This is a little gem of a small B&B in Saint Helier , Jersey. We spent 3 days here. The decor was lovely with floral prints and room 7 had a four poster bed. The farm house breakfast was good and the room was nice and warm. I am very glad we found this accomodation.

We booked this B & B as it was in a nice central location for the beach and town. Check in is from 12 noon but we arrived about 10 minutes early. However, this was not a problem and we were welcomed and showed to our room straight away. We were in room 5 overlooking the back of the building. Yes the rooms are a little bit small, but they are reasonably comfortable, with well stocked refreshment tray, television, clock radio, and hairdryer provided. Even though the en suite is small we were surprised at how roomy the shower cubicle is. The only problem I had was the temperature of the room. Even though the window was open all night it was quite warm in there, and we could hear the owner of the B & B talking in the evening as the private rooms were directly outside our window. There are only 6 tables in the breakfast room and you may have to wait for breakfast but this was not a problem for us. In fairness to the B & B owners we were never turned out of the breakfast room after 9am at all. In fact one morning one solo guest arrived just after 9am. The breakfasts were lovely with a self service for cereal, juice, yogurts, followed by a cooked breakfast of your choice. Sunday’s there are chocolate muffins available also. The B & B is really clean and just a short walk to the town centre (approximately 10-15 minutes), or the ferry terminal (approximately 25 minutes). We would just like to say that the maid Sophia is absolutely brilliant and extremely hardworking. If she were to ever start up her own B & B we would definitely stay there. We hope that the owners of La Bonne Vie appreciate the work that this young woman does there. We would definitely stay again but would prefer a room at the front of the building.

If walking on foot to the Marina side of town go through the tunnel. But if you want to go to the main town centre, walk through Snowhill carpark next to the tunnel as this is a bit of a shortcut.

Having just read the latest review on this guest house, improvements may well have been made since I stayed there, which was in October 2010. I was aware that the guest lounge was going to be refurbished, which is just as well, because it looked like something out of the 1950s, the only up-to-date item being the TV!
Firstly, the positives; the towels were beautifully white and fluffy (I understand that they had recently been replaced), and the bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in. The location was excellent, and Noella is a gem; if the rating had been for her, I would give her 5 stars without hesitation.
Now the negatives; When I was shown to my room, the toilet was not clean. I mentioned this and was told that a bit of bleach would sort it out. While it did indeed resolve the problem, that was not acceptable, because the toilet should have been cleaned before, not after, I had arrived. Also, the toilet brush was badly stained, and I don't think I need to be graphic here.... There were no drawers in my room, so items that could not be hung up had to go on the shelves in the wardrobe. This would not have been a problem had the shelves been clean, but they were not, unfortunately. It is for the reasons I have just stated that I have only given three points for cleanliness.
The breakfast was very bland, and offered the same each day with very little choice. The toast was underdone, cold and soggy, and the only fruit-juice available every single day was orange. There were two choices of cereal - the same two choices every day - and as I don't eat cooked breakfast, I would have welcomed some fresh fruit and/or yoghurt.

The carpet in my room was clean, but the same could not be said for the carpet in the entrance hall and on the stairs.

I decided to try La Bonne Vie last year for a change, but this year I will be returning to the guest house I have stayed in for the past three years, which has only been allocated 3 stars but has far more redeeming features than the Bonne Vie. The room rate for La Bonne Vie is extremely reasonable, but that is reflected in its overall quality.

Bedroom clean enough but very small. One small bottle of shower gel and shampoo given on arrival and NOT replaced throughout the week. Towels only changed once in the week. Biggest annoyance was breakfast - Breakfast was between 8 and 9 only - that in itself is OK but five mornings out of the seven we had to wait for a table as there were not enough tables for the amount of people staying in the guest house. Very small dining room with a badly torn part of the carpet which could have been quite nasty. Only two bowls of cereal out and if you wanted grapefruit you had to ask and was given a SMALL bowl of this. In our opinion this is definitely not a FOUR STAR as stated in book - more like two star. This place was booked because it was FOUR STAR!

