I have been to the Dolphin numerous times over the years, as there are limited options in Gorey.... it is a really odd place, as the tables are very clinically laid out with no atmosphere, and there is usually the odd really drunk person in there.... I've always thought that that was part of the relaxed nature of the place and never thought too much of it... live and let live etc (I like to have a few beers myself).... however today i was meeting a friend there who has a very well behaved dog... the barman in there told us that dogs needed to stay outside.... I just thought that that was really weird.... they're happy to have really drunk people in there (who never seem to be thrown out), but they don't welcome well behaved dogs!! I thought relaxed open minded places would also accept dogs.... such a shame.

First class service - no matter how busy they are the service is always very prompt and friendly. A very good range of dishes - well worth a visit. Portions are always of a good size and the fish and salads are always very fresh.

Located in beautiful Gorey Port we had expected a pleasant supper here . Unfortunately the prawn and mussel dish ordered came with cold mussels and little apology from the kitchen . The environment wasn't wonderful either ( inside the bar area ) .

One of the nicest hotels I've stayed in. Good generous food and drink. Lovely staff and a great setting by the sea. My only complaint would be the noise from the other bars outside. Great atmosphere. Recommended

Stayed at this Hotel in May 2023. Used this has a base for boat fishing trips in St Helier. Being disabled with a multitude of problems my PA came along with me for the week. We stayed on a half board basis. The first few days were very nice with the waiters overly helpful in a way they were expecting a good tip at the end of the stay. Halfway during the trip i became quite unwell and was unable to drink nothing but water at the evening meals. The attitude of the waiters quickly changed because we both did not order wine or drinks from the bar to have with our meals.. On one of the evenings we were the first seated for our evening meal and our order was taken 15mins before others arrived for there meals. It was noted by ourselves that those who ordered wine and drinks were getting there meals before us, the exact same meals we had ordered. Because of this we quickly departed and ate elsewhere. We were also charged £36 for two pints of lager and one brandy by a waiter who came running after us when we were walking to the bar for our coffee, we later found out that we had been overly charged but could not proof it because the receipt we were given did not show the prices. At the weekend the Hotel bar gets very rowdy with locals, on one of the evenings fighting and severe bad language was aimed at a elderly Hotel stayer who took offence to the severity of the swearing, the police were on scene but were very slow to defuse the situation at the disgust of other Hotel stayers. If you do plan to stay at this Hotel with children do not stay at the weekend, due to the constant swearing by drunken locals. Aways ask for a receipt with all your drinks and compare the prices at the Bar. Gorey itself is a lovely place but our trip was spoilt due to bad attitude of the waiters and constant swearing coming from the bar and outside tables on the evenings..Be very aware that the waiters are very false and only after your money.

We had the absolute pleasure of staying at the Dolphin. It is a great location, well served by local buses, even on Sundays. The actual hotel is comfortable and clean. The location is fantastic. The food is so nice, of course fantastic seafood, but also amazing Espetada so nice and unexpected. Both the food and alcohol are very reasonable. What is completely amazing about this hotel is the staff, awesome customer service, so friendly polite and hard-working. The bar is a pub part of the hotel used mainly by locals, gets a little busy, footy on the telly, again great atmosphere, the same super staff serving and looking after everyone. If you looking for good food fantastic service and a awesome location, I cannot recommended this place enough.

We popped in for lunch on Easter Sunday and even though they were pretty busy, they happily accommodated our requests including for a gluten free dish. They were happy to adapt many dishes and even provided gluten free bread which was delicious!

This review is of the Dolphin restaurant. We booked last minute for dinner and had a lovely window table. Service was extremely good and friendly and the prices were excellent. A good bottle of Mirabeau Pure rose for less than £30! The set menu is great value and I opted for that whilst my wife ordered the Calves Liver from the A La Carte which also featured on the set menu however, she only wanted one course. I started with an Aubergine Stack with mozzarella which was delicious and followed this with the Sole in a creamy cheese sauce with prawns - probably the best sole I have eaten. My wife was delighted with her Calves Liver that was perfectly cooked. We didn't want a pudding or coffee and thought the value for 2 courses on my set menu terrific. All in all, we had an evening of good, traditional food in a very pleasant environment with good service. Recommended!

Lunch for two, very reasonable, excellent service, food all cooked fresh and to perfection..couldn' fault it. Good choice on a fixed menu as well as the A La Carte, good value. Same goes for the wine list, good choices, reasonable by Jersey standards and waiting staff attentive but not pushy. Altogether a great visit.
