Undercliff is a tranquil family run guest house. Due to the ever increasing popularity of self catering, for 2017 we will be converting existing guest rooms to Self Catering Double /twin room only and 4 Self Catering Junior Suites . Like all self catering rooms will not be serviced daily but have a free welcome breakfast. (Breakfasts can also be purchased for £10 per room per day)All within the same quirky building, all modernised to a 4 star guest house standard with bigger beds, bigger TV's, bigger ensuites, and more stylish. We also have a one bed Countryview Apartment, 2 bed Sea view Apartment and our 2 beautiful Sea view 3 bed Villas, all situated in a unique location on the north coast very near Bouley Bay harbour and beach. One of the main attractions of Undercliff is that it is situated literally a few yards from the beautiful north coast cliff paths where you have stunning views of the coast of France and the outlying reefs. Also located a few minutes drive from the famous Durell Zoo and the main town of St Helier is only 15 mins drive away. With free WiFi, gardens , swimming pool and car parking Undercliff makes a perfect base to enjoy all that Jersey has to offer.

We came for a big family celebration in Trinity parish. We booked 4 suites for 8 of us for 5 nights. The location was perfect- starting the mornings with sea swimming 150m from the front door, or in several of the other NE Jersey coast bays, (Fliquet bay being a highlight) was special, particularly good for clearing the head from the night before. Facilities were spot on for our needs- each suite group agreed the standard was vg, everything worked and the small but well kitted-out kitchens served our needs well. As others have commented, the generous starter breakfast lasted for days. Richard and Ida were excellent, discrete hosts, capable of meeting our few requests without fuss. We felt welcome. As a self catering business operator, my assessment of Undercliff is that of being a well run business, by an experienced, friendly team.

Well situated if you go for rest and quiet. A bit of at the end of the world actually. Liked it very much. We booked just a simple room wthout fancy equipment (just sink, coffee machine, water boiler, microwave oven), but there are upscale options, all self-catering. Family run: friendly, helpful people. We went everywhere by public transport, which is quite advisable. Roads are sometimes frighteningly narrow. Traffic goes at a leisurely, complaisant pace though. Did quite a bit simply on foot. Bus to St Helier every two hours. Coming back takes quite a bit more time, due to complicated bus trajectories. Check your last one ! Would certainly go back to laidback Jersey and to Undercliff.

We stayed in the 3 bedroom apartment. It was fabulous and met our needs perfectly. I love the colour scheme, nice and modern and clean with a real flavour of the islands. Spacious enough for the family and had all we needed. Good location for us, but would definitely recommend having a car! Owners are wonderfully hospitable, thank you for the coffee machine! The only slight downside is that the paring in the car park sometimes can be tricky (if other cars do not follow the layout suggested)

We were concerned the first evening as the local youths were using the road outside the building as a race track. It's quieter in Coventry on a Saturday night. Fortunately the rest of the holiday was much quieter, other than the hyperactive baby elephant who seemed to be staying above us in the second week. We had a Junior suite, which was easily large enough, very clean and generally well equipped. We would have liked a tea pot, a small side table for drinks and somewhere to sit in the garden other than the by the pool. I suspect that your list would be entirely different, and they can't please everyone. We did ask if there should be a bread knife and when we came back in the evening they gave us a knife that they must have bought while we were out. How many places would do that? The person who left a poor review saying the staff were 'unfriendly' must have been a bit on the unpleasant side themselves, Richard and Ida were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. There is a small car park just over the road from the accommodation – a sign would have helped. I'd advise you to have a look on Google Street View before you arrive. The welcome breakfast was very extensive and lasted us most of the first week. You'd have to have an enormous appetite to eat it all for one breakfast. Tripadvisor mentions that 'Breakfasts can also be purchased for £10 per room per day' Apparently that isn't the case. The pool is available for all guests. I noticed a complaint in the reviews about removing the pool cover...it takes about a minute to remove and 20 seconds to replace – not exactly taxing. The cover is to help warm the pool from the sun and when we went in it was remarkably warm. On the whole I would highly recommend Undercliffe.

An immaculately kept guest house in a very quiet area. Loved our stay here, fantastic host, lovely room, comfortable and made to feel very welcome. The photos on display are true to life and a very good example of what to expect. Discovered lots of quaint bays dotted all over Jersey with our little hire car from our base at Undercliff, close to Zoo, well worth a visit. Would highly recommend for a quiet, get away from it all stay.

Well, first of all, the booking procedure could not have been easier or the welcome from our hosts more friendly. It was last minute and so, the choice of accommodation wasn't enormous but our ground floor self-catering room was extremely well-equipped and spotlessly clean. The pool in the garden and the seashore a short walk down the road were a pleasant relief from the remarkably warm weather. The private car park across the road was an added bonus as on-street parking was limited because it was the height of the holiday season. I couldn't recommend Undercliff more highly.

Great welcome from Ida and Richard. When arriving it is best to unpack your cases outside the guest house. Then drive up the hill (30 yards) and there is a car park on the right. Limited parking, but we never had a problem. Breakfast for the first morning (unless breakfast included) left in the room. Lovely fruit platter, jam, butter, milk, yogurt left in fridge, choice of cereals and a selection of breads. Last minute booking so no choice of rooms. The one we were allocated was adequate but quite small. For a week it was fine, very clean and had everything we needed re putting a meal together. Coffee making machine (pods supplied), kettle, fridge, microwave. Bathroom modern, toiletries supplied. Undercliff is set in an idyllic setting up from Bouley Bay with beautiful coastal walks all around. Mad Mary's cafe is in Bouley Bay (closes at 5pm). Although there are plenty of evening eating options within 10 minutes. There is also a supermarket about 5 minutes away for supplies. Icing on the cake was the pool. Wonderful temperature and a lovely finish to the day after our long walks. Would definitely recommend hiring a car, although a bus does stop at the bottom of the hill. Definitely would visit again.

I was very impressed with the guest house. They offered an included breakfast for us for our first night. Everything we could need was included in the kitchen. We enjoyed the pool and the fact that the beach is so close. The views are amazing too.

Wanted to post an up to date review given the current issues with Travel. I have reviewed UnderCliffe, our experience of Jersey this week and travelling here. UnderCliffe - this is our second trip here. Ida and Richard are wonderful hosts. We were self-catering and in the Poolside villa which was set up as two doubles and a twin. The master bedroom is amazing with an en-suite. Balcony table hidden outback was a lovely outside space. Both villas here are of a good standard, well laid out with reasonable wi-fi (~10 download Mbps) and so works well with appleTV/fire stick. We like the modern feel of the house. The outdoor pool is a good size with heating if cold. It’s a short walk to the shingle beach. Jersey is easy to travel around so this is a great place to be based if you have car although there is a regular bus service. It feels off the beaten track and traffic is minimal. I suspect we will be back next year. Jersey-has been waiting to restart it feels. Numbers are low with services starting to open. Usual masks in shops etc. Beaches very clean and are not busy. Restaurants are open and service is as ever friendly. Ice cream on the beach is too good. Attractions are open with low numbers. Travelling - very easy. Felt very relaxed and no stress at the airport. Everyone helpful. You need to fill in travel document within 48 hours of travel but not before. We didn’t get a QR code but gave our name on arrival and no worries. Quick PCR throat and nasal swab. Done. Less stressful than I feared. No rules of six and low rates mean everyone is relaxed but aware.