Stayed 4 nights at La Bonne Vie. It is close to the sea and bus stops and the staff are good but the house is gloomy from the moment you step through the front door and our room only had 2 wall lights so was very dimly lit and poorly lit in en suite too. The carpets are stained and I had warm water for my shower on first day there but my husband had a cold shower as the electric water heater wouldn't provide more hot water. Reported to owner the following morning and expected hot water by that evening but alas had to strip wash and hair wash in the sink as it hadn't been fixed. We again told the owner about this at breakfast and she said she would call out the plumber which she allegedly did but he got hot water coming from the unit, despite the owner trying it herself that morning and acknowledging that there was a fault with the shower heater. That night we were given a key to use a shower in another room to shower which was along the corridor and upstairs so it meant having to take shower essentials and clothing with us. Still not fixed when we left the following day and we weren't offered any rebate at all for this, in my eyes, untenable situation. Breakfast is adequate but not good and the sausage that comes with the farmhouse breakfast is cheap and tasteless. It would have been good to have been offered some fresh fruit and yoghurt too. All in all I wouldn't think this guesthouse is good value for money when some hotels were offering October specials at a cheaper rate. Won't be returning.

We went for a visit to jersey and stayed here for the night. Nice atmosphere, friendly and helpfull owner. Nice rooms, but small bathrooms and very poor waterpressure in the shower. Nice breakfast served in the morning. But there are thin walls between the rooms so if you are planning to mastrubate loudly (or having sex ) like one of the guest when we stayed, you will be heard 😂

We stayed at La Bonne Vie guest house recently for a weekend break. What a lovely place this is and the owner Marie made us feel so welcome. We had booked a room with a four poster bed which was very clean, well presented and full of charm. The full english breakfast was lovely and cereal and other options were available if we wanted that as well. The guest house is only 10 mins walk from the town centre so very handy for shopping. Overall a perfect stay and look forward to staying there in the future.
Mac Heaume.

We have just returned from five nights at La Bonne Vie and found the welcome to be second to none from our host, Noelia. The room was carefully presented and the breakfasts flawlessly cooked each day. We will definitely be returning again. The house itself is two minutes from the beach and ten from the town centre. Fantastic council owned fitness centre nearby - Fort Regent - available to non members, for sporting types. There is an excellent Bistro across the road (Roseville Bistro) serving delicious fish and seafood. Try the Seafood Chowder. Whereas I am used to staying in hotels, I found the welcome here personal whilst not intrusive and the home comforts all that we needed. Great value for money, pound for pound.

We spent a week at this guest house at the end of August 2014 and had there been a 3 and a half rating option that is what I would have chosen. The first and most obvious plus point for this establishment is Sophia, the lady serving breakfast, who was an absolute pleasure and a genuine asset! The cooked breakfasts, although criticised on this site, I found to be excellent, very well cooked, and nothing too much to ask for. The cereal and fruit buffet table lacked imagination and the quality was not good. My only real issue with the breakfast was the small room which was full to the point of uncomfortable if you are not one for chatting with other guests between 8 and 9 am, which I am not. It seemed there was a full house and several times across the week there was no table free when we arrived for breakfast at around 8.30am. Having said that we did not feel rushed to finish when we went over the 9am time frame. The breakfast room and lounge on the ground floor were nicely decorated in period style and pleasant to use. Room 4 was very clean, if a little small, as was the bathroom, and was kept so every day by whoever came in whilst we were out on our travels. I did find the bed rather small, despite it being a 4 poster, but am used to a King Size. I would ask for another room if staying again though, due to the mattress which was awfully soft and uncomfortable, but again, a personal preference rather than a fault. Overall we had a lovely stay and were served well by our host and her team. Very clean and mostly comfortable, I would certainly recommend a weekend break.

I have recently stayed at La Vie Guest House in Jersey Channel Islands. I had a single room with breakfast. The owner, and staff, helpful and attentive. The guest house and my room clean and comfortable. Breakfast hot and cooked well. Only problem water pressure with the shower was low and difficult to regulate and often insufficient water. However, i would recommend it for value for money and greatly convenient for central St Helier, local beach and bus services.
