Firstly it is worth noting the staff here are really helpful and friendly. If you are respectful to them - and I witnessed some customers were not - then they go out of their way to assist.

Some of the reviews on here moaning about the room sizes and facilities are not fair. This is a two star hotel and you get what you pay for. If you want 5 star, get your wallet out and pay for it, or stop complaining. The breakfast is fine with great choice for 2 star, even if the dining room is like a 1970s old people's home.

That said, there were some very simple and inexpensive things that could be done to make the place look less tired and shabby. On arrival the steps of the entrance were dusty - these would take two minutes max to sweep. The lobby is tatty and just removing some of the rubbish ornaments and rugs would improve it instantly. Just a coat of more lively coloured paint in most rooms would revive the place, as would taking down all the old cheap pictures on the wall.

It would be nice to have some local guides or history books on the shelf of the lounge rather than generic tacky Reader's Digest collectors editions and bad chick lit. This would add local character and be useful for what is basically a stop off eat and sleep place for those wanting to enjoy the island inexpensively.

I think this is a reasonable hotel and I felt safe and content staying here, even if it was not the most comfortable. The owners could help emphasise this as a place of pleasant simplicity by making those very easy and inexpensive changes.

We were a little concerned upon reading reviews when we booked to stay here. Yes, the hotel is dated, worn and in need of a bit of modernisation. We found out whilst staying here that the hotel and its sister hotel down the road have been threatened with a compulsory purchase order which maybe why they are not able to spend on upgrading the rooms.
However we found the hotel clean, very friendly and helpful staff and the breakfast is amazing! The location is spot on, 5 minutes to the beach and town centre, which more than outweighs the tired decor!
If you want to holiday in jersey and don't want to spend a fortune on somewhere to basically lay your head at night, I would recommend this quaint cosy little old fashioned hotel.

Old fashioned place, but bed was comfortable, had good breakfast, wi-fi and was quiet. Generally populated by older guests (mostly on package tours). Great position for St Helier, short walk to centre of town.

Stayed here at short notice for two nights. Central location but staff are indifferent. Room was overly hot, no fan available and very noisy, not least of all from staff. Room was adequate but the splash back on the sink was filthy, never been cleaned. If you want cheap and are too drunk to care when you get back, this is the place to go, otherwise avoid! Breakfast was ok, staff on duty were attentive.

First the good point i) good breakfast..
We stayed here because their web site boast a resteurant and bar. untrue both were closed. when we ask staff, it is because this place is closing down- yet they are still taking bookings.
So my thoughts are misrepresentation on their.
web site, taking money under false pretences??
We stayed in room 310 - bed uncomfortable
bathroom. very small ,the mixer shower, you could either scald yourself or cold .shower.
For eating we were told we could dine in their sister hotel the revere- but were fully booked.
If we knew all this prior we would not have booked

I can't really remember the amount of times that I have had the pleasure of staying in this small family owned hotel. From the age of 5, myself and my parents had stayed at this lovely hotel.
About a minutes walk from the town centre of St. Helier, this hotel offers a warm and friendly welcome to all who stay here.
The food isn't A La Carte but well cooked fayre that never fails to disappoint.
Comfortable rooms and friendly staff make this one to stay in and I would recommend it to anyone !!

We were invited to attend a silver wedding party - on the August bank holiday - so we knew prices would be crazy. By packaging flights and hotel together with Channel Islands Direct, we hoped for a less painful bill. Ok maybe we didn't look too closely at the hotel details, but really the Stafford has been neglected for far too long. The lift wasn't working to take us to our 3rd floor room on the font of the hotel, so after a breathy climb up three flights we were bitterly disappointed by our bedroom. The (helpful) receptionist had told us it was one of the best in the house, but what we saw was a 70's throwback. it felt old and dirty and we were compelled to move to another hotel (The Somerrville - now there's a great hotel) and lose the money on the Stafford. We had a drink in the bar and the barman laconically chewed gum the whole time. We couldn't wait to get away.

Excellent staff, very polite and accomodating, the waiting staff are exceptional, nothing's any bother. We stayed here for a week (14/7/12-21/7/12), the staff run a very tight ship and work very hard, very welcoming. The room was very clean and tidy, though it needs updating, but this has not affected the staff work ethic. The food was way above a 2 star hotel, well presented. a great choice, the chef does a great job, breakfast is fabulous, lots of choices. As it is centrally placed a great base to see everything in Jersery.
Everything is geared to please the hotel guests.
Our room was spotlessly clean and comfortable, the only thing l.d ask them to do is, fix the creaky floorboards.
If we return to Jersey we'll make sure we stay here.

I have stayed at the Stafford hotel for more then 10 years, The hotel has always given good value for money, but not this year. over priced and not service or personal attention to any guests.
The rooms are very old and no repairs have been done at all.If the managers spent less time going around showing how important they are, and more time on what made the Stafford a good hotel in the pasted.

There is fruit, fruit juices, full English as well as usual cereals and bread etc and you serve yourself so get what you want. Hope that helps. The hotel is in a perfect position. Handy for the beach and the shops. Brilliant scenic walks. All bus rides £ to any destination. War Tunnels a must.

The bus stop is at the end of the road. When you get on the bud ask the driver for Kensington place and he will point you in the right direction. So easy.
