but we was on an organised holiday with Hunts travel of Alford England and so had organised excursions included. But Hunts travel are a different kettle of fish (that i would not recommend as a travel company but that's me they don't seem to have a clock/watch when it comes to picking passengers up at the proper time full of excuses. But back to Monterey review the bar prices seem to be cheaper than pubs in St Hellier and they have a great bar man i called him boss he was from Hungary nothing was to much trouble for him. So in a nutshell all staff top to bottom excellent, weather brilliant, food very good, service great, nice clean hotel even in these difficult times it also has indoor/outdoor pools but we didn't use these what it does lack is a big outdoor area from the bar on warm evenings to sit and have a drink i would recommend this hotel for a stay as long as you know its a 20/25 minute walk to sea front but very close to grande marche supermarket (2 minutes)

We visited this hotel for the first time a week ago. We were greeted at reception by Fatima who was very helpful. Our room was on the first floor, room 200. It was very clean and was looking out onto the front street.

The restaurant was nicely set out with arrows to guide people in one direction and the tables were well spaced apart. All the staff were very friendly, Maria would oversee you to your table and Nelson, Amos and Leah served us. The two lads looked after us the magority of the time and they got used to what we liked. They were a credit to the hotel.

All in all this hotel was good to stay in, but although it was spotless it did need to be updated.

All the staff in this hotel are very helpful, attentive and efficient. Nelson and Vicktor in particular were stars. The food was top notch with an excellent choice each evening. The portion size was just right and the food was well cooked and beautifully presented. We had been upgraded to a superior room and this was well appointed and spacious. The bathroom was a good size with plenty of room in the shower cubicle. The only down side was the noise from the extraction unit which started up around 7.30 am and went on to around 10 pm. The room was very hot, however, a fan was provided which did help. The hotel was very clean and they had covid measures in place. We enjoyed using the indoor pool and there are showers and lockers available. There is also an outdoor pool which did look a little tired. There are a few sunbeds, umbrellas and tables in the small outdoor area. There is a bus stop nearby and it was about 10 to 15 minute pleasant walk into town. All in all we would thoroughly recommend this hotel and we would love to stay there again.

Booked a weeks B&B break short notice as not able to go abroad. Superior double room booked and was very spacious with all the amenities within it.

Breakfast excellent with great table service provided from Nelson and the team. Evening meals also provided with either bar snacks/meals or in their restaurants for fixed priced 1/2/3 courses. These are also very good and reasonably priced.

Indoor pool warm, outdoor pool not so but quite refreshing… small hot tub and steam room allows relaxation after long walks along the beach.

10 minute walk in to the main shopping area although a local co-op is literally round the corner.

The staff were helpful from the minute we checked in. It’s very covid safe, the staff all wear masks of face shields and seem to be cleaning if they have a minute free.
The restaurant was amazing, the food was what would be expected in a top restaurant. They adapted the menu for the children. The portions are really big. I couldn’t finish some of my meals. My husband said they were just right. The children’s meals were big too so even for older children there would still be enough food. The children loved the staff especially Amos, Tony, Maria, Leah and Nelson in the restaurant.
If you do stay here I would recommend going half board, it is really good value.
The indoor pool was lovely and warm. It’s great that they provide pool towels and there are changing rooms and showers next to the pool. We didn’t use the outdoor pool but did see some keen swimmers in there.
The family room we stayed in was big with plenty of storage. The bath was big too but filled very quickly. The shower was easy to use too. It was very clean too. The only downside is there is no safe to use which we would of liked to store our passports in. The ironing board was tiny but still practical. Everything else in the room was good.
There are bus stops outside the hotel so if you can’t walk far there is plenty of opportunities to get out and about.
I can’t understand why the hotel is only a three star. It is in the same league as most four stars I’ve stayed in. The food was better then some four stars I’ve stayed in.
Brilliant hotel and if we come back to Jersey it will br the hotel we’ll stay in. I’ve recommended it to my parents as well as they are looking to visit Jersey.
