Have visited Jersey many times in the past 30 years and this trip was to celebrate our 60th wedding anniversary. On the last day of our visit I had an accident, caused by a glass bottle that was left on a flight of brick/concrete steps in the hotel grounds. It was very lucky that I managed to avoid falling back down the steps which, if I had, would have caused serious injuries. I sustained a couple of cuts to one hand and a badly bruised buttock. The hotel staff attended to my injuries in a professional manner but, when I claimed aganst the hotel, it was a different matter. They simply put me in touch with their insurance company, who declared that the hotel was in no way liable for my accident. I tried to pursue the matter and was able to get free advice from a Jersey based lawyer. He told me that, as Jeresy does not have a 'no-win-no-fee' option, the cost of proceeding with a legal claim would be a lot more than any likely compensation amount. So, be warned - if you visit Jersey and have an accident that isn't your fault, you're unlikely to be compensated for it!…

Expectations were exceeded! Booked mainly due to the pool and the rooms (we stayed in the suites). Got there and welcomed by a friendly receptionist (theme here). Room was clean and a decent size (we had the smallest one, ideally wanted bigger one but only one available on our dates). Space fro 4 cases to be tucked away and good wardrobe/drawer space. Beds comfy - the double seemed huge! Good size fridge that was nice and cold! Plenty to do here - pool is excellent, not cold, great outdoors and the indoors is good too - nice cafe for drinks, fast slide, and basically a mini centerparcs! Gym classes included too. Had a few hot days and outdoors could have been in Greece! Entertainment not ny thing but kids liked it and seemed very well done. Bar was good, again, friendly bar staff. The not so good - this is nit-picking! 1) It was 30c when we got there and room was very warm. No breeze and no air con. Needed to leave door open to make bearable. Not the fault of hotel but air-con would have sorted that and I guess these days I expect that. 2) No oven - they are in bigger suites but would have preferred small oven to dishwasher 3) Sports bar not open so was hard to get table to watch sport in evening in main bar. So if that's as bad as it gets you know you are in a good place. Mention for the staff - everyone from bar staff to cleaners was friendly, always smiled and would do anything to help. All interactions were top notch which I always believe is a sign of happy employees, rare to get that impression from everyone. Room service were brilliant too, Faultless so top marks to management there! Secure parking for cars and bikes too was nice. Good location, just out of town but near co-op and Waitrose and nice park. Overall (and I am fussy with hotels) this had a nice buzz, was busy, great pool, nice staff, good food, lots of things to do and nice rooms. Did I say the great staff too! If your thinking of staying here (and I can only speak for the suites) then I think this will be great for families - if I was to return I would defiantly come again!…

In regards to warm rooms - this is something we're looking to combat, and for the meantime we have included fans in all rooms. Air conditioning throughout the hotel may be too much of a challenge to achieve but this has been raised. Unfortunately, due to reasons beyond our control, the Commentary Box is closed for the 2022 season, but we hope this didn't affect your experience too much. We're delighted to read that you would return, so we look forward to welcoming you back one day soon.

We stayed at the merton for a nice break away together, and would throuly recommend the merton to anyone who visits jersey. The staff throughout the hotel are very friendly and efficient. The hotel is very clean and the rooms are comfortable and of a good size. The breakfast was very good and plenty on offer to set you up for a good start to the day. Loved all the fresh fruit there was. Jersey Joe's is definitely a place to visit good meals proper 1950s diner set up. The hotel has many facilities from the aqua dome which we didn't get chance to visit on this stay. To nightly entertainment and games rooms. We really enjoyed our stay at the merton and have already booked again for next year. To enjoy more of what this fabulous hotel has to offer.

Our 4 night stay for the Northern Soul Weekend was superb, from check in to check out we were looked after and could not fault it. The staff were superb and helpful & friendly and so polite which made us feel special. The food over our stay was outstanding and so much choice and variety. On this occasion we didn’t use the leisure facilities. We will be back soon.

How the Merton is rated as 3* is beyond us, they need to to get someone from their PR team on the case, the hotel is absolutely fantastic, the bars and facilities are first class and the food is exceptional, I/we cannot find a single thing to complain about we are already booked for 2024, PS if you’re on Jersey and want to have a great meal at a reasonable cost you don’t need to be a guest of the hotel to eat or drink there.

Great place to stay. Friendly staff and great food. Good value for money. Loved the bar card system. Great idea as it saves you money. I would recommend this for a family holiday. The only thing I would change is the shower curtain for a shower screen.

While Hotel amenities and room and aqua dome were all fine the noise in our room from the nightime entertainment was ridiculously high until well after midnight! For a family friendly hotel this is not acceptable'

Dear cx5002023 Thank you for your feedback. We're glad you generally enjoyed your stay but sorry to hear you were disturbed by the entertainment. This is surprising as we have a rule that entertainment is over by 11pm and there follows a silent disco. Unless of course you stayed with us recently for a private event (no families) where the live music went on much later. We do hope this won't stop you from returning again one day.

just returned home from the merton after a five day stay, the hotel itself is very clean, the staff were absolutely brilliant, the food was also excellent, this is the second time we have been and will return next year.would highly recommend this hotel

I stayed here for the uk Motown and northern soul weekender that is held here every November. What a great venue for this event! The food was amazing ( help yourself buffet) the staff everywhere were so friendly, helpful and always a smile on their faces, lovely to see! The dance floor in the star room was great to dance on and we had extra rooms to dance as they moved the food trollers away in the restaurant and turned that into a dance floor. Anyone that was hesitant to stay here or attend this yearly event should not hesitate and just book it as you would have a great stay here at the Merton and a great event too. The rooms were lovely and clean. they also have a pool, sauna etc which we used during the day .
